Channel 4 News July 4, 1995 Conservative Leadership Election
In June 1995, fed up with constant talk of a challenge to his authority, Prime Minister John Major resigned as leader of the Conservative Party, forcing an election for the top job. It was, however, the beginning of the end for the Tories and Tony Blair would sweep aside 18 years of Tory rule less than two years later. Jon Snow presents Channel 4 News' coverage of the result.- published: 24 Nov 2013
