In the United States Congress, a joint resolution is a legislative measure that requires approval by the Senate and the House and is presented to the President for his/her approval or disapproval, in exactly the same case as a bill.

Generally, there is no legal difference between a joint resolution and a bill. Both must be passed, in exactly the same form, by both chambers of Congress, and then must -- with one exception -- be presented to the President and signed by him/her (or, re-passed in override of a presidential veto; or, remain unsigned for ten days while Congress is in session) to become a law. Laws enacted by virtue of a joint resolution are not distinguished from laws enacted by a bill. Constitutional amendments are passed by joint resolutions, which are not presented to the President. Instead, they are sent to the states for ratification under Article Five of the U.S. Constitution.

While either a bill or joint resolution can be used to create a law, they are used differently in current usage. Bills are generally used to add, repeal, or amend laws codified in the United States Code, and twelve annual appropriations laws. Kenneth "Ken" Gordon (born in 1930) is a Trinidadian businessman and former politician.

He went to Saint Mary's College and went away to study in the United States and United Kingdom to further his studies. He went into broadcasting in the early 1950s as a radio announcer for Radio Trinidad. He later became chairman of a conglomerate. In 1986 he was appointed a Minister of Tourism under the National Alliance for Reconstruction as a senator.

He married three times, his present wife being Marguerite Gordon. He has four children.

He was instrumental in introducing the first private television station in the English Caribbean, CCN TV6, and Prime Radio, which is owned by Trinidad and Tobago Express Newspapers Limited, in 1991. He was the chairman of that company until 2006, when he became chairman of the West Indies Cricket Board. On 28 October 2011 he was appointed Chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Integrity Commission.

Brady Wiseman is a Democratic Party member of the Montana House of Representatives, representing District 65 since 2004.

Harlan Andrew Romanoff (born August 24, 1966) is an American politician. A Democrat, he was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 2000 to 2008, serving as Speaker from 2005 to 2008. He was a candidate for the United States Senate in the 2010 election, when he was defeated by incumbent Democrat Michael Bennet in the party's primary.

Romanoff was raised in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Columbus Academy. He has a Democratic mother and a Republican father, a twin sister, and a border collie named Zorro. Romanoff's full name is Harlan Andrew Romanoff but he prefers to be known by his middle name. His mother "Cap" (née Gayle) was a social worker and his father Marvin was a judge. Andrew’s grandparents worked for Project Hope, bringing medical supplies and treatment to Africa and Latin America. Romanoff took an early interest in civil rights. As a student, he learned about the Southern Poverty Law Center’s efforts to combat Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazi groups. The Center’s Klanwatch Project and a state civil rights agency became two of his first employers.

Lois Court is a legislator in the U.S. state of Colorado. Elected to the Colorado House of Representatives as a Democrat in 2008, Court represents House District 6, which encompasses portions of central Denver, Colorado.

Lois Court earned a Master of Public Administration in 1996 from the Graduate School of Public Affairs, University of Colorado at Denver. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1975 from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Lois Court is married to Patrick Reynolds and has two sons, Nathan and Brendan. She lived in the 7th Avenue Parkway Neighborhood for 27 years and has been active in Denver/State civics, public school, and community affairs for over 25 years.

Prior to becoming a State Representative, she served as Denver Mayor Wellington Webb's Director of Administration, General Services Department; Director of the Mayor's Office of Volunteerism; and Director of the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Response. She also has over 20 years of experience as a public issues consultant.
