Kenneth Saul "Ken" Rogoff (born March 22, 1953) is currently the Thomas D. Cabot Professor of Public Policy and Professor of Economics at Harvard University. He is also a chess Grandmaster.

Rogoff grew up in Rochester, New York. His father was a Professor of Radiology at the University of Rochester. He attended East High School.

Rogoff received a B.A. and M.A. from Yale University summa cum laude in 1975, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1980.

Early in his career, Rogoff served as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

He is an elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Science as well as a Fellow of the Econometric Society, and a former Guggenheim Fellow.^{[citation needed]}

Rogoff was the Charles and Marie Robertson Professor of International Affairs at Princeton University.^{[citation needed]}

He later served as Economic Counsellor and Director, Research Department of the IMF, from August 2001 to September 2003.^{[citation needed]}

Paul Robin Krugman ( /ˈkruːɡmən/; born February 28, 1953) is an American economist, Professor of Economics and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, Centenary Professor at the London School of Economics, and an op-ed columnist for The New York Times. In 2008, Krugman won the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences (informally the Nobel Prize in Economics) for his contributions to New Trade Theory and New Economic Geography. According to the Nobel Prize Committee, the prize was given for Krugman's work explaining the patterns of international trade and the geographic concentration of wealth, by examining the impact of economies of scale and of consumer preferences for diverse goods and services.

Krugman is known in academia for his work on international economics (including trade theory, economic geography, and international finance),liquidity traps and currency crises. He is the 17th most widely cited economist in the world today and is ranked among the most influential academic thinkers in the US.

Amity Shlaes (born September 10, 1960) is an American author and columnist from New York, who writes about politics and economics. She currently serves as director of the 4% Growth Project, a key economic initiative of the George W. Bush Institute.

Amity Shlaes graduated from Yale University magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in English in 1982.

For the past five years, Miss Shlaes has been writing a syndicated column for Bloomberg News. The column appears weekly both on Bloomberg terminals and websites, and in papers such as the Orange County Register, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, San Francisco Chronicle, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Miss Shlaes also writes a print column for Forbes Magazine, rotating with Lee Kwan Yew, David Malpass, and Paul Johnson.

She is also a regular contributor to Marketplace, the public radio show. She has appeared on numerous other radio and television shows over the course of her career.

Prior to writing her column for Bloomberg, Miss Shlaes was a columnist for the Financial Times for five years, until September 2005. Before that she was a member of the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal, specializing in economics. She followed the collapse of communism for the Wall Street Journal/Europe and in the early 1990s she served as the Journal's op-ed editor.

Richard C. Koo (Japanese: リチャード・クー, IPA: [ɽit͡ɕaːdu͍ ku͍ː]; Chinese: 辜朝明; pinyin: Gū Cháomíng; born 1954) is a Taiwanese economist residing in Japan specializing in balance sheet recessions. He is Chief Economist at the Nomura Research Institute.

Saying Koo's 2011 "causes, cure, and politics" publication "has gone viral on the Web", Landon Thomas in the New York Times featured Koo's analysis in late 2011. Thomas was discussing the divergence between the way the U.S. and British governments addressed their banking crises in the 2008-9 financial crisis and the way Europe was beginning to do in late 2011.

Carmen M. Reinhart (née Castellanos, born October 7, 1955) is the Dennis Weatherstone Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. Previously, she was Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for International Economics at the University of Maryland. She is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, Founding Contributor of VoxEU, and a member of Council on Foreign Relations. She is also member of American Economic Association, Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association, and Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Reinhart arrived in the United States on January 6, 1966, with her mother and father and three suitcases. They settled in Pasadena, California during the early years before moving to South Florida, where she grew up. When the family moved to Miami, Reinhart started college at two-year Miami Dade College, before transferring to Florida International University, where she received a B.A. in Economics (summa cum laude) in 1975. Recommended by Peter Montiel, an M.I.T. graduate teaching at FIU, Reinhart in 1978 went on to attend Columbia University graduate school. After Reinhart had passed her field examinations, she was hired as an economist by Bear Stearns, becoming the investment bank's chief economist three years later. In 1988 she returned to Columbia to obtain her Ph.D. under supervision of Robert Mundell. In the 1990s, she held several positions in the International Monetary Fund. From 2001 to 2003 she returned to the International Monetary Fund as Deputy Director at the Research Department.
