An example of mouth music ... this can be found in various forms throughout the world, but it is highly developed among the Gaels. Later it became part of the musical baggage of Scottish and Irish emigrants and travelled with them to Nova Scotia and down through the Appalachians.
The term "mouth music" translates of the Gaelic / Irish portaireacht bhéil or " puirt a beul" ("tunes from the mouth") with other Gaelic forms known as lilting, diddling, cantaireacht and so on.
It is sometimes sung with sparse instrumental accompaniment (bones, bells, drums) but is mostly unaccompanied. Originally mouth music was not so much for entertainment per se, but in its utility as e.g. dance accompaniment or in helping out in daily tasks e.g. making manual work lighter.

Irish Bouzouki made by Lewis Santer, played by John Faulkner at home in Kinvara, Co. Galway
Mike Considine (irishmusicla.com) took this bouzouki with him on a trip to his Irish home in Kinvara. He recorded a handful of top players playing it including this snippet of John Faulkner singing "Edward Connors". The bouzouki has California Black acacia back and sides, an Engelmann spruce top, a scale length of 25.4" and an ebony bridge with bleached wenge feet. More footage soon!

Part 5: Back to Blacktown - Senator the Hon John Faulkner
On 13 November 1972 the towering figure of Gough Whitlam took the stage at Blacktown's Bowman Hall. The hall was packed to overflowing. That night proved to be one of the most significant in Australian political history, and Gough Whitlam delivered the speech that changed a nation.
40 years on from this speech, on November 13 2012, the Whitlam Institute within the University of Western Sydney booked out the Bowman Hall for a night of commemoration and celebration. More information is available at www.whitlam.org/news_and_events/back_to_blacktown

"A Closer Walk"
I wrote this song several years ago and then performed it for a few more years before I took it to the studio for recording. It speaks of Yeshua (Jesus) calling all of us into a closer walk (relationship) with Him. As the days go by we grow closer and closer to the return of our Messiah. I's time to make sure our relationship with Him is where it should be and we're not found sleeping and caught unaware of His return. This reminds me of the 10 virgins in Matt. 25:1-13. Please consider the magnitude of your lose if your found without any oil in your lamp when He returns. This song has also gone by the name "Follow Him". Be Blessed in Messiah Yeshua. Shalom.
