Ieva Lagūna

Ieva Lagūna (born June 6, 1990 in Saldus, Latvia) is a Latvian model. Lagūna participated in 2011 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and has been on Vogue's cover four times.

Biography

Lagūna was born in Saldus, Latvia, and began her modeling career in 2007 when she was scouted during the MTV/B-day festival in Riga by Nils Raumanis, the founder of DANDY model management. She later signed with WOMEN model management in Milan. Her runway debut was at the Spring 2008 London fashion Week in the Burberry anniversary fashion show. In 2008 she signed with model agency Women Management Paris and SUPREME Model Management in New York. Laguna has since walked in shows for designers such as Shiatzy Chen, Christian Dior, Nina Ricci, Dolce & Gabbana, Victoria's Secret, Versace, Carolina Herrera, and Michael Kors.

Laguna has been featured on the cover of Vogue Germany, Vogue Greece, Rush magazine, Elle France, and Marie Claire Italy.

Victoria's Secret

Victoria's Secret is an American designer, manufacturer and marketer of women's premium lingerie, womenswear and beauty products. With 2012 sales of $6.12 billion, it is the largest American retailer of women's lingerie. Victoria's Secret is wholly owned by L Brands, a publicly traded company.

1977: Founding

Victoria's Secret was founded by Tufts University and Stanford Graduate School of Business alumnus Roy Raymond, and his wife Gaye, in San Francisco, California, on June 12, 1977. The original store was in Palo Alto, California, at Stanford Shopping Center. The original store was moved to a larger location within the same center in 1996. The original store was located next to the Ralph Lauren Polo store facing El Camino Real. It had a bay window, one bra wall, one panty wall, one dressing room (the other was used for storage,) and a loft for the manager's office. Above the merchandise walls, on both sides, was a large space with antiques, hat boxes, bust forms, etc. Despite small size of the store, it did a booming business.

Fashion show

A fashion show is an event put on by a fashion designer to showcase his or her upcoming line of clothing during Fashion Week. Fashion shows debut every season, particularly the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons. This is where the latest fashion trends are made. The two most influential fashion weeks are Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week, which are both semiannual events. Also, the Milan, London and Berlin are of global importance.

In a typical fashion show, models walk the catwalk dressed in the clothing created by the designer. The clothing is illuminated on the runway by the fashion show lighting. The order in which each model walks out wearing a specific outfit is usually planned in accordance to the statement that the designer wants to make about his or her collection. It is then up to the audience to not only try to understand what the designer is trying to say by the way the collection is being presented, but to also visually deconstruct each outfit and try to appreciate the detail and craftsmanship of every single piece.
