Natalie Grant (born December 21, 1971 in Seattle, Washington) is a singer-songwriter of contemporary Christian music. She has received the Gospel Music Association's Dove Award for Female Vocalist of the Year four consecutive years (2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009), and again in 2012.^[1] Her signature song is Held.

Grant toured with award winning, multi-platinum selling Billboard magazine's Artist of The Decade MercyMe in April 2011.

She recently toured on the Speaking Louder Than Before tour with Bebo Norman and Jeremy Camp.^[2] She also contributed the song "Breathe On Me" to Crystal Aikin's self-titled debut album.

Grant's eighth album, Love Revolution, was released on August 24, 2010.^[3]

She was a speaker and performer on the Revolve Tour, a conference for teen girls from Women of Faith.

Personal life[link]

In an interview with The 700 Club, Natalie revealed that she suffered from bulimia.^[4] She says God helped her get over her eating disorder. She later wrote a book titled The Real Me: Being the Girl God Sees, about her struggle and how she overcame it.

Grant lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her Canadian producer husband, Bernie Herms, and their three daughters, which includes a set of fraternal twin girls Grace Ana and Isabella Noelle (born February 16, 2007).^[5] On December 17, 2010, Grant gave birth to their third child, Sadie Rose.

She has a passion to see an end to human trafficking. She was affected by an episode of Law & Order that dealt with the topic and began researching. Her studies led her and her husband to travel to India to witness the red-light districts and what is being done to stop them. That experience, coming in the middle of a restless, stressed-out season for her, completely changed the trajectory of Natalie's life, awakening her out of complacency and passivity and into a life driven by compassion and passion. And it has forever changed the way she approaches her music.^[6]

After realizing the need for quality aftercare for victims, in 2005 Natalie founded The Home Foundation. The Home Foundation has since evolved into Abolition International, an international leader in the fight to eradicate sex trafficking through aftercare accreditation, advocacy and education initiatives, and dedication to opening restoration homes for those already victimized by sex trafficking.^[7]

Edmond Montague "Eddy" Grant (born 5 March 1948) is a musician, born in Plaisance, Guyana.^[1]

Life and career[link]

When he was still a young boy, his parents emigrated to London, UK, where he settled. He lived in Kentish Town and went to school at the Acland Burghley Secondary Modern at Tufnell Park. He had his first number one hit in 1968, when he was the lead guitarist and main songwriter of the group The Equals, with his self-penned song "Baby Come Back".^[2] The tune also later topped the UK Singles Chart again when covered by Pato Banton.^[3] Notably, he openly used his songwriting for political purposes, especially against the then-current apartheid regime of South Africa. The Clash recorded a version of "Police On My Back" for their Sandinista! set.

Musical achievements[link]

• In 1982, his solo recording of "I Don't Wanna Dance" spent three weeks at Number one in the UK Singles Chart.^[4] He scored a Top Ten album in the same year, with Killer on the Rampage.^[5]
• "Electric Avenue" was both a UK and US number 2 in 1983, selling over a million copies. A later remix also made the UK Top Ten, in 2001.^[5]
• In 1984 Grant had a minor hit single in the US with his original song written to accompany the Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner film, Romancing the Stone. Despite being commissioned by the film's producers, all but the guitar solo (which played when Douglas and Turner were in a small house in the jungle) would be cut from the film during its final edit. The song, which was Grant's last Hot 100 hit, did not appear on its soundtrack. Grant released the song as a single with the original video that featured scenes from the film. Later the video was re-edited without the Romancing the Stone clips.
• His later single, "Gimme Hope Jo'anna", during the apartheid regime ("Joanna" stands for Johannesburg, South Africa) was a song about apartheid in that country, and was subsequently banned in South Africa. This song was later adapted for use on a commercial for Yop, a commercially available yogurt-based drink, with the altered non-political lyrics "give me Yop (me mama) when the morning come".
• Other songs, such as "War Party" were also political protest songs. "The only decoration is the one upon the grave". "Living On The Front Line" was another. "They got me living on top of my existence, oh appreciating my resistance".
• Defined a Caribbean music meta-genre and philosophy called ringbang,^[6] which he first described in 1994.

