Disaster Presidency: Two weeks under Bush (Nov 2007)
The "Obama" Recession?
Clips of all the miserable news in just a two week period beginning on November 1, 2007, culminating with clips of comments from some the GOP Presidential hopefuls and their mechanistic wet dreams of nuking Iran.
Note this is TWO MONTHS before the Presidential campaign, when Obama was barely a blip in the polls and everyone thought Rudy Giuliani would be our next President.

Flood in Železniki, Slovenia 2007 - Two weeks later
Description of the pictures here:
Two week after the "flash" flood in Železniki. The bridges were still out. The army made some temporary bridges. We had to cross over a fallen tree. I fell and hurt my chin a bit. I'm an idiot.
The pictures:
1. Flooded football field. There was at least 1 m of mud and water still there
2. Rubble by the road
3. Rubble by the furnace from 1826
4. The water level is visible here. The
ground floor was completely flooded
6. The path by the river completely
wiped out
8. Water level clearly visible
9. Old barn destroyed
12. House by the river badly damaged
13. Water level clearly visible
14. Destroyed bridge
15. Three and a half feet tall stone wall missing
16. Medical center flooded. All the history charts destroyed
18.-20. Land slides
21. Rubble left behind by the raging water
22. A section of the road missing
25. A temporary bridge
26-29. Rubble left behind by the raging water
30. Tree fell over the water. We had to cross there
32. Poor Herbie (un)Loaded, destroyed by the flood
37. Cars that ware salvaged from the water ware brought to a field, where owners could claim them. Not all cars ware found by that time. There was at least 150 cars in on this field, and a bus. This is not a scrap yard. This are actual cars, destroyed in the flood.

Film Description: Into the Wild is writer/director Sean Penn's adaptation of the popular book by Jon Krakauer, a nonfiction account of the post-collegiate wanderings of a young Virginia man, who divorces himself from his friends, family, and possessions in search of a greater spiritual knowledge and communion with nature. Upon his 1990 graduation from Emory University in Atlanta, Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch) walks away from a loving if dysfunctional family and sends his nearly 25,000-dollar life savings to Oxfam International. Instead of the normal life his parents planned for him, Chris rechristens himself "Alexander Supertramp" and heads west in his beaten-up automobile until it no longer runs, at which point he takes up hitchhiking. The goal on the horizon? Alaska. By hook or by crook -- but without his limited cash, which he symbolically sets aflame -- Chris/Alexander determines to make it to his personal promised land, with stops along the way to experience America and its people. These adventures include a kayak trip down dangerous rapids, a gig working in a grain mill, extended stays with a hippie couple and a kindly old widower -- and enough cold, hunger, and exhaustion to leave him emotionally defeated more than once. Meanwhile, his parents (William Hurt and Marcia Gay Harden) and sister (Jena Malone) haven't received so much as a postcard from him, and begin to fear the worst. Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder composed the contemplative soundtrack.

Sigur Ros - Heima Trailer
More information and pre-order is at:
http://www.beggarsgroupusa.com/sigurros/
XL Recordings is pleased to announce that Sigur Rós will break their two-year silence to release their first-ever film on November 20, 2007 and a companion album two weeks before on November 6, 2007. Filmed over two weeks during the Summer of 2007 when the band undertook a free tour of Iceland, 'Heima' stands as a colossal labour of love - not to say grand folly - typical of this most exacting of bands.
'Heima' (icelandic for "at home" or "homeland"), truly, shows Sigur Rós as never before. Whereas seeing the group live is normally a large-scale and sometimes overwhelming experience, making full use of lights and mesmeric visuals, 'heima' was always intended to reveal more of what was actually going on on stage. It does this via long-held close-ups and a rare intimate proximity, without ever once breaking the spell. 'Heima' was directed by dean deblois, a long-time fan of the band and director of the oscar-nominated animated feature 'lilo & stitch', using an icelandic crew.
'Hvarf-Heim', the companion album, is more cousin than sister release. It has two titles because it is in effect two separate, but complementary, entities, with -- get this -- two front covers and a limited edition run of two discs.

Music and Lyrics Trailer
Written and directed by Marc Lawrence (Two Weeks Notice), the romantic comedy Music & Lyrics By follows Alex Fletcher (HUGH GRANT), a washed-up 80s pop star who's been reduced to working the nostalgia circuit at county fairs and amusement parks. The charismatic and talented musician gets a chance at a comeback when reigning diva Cora Corman invites him to write and record a duet with her, but there's a problem -- Alex hasn't written a song in years, he's never written lyrics, and he has to come up with a hit in a matter of days. Enter Sophie Fisher (DREW BARRYMORE), Alex's beguilingly quirky plant lady, whose flair for words strikes a chord with the struggling songwriter. On the rebound from a bad relationship, Sophie is reluctant to collaborate with anyone, especially commitment-phobe Alex. As their chemistry heats up at the piano and under it, Alex and Sophie will have to face their fears -- and the music -- if they want to find the love and success they both deserve.

