On Broadway may refer to:
On Broadway (sometimes referred to as David Campbell On Broadway) is the fourth studio album from Australian singer/actor David Campbell, released in Australia on 2 April 2010.On Broadway marks a departure by Campbell from his previous albums of swing and rock music, back to the genre of musical theatre through which he first rose to fame. The album reached number seven on the Australian national ARIA chart.
The album was produced by leading musical director Rob Fisher and veteran arranger Bill Elliott, and recorded with a 40-piece orchestra at East West Studios, Los Angeles in January 2010.
An accompanying television documentary David Campbell On Broadway was filmed by Campbell's production company Luckiest Productions at the same time, and aired in Australia on arts channel STVDIO on Saturday 3 April.
G.I.T. on Broadway was a 1969 television special produced by Motown Productions and George Schlatter-Ed Friendly Productions. The special, a follow-up to 1968's successful TCB program, was a musical revue starring Motown's two most popular groups at the time, Diana Ross & the Supremes and The Temptations. Containing primarily Broadway showtunes, the special was taped before a live studio audience in mid-1969 and originally broadcast November 12, 1969 on NBC. Like TCB, the title of the program was derived from an acronym, this one standing for Gettin' it together.
A soundtrack album for the special, titled On Broadway, was issued the same month the program aired. Though there were no singles released from this album in the states, "The Rhythm of Life" did become a Top 10 hit for the ensemble in Australia.
Two months after its release, Diana Ross left The Supremes to embark upon a solo career.
Nór (Old Norse Nórr) or Nori is firstly a mercantile title and secondly a Norse man's name. It is stated in Norse sources that Nór was the founder of Norway, from whom the land supposedly got its name. (The name in fact probably derives from ‘nórðrvegr’, ‘northern way’.)
The Chronicle of Lejre (“Chronicon Lethrense”) written about 1170 introduces a primeval King Ypper of Uppsala whose three sons were Dan who afterwards ruled Denmark, Nori who afterwards ruled Norway, and Østen who afterwards ruled the Swedes. But the account then speaks only of the descendants of Dan.
Parallel but not quite identical accounts of Nór the eponym of Norway appear in “Fundinn Nóregr” (‘Norway Found’), hereafter called F, which begins the Orkneyinga saga, and in Hversu Noregr byggðist (‘How Norway was Settled’), hereafter called B, both found in the Flatey Book.
King Thorri (Þorri 'frozen snow'), king of Finland, Kvenland and Götaland in B, was son of Snær ('Snow') the Old, a descendant of Fornjót (ruler of Finland and Kvenland in F). See Snær and Fornjót for further information. The name Þorri has long been identified with that of Þórr, the name of the Norse thunder god Thor, or thunder personified.
Gi alpha subunit (Gαi, or Gi/G0 or Gi protein) is a heterotrimeric G protein subunit that inhibits the production of cAMP from ATP. A mnemonic for remembering this subunit is to look at first letter (Gαi = Adenylate Cyclase inhibitor).
The following G protein-coupled receptors couple to the Gi subunit:
Gi mainly inhibits the cAMP dependent pathway by inhibiting adenylate cyclase activity, decreasing the production of cAMP from ATP, which, in turn, results in decreased activity of cAMP-dependent protein kinase. Therefore, the ultimate effect of Gi is the opposite of cAMP-dependent protein kinase.
Nộm (gỏi in Southern Vietnam) is the indigenous salad of Vietnamese cuisine. It is to be distinguished from sa lát (from the French for salad), and sa lát Nga ("Russian salad") found in Western style restaurants.
This salad is a combination of a variety of fresh vegetables, grated turnip, kohlrabi, cabbage, or papaya, and slices of cucumber often with meat - either grated, boiled, lean pork, beef, shrimp or small fry. Other ingredients and condiments include gia vị spice, rau thơm herbs, and đậu phộng peanut. The salad is mixed, soaked in vinegar, sugar, tỏi garlic, ớt pepper, and seasoned with salt.
One of the best known is Gỏi gà, chicken salad, Other varieties include Bánh đúc nộm salad made with bánh đúc, Nộm thịt bò khô dried beef salad with kinh giới, the popular Gỏi đu đủ papaya salad and Gỏi tôm prawn salad and local specialities such as rice-paddy eel salad, Gỏi nhệch.
They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway
They say there's always magic in the air
But when you're walking down the street
And you ain't had enough to eat
The glitter rubs right off and you're nowhere (on Broadway)
They say the women treat you right on Broadway
But looking at them just gives me the blues
'Cause how you gonna make some time
When all you got is one thin dime
And one thin dime won't even shine your shoes (on Broadway)
They say that I won't last too long on Broadway
I'll catch a Greyhound bus for home, they all say
But They're dead wrong, I know they are
'Cause I can play this here guitar
And I won't quit till I'm a star on Broadway (on Broadway)
