Reuters reports that major ad group WPP (PINK:WPPGY) warned that it expects to feel the impact of the economic slowdown next year as it reported strong first half results helped by emerging markets and digital. The Financial Times reports that Australian miner Macarthur says talks with "interested parties" continue, but refused to identify any bidders. Peabody Energy (NYSE:BTU) and ArcelorMittal (NYSE:MT) offered to acquire Macarthur for A$15.50 a share, while it's rumored that Anglo American (PINK:AAUKY) is considering a counterbid. Finally, the Associated Press reports that Hertz Global Holdings (NYSE:HTZ) plans to form a partnership with General Electric (NYSE:GE) to offer electric vehicles in China and expand the charging networks needed to run them.