------
it's my first time try to make a stop-motion animation.
I used to be a senior student majoring in commercial design who had no interest whatsoever in animation. However, last summer I saw a amazing work "SNASK" (http://vimeo.com/10435821) , which awakened in me a huge interest in Stop-Motion. This was also my very first encounter towards videos.
Indeed, "Coffee Time" was adapted from Mike Crozier's animation "SNASK", I used that as a template for my own first practice video made with stop-motion. I tried to recreate the effects from "SNASK" (http://vimeo.com/10435821) , and I learned so much from this process. At the end of the video, I mixed in an animation containing my personal favorite coffee elements.
It's not apply to any commercial act. It only served as my first practice of stop-motion, and I show great appreciation and respect for Mike Crozier. The original producer was notified prior to the publishing of the video. My initial intention was to humbly share my practicing result with relatives and friends. But now the consequence was totally out of my expectation. I am greatly honored by all the feedback and encouragement, which I am deeply appreciative of.
I hope that everyone can put more emphasis on the processing. For me, a heart-touching film is like a good mentor, exerting much influence. And "SNASK" is just like a mother to me, bearing the interests for stop-motion, and inspiring me with the motive of learning. All the praises and admiration the video has received undoubtedly belongs to Mike Crozier.
It took me one month for deliberation, production, prop preparation, almost two weeks of shooting, and 1,705 pieces of photos to finish the video.

MÖBIUS - Federation Square
A collaborative stop motion sculpture
Twenty-one large triangles animated by Melbourne, throughout Federation Square. MÖBIUS is a sculpture that can be configured into many cyclical patterns and behave as though it is eating itself, whilst sinking into the ground. The result is an optical illusion and a time-lapse of people
interacting with the sculpture and moving through Melbourne's landmark location throughout the day.
MÖBIUS was animated over two weeks Friday, Saturday & Sunday between the 6th - 20th of May 2011.

The Thomas Beale Cipher
Based on a true legend of the famous unsolved code.
The film contains 16 hidden messages that hold clues to the characters' secrets. Eight are fairly easy requiring only a close eye. Six are moderately difficult using various encryption methods. Two are extremely difficult requiring a genius mind to decrypt.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Will this be on iTunes?
--No, not the iTunes store, but it can be in your iTunes for free. Download it from my website, djearworm.com. You don't need to pay the iTunes store to put free mp3s in your iTunes software, you just download the mp3 and then double-click on it (or drag it into your iTunes if that doesn't work).
2. Why is that artist I hate in your list, and why isn't that artist I love in your list?
--This is based on the Top 25 songs of Billboard's 2009 year-end list. I didn't choose the songs. The complete list is here: http://www.billboard.com/charts-year-end#/charts-year-end/hot-100-songs?year=2009
3. Why is that song from last year in the list? Why isn't that song which was so popular toward the end of the year on the list?
--Billboard's cutoff date is Dec 1st, to give them time to calculate the results and publish them well before New Years Day, which is good for me, since I need a little time to put this together and release it before the end of the year!
4. How long did this take you?
--If you add it up, about a month. About two weeks earlier in the year using educated guesswork, and then two weeks between when Billboard released the list and when I put it out.
5. What software did you use?
--Ableton Live for arranging the music. It's AWESOME, and it's what I use to DJ live with as well. Final Cut Pro for the video. For acapella extraction, see the next question.
6. How did you get the vocals without the instruments?
--if you search for "acapella" with the name of your song, you might find an isolated vocal. In some cases, I use a bit of Adobe Audition (the Center Channel Extractor effect) for vocal isolation. This removes instruments that are to the left or right in your stereo, and leaves only the sound that's in the center. You can also use this effect to take an instrumental and a full track to create an acapella. Check out my book "Audio Mashup Construction Kit" for more details on this technique, there's a whole chapter on it. In a few instances I used Melodyne Studio for vocal isolation.
7. What are the lyrics? Who sang that one part? I didn't hear that one artist!
--I've posted the complete lyrics here, as well as a guide to where each of the lyrics and instruments came from:
http://djearworm.com/united-state-of-pop-2009-blame-it-on-the-pop-lyrics.htm
8. I want to make mashups, do you have any tips?
--Learn as much music theory as possible! Get ACID or Ableton Live, and learn it well. Make sure you understand key and tempo, so you can sync everything and get the parts to harmonize correctly. If you're of a technical mindset, my book "Audio Mashup Construction Kit" covers my techniques in great detail.
9. Can I repost this video?
--please, no, and thanks for asking! Use the music however you want, but don't simply repost the video in its entirety on your channel. I lots of people are doing it, but I wish they wouldn't!
10. Doesn't this prove how much pop music sucks nowadays and is basically interchangeable?
--Not at all. If you alter the tempo and pitch of any music enough, you could get anything to fit together, whether it's Bach or the Black Eyed Peas. What it does prove is how far technology has come to make these alterations sound convincing. I've manipulated some of these vocals HEAVILY.
