Parker, South Dakota

Parker is a city in Turner County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 1,024 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Turner County. It is bordered on its eastern side by South Dakota State Highway 19. Its northern side is bordered by South Dakota State Highway 44. It is about 8 miles northwest of Chancellor, 42 miles east of Parkston, and 41 miles south of Madison.

History

Parker was established in 1879 as county seat; it was incorporated as a city in 1883. The name Parker was the maiden name of a railroad official's wife.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.15 square miles (2.98 km²), all of it land.

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,022 people, 438 households, and 292 families residing in the city. The population density was 888.7 inhabitants per square mile (343.1/km²). There were 489 housing units at an average density of 425.2 per square mile (164.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.6% White, 0.3% African American, 0.4% Native American, 0.1% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, and 1.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.0% of the population.

Parker is a city in Linn County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 277.

History

Parker was laid out about 1889. It was named for J. W. Parker, who owned the town site.

The first post office in Parker was established in December 1888.

As of the census of 2010, there were 277 people, 100 households, and 66 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,025.9 inhabitants per square mile (396.1/km²). There were 115 housing units at an average density of 425.9 per square mile (164.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.9% White, 0.4% from other races, and 0.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.4% of the population.

There were 100 households of which 42.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% were married couples living together, 7.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 34.0% were non-families. 26.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 10% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.39.

Parker is a city in Bay County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 4,317. It is part of the Panama City–Lynn Haven–Panama City Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The racial makeup of the city was 78.5% White, 12.5% African American, 0.9% American Indian or Alaska Native, 2.5% Asian, 1.2% some other race, and 4.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.6% of the population.
