Spilt Milk (Jellyfish album)

Spilt Milk is an album released in 1993 by Jellyfish.

The album contained the singles "The Ghost at Number One" (reached No. 9 on Billboard's Modern Rock Chart), "New Mistake" (which yielded a Japanese-only ten-song E.P.), "Joining a Fan Club" (covered ten years later by Puffy AmiYumi on an album written and produced by Andy Sturmer) and "Bye, Bye, Bye" (which almost appeared on Bellybutton). "He's My Best Friend" later appeared in the 1994 comedy Threesome and on its soundtrack. There were promotional videos for "The Ghost at Number One" and "New Mistake". "Joining A Fan Club" was also covered by Drake Bell in his video Drake Bell In Concert, where he performed in Mexico in 2008.

Outtakes and B-Sides included "Family Tree", "Worthless Heart", and "Watchin' The Rain". The latter two are covers of Jellyfish's forerunners Beatnik Beatch's songs.

A two-disc deluxe edition was released by Omnivore Recordings in January 2015.

Spilt Milk (Kristina Train album)

Spilt Milk is the debut album by Kristina Train, released on October 20, 2009. Her records label at the time, Blue Note Records, had initially been interested in pairing Train with Norah Jones producer Lee Alexander, but instead she went to London in 2007 and asked Jimmy Hogarth to produce the album. Train co-wrote eight songs on the album, collaborating with Hogarth, Eg White, and Ed Harcourt. Train also arranged and overdubbed strings on three tracks on Spilt Milk. The extended version of the release contains the Carolyn Franklin & Jimmy Radcliffe song "If You Want Me".

Synopsis

A very old man is in a hospital bed. A member of a traditional Brazilian family, he presents the history of his family in a monologue addressed to his daughter, the nurses, and anyone else who will listen. He follows his family's path from his Portuguese ancestors, including a baron of the Empire, and a First Republic's Senator, down to his grandson, a youth from Rio de Janeiro. His family saga is characterized by social and economic decadence against the background of Brazilian history over the last two centuries.
