Webcam video from March 2, 2013 4:45 PM Allegheny River, Monongahela River & Ohio River
The Allegheny River (pron.: /ælɨˈɡeɪni/) is a principal tributary of the Ohio River; it is located in the Eastern United States. The Allegheny River joins with the Monongahela River to form the Ohio River at the "Point" of Point State Park in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Allegheny River is, by volume, the main headstream of the Ohio River.
The Monongahela River (pron.: /məˌnɒnɡəˈhiːlə/[10]) — often referred to locally as the Mon (/ˈmɒn/) — is a 130-mile-long (210 km)[6] river on the Allegheny Plateau in north-central West Virginia and southwestern Pennsylvania. The Monongahela joins the Allegheny River to form the Ohio River at Pittsburgh.
The Ohio River (Seneca: ohi:yó[2]) is the largest tributary, by volume, of the Mississippi River. At the confluence, the Ohio is even bigger than the Mississippi (Ohio at Cairo: 281,500 cu ft/s (7,960 m3/s);[3] Mississippi at Thebes: 208,200 cu ft/s (5,897 m3/s)[4]) and, thus, is hydrologically the main stream of the whole river system, including the Allegheny River further upstream. It is approximately 981 miles (1,579 km) long and is located in the Eastern United States.

Utæt brønd i Allegheny National skov
The Allegheny also spelled Alleghany, Allegany and, informally, the Alleghenies — is part of the vast Appalachian Mountain Range of the eastern United States and Canada. It has a northeast-southwest orientation and runs for about 400 miles (640 km) from north-central Pennsylvania, through western Maryland and eastern West Virginia, to southwestern Virginia.
The Alleghenies comprise the rugged western-central portion of the Appalachians. They rise to approximately 4,862 feet (1,483 m) in northeastern West Virginia. In the east, they are dominated by a high, steep escarpment known as the Allegheny Front. In the west, they grade down into the closely associated Allegheny Plateau which extends into Ohio and Kentucky.

Hickman Woods - Family History
Hickman Lumber is a 4 generation family owned and operated business located in the heart of the Allegheny Plateau in western PA.
Harry Hickman started the sawmill after eloping in the 1930s. They lived in a traveling cabin in the woods as he and his team of horses sawed lumber for mine timbers.
2nd Generation, Larry Hickman and 3rd Generation Dennis Hickman expanded the sawmill, became experts in rift & quarter sawing, and expanded the business creating Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring.
Today 2 of Denny's children, Jake & Jessica, are working for the family business.
Learn about our family's struggles and growth in the history of Hickman Lumber, as well as the business operations. Enjoy some beautiful photography and video from the Appalachian Mountain forests, the production process, and the award winning finished flooring product.

River Dreams - The Susquehanna
Susquehanna River's source is Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, New York. Once in Pennsylvania, the river cuts through the Endless Mountains in the Allegheny Plateau, flowing through the former anthracite industrial heartland of the mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania: past Wilkes-Barre, Nanticoke, Berwick, Bloomsburg, and Danville. Past Selinsgrove, home of Susquehanna University, the Susquehanna River becomes nearly a mile wide as it passes through the capital of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg. Downriver it forms the border between York and Lancaster counties, then crosses into Maryland. Finally the mighty Susquehanna reaches its mouth at Havre de Grace on the northern end of the Chesapeake Bay, where Concord Point Light was built in 1827. The watershed includes portions of the Allegheny Plateau region of the Appalachian Mountains, cutting through many water gaps in the mountain ridges, the last water gap going through Blue Mountain above Harrisburg. Over two hundred bridges cross the river along its 444 mile length.

Allegheny Front - US Route 50 in WV
This is a descent from the Allegheny Plateau into the valley and ridge province of West Virginia. The descent is 1500 feet in 3 miles (much more fun running up the ridge rather than down but I was heading east this time). Start point is 39°19'34.07"N/ 79° 7'19.61"W end point is 39°20'16.50"N/ 79° 4'55.32"W

Trapping Backwoods Coyotes in the Snow
This DVD is about trapping coyotes in the woods of the Allegheny Plateau. I trap in the forests of Pennsylvania, where the terrain is hilly and covered with trails and roads. These tactics will work for you anywhere you find snow, coyotes and woods. You will not see dirt, but all snow sets. I catch many coyotes in the winter and get several questions about my winter trapping techniques. Unlike my winter DVD where I show you about keeping a trap working, this DVD will teach you how to trap and use sets effectively in the snow. I cover many sets, use drags, and catch a bunch of woods coyotes that fall into the tricks of the trade. Clear, entertaining and informative, this 2-hour, high-quality DVD features many catches. Come along on my trapline again for exciting new catches, where I'll share my secrets of becoming a successful snow trapper. Great trapping! Darin

