Ron Perlman Wants Another ‘Hellboy’ Movie
Ron Perlman is hoping that director Guillermo del Toro will give his fans another Hellboy movie.
Series creator Mike Mignola stated earlier this month that Hellboy 3 probably wasn’t going to happen. Although many of us are still attempting to deal with this fact, Perlman said he’s currently pressuring the director to deliver one more movie.
“I said [to Guillermo], ‘You owe it to the world to finish this trilogy.’ I’ve been giving him Jewish guilt,” Ron Perlman said during his chat with IGN.
Although the director and the star said they wouldn’t do another movie after Hellboy 2, apparently Perlman’s had a slight change of heart.
He continued:
“But, with the passage of time, it became clear to me that he really always designed it as a trilogy. [Guillermo] has a very well-articulated idea of what the resolve would look like and it’s amazingly theatrical and is epic in scope and would make for amazing cinema, with or without the first two movies.”
The possibility of a third Hellboy movie is certainly exciting. However, Guillermo del Toro has so many projects going at the moment that he may not have time to fit the film into his busy schedule. Even if he said yes, it could be a few years before he makes it.
Ron Perlman’s desire to do another movie proves there’s hope for the project yet. Mignola, on the other hand, certainly seems to think the cinematic franchise is dead in the water.
During a chat with Comic Book Resources, the Mignola talked about his new project Hellboy in Hell. While discussing how the book would be released, he made a remark that broke the hearts of fans around the world.
“The biggest problem I see as far as PR for the next billion years is explaining endlessly not only that there’s no ‘Hellboy 3′ movie, but it’s going to be explaining ‘It’s a series, but it’s not a monthly series,’” he said.
Until del Toro makes an announcement that another Hellboy flick is in the works, it’s probably best not to get too excited about the idea. At least we have Ron Perlman on our side.
