When area softball teams open the UIL playoffs Friday, Westlake will look to add to its school-record home run total. The Chaparrals, who face Cedar Ridge in a best-of-three Class 5A bi-district series, have piled up 26 homers this season. Senior Liz Carter has led the way, hitting seven home runs while batting .521 and driving in 39 runs.