Richard and Lucile Durrell Edge of Appalachia Preserve
Cincinnati Museum Center reaches far beyond the doors of Union Terminal. As you travel east through Adams County in south-central Ohio, the rugged hills of the Allegheny Plateau rise abruptly above the countryside. Here, at the Appalachian escarpment, sprawls one of the most biologically diverse collections of natural systems in the Midwestern United States. We have come to call it the Edge of Appalachia Preserve, and we have been working with out collaborative partner, the Ohio Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, to protect this area for more than 50 years.

New York City In Daylight
New York City In Daylight - Video By Herman Ashley - Recorded with a Flip Ultra Hd camcorder.
New York covers 54,556 square miles (141,300 km2) and ranks as the 27th largest state by size.[5] The Great Appalachian Valley dominates eastern New York, while Lake Champlain is the chief northern feature of the valley, which also includes the Hudson River flowing southward to the Atlantic Ocean. The rugged Adirondack Mountains, with vast tracts of wilderness, lie west of the valley.
Most of the southern part of the state is on the Allegheny Plateau, which rises from the southeast to the Catskill Mountains. The western section of the state is drained by the Allegheny River and rivers of the Susquehanna and Delaware systems. The Delaware River Basin Compact, signed in 1961 by New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the federal government, regulates the utilization of water of the Delaware system. The highest elevation in New York is Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks.[3]
New York's borders touch (clockwise from the west) two Great Lakes (Erie and Ontario, which are connected by the Niagara River); the provinces of Ontario and Quebec in Canada; Lake Champlain; three New England states (Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut); the Atlantic Ocean, and two Mid-Atlantic States, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In addition, Rhode Island shares a water border with New York. New York is the only state that touches both the Great Lakes and the Atlantic Ocean.
In contrast with New York City's urban atmosphere, the vast majority of the state is dominated by farms, forests, rivers, mountains, and lakes. New York's Adirondack Park is the largest state park in the United States. It is larger than the Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier and Olympic National Parks combined.[6] New York established the first state park in the United States at Niagara Falls in 1885. Niagara Falls, on the Niagara River as it flows from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, is a popular attraction.
The Hudson River begins with Lake Tear of the Clouds and flows south through the eastern part of the state without draining Lakes George or Champlain. Lake George empties at its north end into Lake Champlain, whose northern end extends into Canada, where it drains into the Richelieu and then the St. Lawrence Rivers. Four of New York City's five boroughs are on the three islands at the mouth of the Hudson River: Manhattan Island, Staten Island, and Brooklyn and Queens on Long Island.
Upstate and downstate are often used informally to distinguish New York City or its greater metropolitan area from the rest of New York state. The placement of a boundary between the two is a matter of great contention.[7] Unofficial and loosely defined regions of Upstate New York include the Southern Tier, which often includes the counties along the border with Pennsylvania.[8] and the North Country, which can mean anything from the strip along the Canadian border to everything north of the Mohawk River

Neversink River, New York - The Nature Conservancy
The Neversink river -- on the high Allegheny Plateau in New York -- has rare and endangered aquatic species that initially attracted The Nature Conservancy's interest. Scientists quickly determined their protection was contingent on conservation of the entire river system.

YIRUMA -- RIVER FLOWS IN YOU
PITTSBURGH , PENNSYLVANIA
-The city is on the Allegheny Plateau, where the confluence of the Allegheny River from the northeast and Monongahela River from the southeast form the Ohio River. The Downtown area between the rivers is known as the Golden Triangle, and the site at the actual convergence, which is occupied by Point State Park, is referred to simply as "the Point." In addition to the downtown Golden Triangle, the city extends northeast to include the Oakland and Shadyside sections, which are home to the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Carnegie Museum and Library, and many other educational, medical, and cultural institutions.
Pittsburgh occupies the slopes of the river valley on the opposite side of the Monongahela and the ridges beyond. Many of the city's neighborhoods, particularly the city's North Side and those areas south of the Monongahela, are steeply sloped. In fact, of all U.S. cities, only San Francisco and Seattle have more extreme terrain.