Grant Kirkhope (born 10 July 1962) is a British video game music composer, known for writing the soundtracks for numerous games by Rare, such as GoldenEye, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Perfect Dark, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Viva Pinata, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, and also Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning by Big Huge Games.

Biography[link]

Kirkhope was brought up in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire and attended King James's School (like his fellow trumpet player and good friend, Simply Red's Tim Kellett). Kirkhope played in various bands after leaving the Royal Northern College of Music, including Zoot and the Roots along with the saxophonist, Snake Davis. Kirkhope also spent many years as part of "the big bad horns" which were part of UK band "Little Angels". At the age of 33 he was employed by Rare. Before joining Rare, in October 1995, he played for two bands called Syar and Maineeaxe where he played guitar, and already knew Robin Beanland, another Rare composer. Kirkhope's music, featuring an electric guitar, is played on an Ernie Ball/Musicman EVH given to him by Eddie Van Halen.

On 14 July 2008, Kirkhope stated in his MySpace blog that he was resigning from Rare. He joined THQ studio Big Huge Games, as audio director.^[1]

Big Huge Games was acquired by 38 Studios in May 2009, the company founded by Curt Schilling. Kirkhope went on to compose both the music and sound effects for Big Huge Games's role-playing game Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, which was released in February 2012^[2].

On 24 May 2012, 38 Studios announced that it would be laying-off its entire staff, including Kirkhope and the employees of Big Huge Games, due to the effects of the financial downturn.^[3]

Grant Masaru Imahara (born October 23, 1970)^[1] is a Japanese-American electronics and radio control expert, best known for his work on the American television show MythBusters.

Education and early work[link]

Imahara is a graduate of the University of Southern California, with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. For a time, he seriously considered switching majors, with the intention of becoming a screenwriter; he decided to stay on the engineering track after assisting Tomlinson Holman,^[2] a professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and creator of the Lucasfilm THX sound system.

After graduation, Imahara was hired as an engineer for Lucasfilm's Home THX division; he then moved to the visual effects company Industrial Light and Magic (ILM), where he worked for nine years. While at ILM, he was involved in films such as The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Galaxy Quest, AI: Artificial Intelligence, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, Van Helsing, and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Imahara is credited in many feature films as a model maker. In particular, he is credited for his work in updating the aging R2-D2 robots for the Star Wars prequel trilogy.^[3] As an official Artoo Technician, he makes a cameo appearance in the mockumentary R2-D2: Beneath the Dome.^[4]

Imahara joined MythBusters on the invitation of friend and occasional employer Jamie Hyneman^[5] and former ILM colleague Linda Wolkovitch, who is now an Associate Producer of MythBusters. He joined as the third member of the Build Team, replacing former MythBusters welder Scottie Chapman. His colleagues often, jokingly, refer to him as the geek of the Build Team. He often makes the robots that are needed for the show and otherwise specializes in operating the computers and electronics for the myths.

In addition to his role on MythBusters, he is known for his appearances on BattleBots, where he designed and competed with his robot Deadblow. He also had a cameo appearance on the web series The Guild. Other well-known works include: designing the circuit that creates the rhythmic oscillation of the arms of the modern Energizer Bunny;^[3] leading Team ILM to victory in an appearance on Junkyard Mega-Wars; as well as authoring Kickin' Bot: An Illustrated Guide to Building Combat Robots (ISBN 0-7645-4113-7), considered to be a definitive reference in robot construction.^[3]

Imahara was a cast member, and story writer, for the short film Architects of Evil, created for the 2004 Industrial Light and Magic Backyard Film Contest.^[6] He mentors the Richmond High robotics team Biomechs #841 (Richmond Ca.) for the FIRST Robotics Competition, lending his expert guidance on how to create the right robot for the right job.^[7] Imahara was profiled in the magazine IEEE Spectrum, in an issue focusing on engineering dream jobs. The article was titled "Grant Imahara: Debunker in The Box.";^[8] he is shown in a fire resistant suit on the cover.

One of Imahara's independent projects, during early 2010, was constructing a robotic sidekick for Craig Ferguson, host of The Late Late Show.^[9] The robot, named Geoff Peterson, was unveiled on the April 5, 2010 Late Late Show episode.
