Stockholm based Victor Bergh aka Bergmeister caught our acoustic attention back in September 2012. The Rosamango track with the lovely deep acid inspired bassline might have been featured for free download here on HMWL . Even though both us and Victor would deny it. So finally we are very happy to see Victor release the mango-track followed by two equally old-school sounding cuts. The flanger cut-up Voodon't and the Deep and Soulful Deep Disc. Lesale remix brings it even deeper. Rosamango just came out on Canadian [...]
Whether you've realized it or not, you've been hearing Gentlemen Hall 's "Sail Into The Sun" all over the place. It's been in constant rotation on tv in Samsung and Target commercials. It's crazy to think that out of every blog in the world, I was the first to jump and post the single. Sorry. I had to brag about that. Anyway, when a song has become as recognizable as the sunshine pop wonder of " Sail Into The Sun ", you better bring something unique to the table if you're going to remix it. These remixes by Sam [...]

J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot is in negotiations for the rights to Stephen King‘s bestselling 2011 novel 11/22/63. The deal is being done through Warner Bros TV. The plan is to adapt the book as a TV series or miniseries, likely for cable. 11/22/63 centers on Jake, an unassuming divorced English teacher who stumbles upon a time portal that leads to 9/9/1958 and goes on a quest to try and prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy, which occurred on November 22, 1963. The deal for 11/22/63 comes on the heels of CBS’ green light for a [...]

Thought you had a big night out grabbing a bottle and a couple bags? Think again with a punter at Las Vegas' new Hakkasan mega-club at the MGM Grand blowing a cool $600,000 on the opening night! Although we think it might be a little over the top (and yes it included tip), it seems like the bottle service are matching the fees DJs are pulling for residencies in the new ibiza . The event was a biggie with festival-esque headliners Deadmau5, Hardwell, Bingo Players and Tommy Trash all laying down big ole club sets for [...]

This weekend I will proceed onward to Africa. First stop is Tunisia, directly across from Malta, the smallest country in North Africa. Long under colonial rule, then under less than democratic principles, Tunisia was the starting point for the 2011 Arab Spring.
I've been looking for a full-time job for the past couple of months. It's brutal out there. I've rewritten my resume about 100 times and contacted every person I've ever known and some that I don't know. I don't advise the latter. I keep telling myself that it's just tough out there and I have to work extra hard to get a good job. I'm up for it. No job's worth getting unless you have to

Album Review: His Name is Codeine - The Only Truth Is Music (Dead Book Records) I've lost count of the times I've heard that guitar music is over. It's a mantra repeated whenever each successive generation of young musicians discovers the white-hot technology of their era, and decides that the old ways just won't cut it anymore. But for every revolution there is a resistance movement - skulking in garages, doing time in dark club basements and trawling for dog-eared copies of old, revered records. With a lineage harking back to New York punk, West Coast [...]
From the new album "Archipelago".
Too much of life is understood, there is too much meaning and everything experienced appears mechanically interpreted by the stacked index of the mind. Something like nature is supposed to present the antithesis to modern living and the lack of sensation, its entire lack of reason a source of inspiration. Jim Gaylord attempts a resolution of modern existence to forms that occur without any thought. The oil painting, “Should We Talk Above It Now?”(below), sends careening a form of blotchy to solid color areas patched together with metered textures and amalgamations of organelle or motor parts into a [...]
