Billy Collins - The Lanyard
Complete video at: fora.tv Former US Poet Laureate Billy Collins reads his poem, "The Lanyard." ----- Poet Billy Collins is a unique literary figure - a widely read contemporary poet. The former US Poet Laureate and New York State Poet has received fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Guggenheim Foundation, though his most dramatic honors come from a wide and appreciative readership. Collins's poetry collections, including The Trouble With Poetry and Other Poems, Nine Horses, Sailing Alone Around the Room, and Picnic, Lightening, have broken records for poetry sales. His writing is marked by inventiveness beyond traditional poetry forms with ironic twists and lyrical turns of phrase that resonate powerfully. An advocate for integrating poetry into everyday life, Collins compiled the anthologies Poetry 180 and 180 More with poems for every day of a typical school year. Billy Collins has been a professor of English at Lehman College of the City University of New York since 1968 - City Arts & Lectures Billy Collins is the author of several books of poetry and two anthologies of contemporary poetry, including The Trouble with Poetry: And Other Poems; The Arts of Drowning, which was a finalist for the Lenore Marshall prize; and Questions About Angels, which won the National Poetry Series in 1990. How to tie a lanyard knot
More knotty stuff on my blog: stormdrane.blogspot.com This video tutorial shows how to tie a lanyard knot with a loop. I used and 18 inch length of paracord for the demonstration, which is more than needed, but this will work with various length of cord. After the knot is tied, I also show the adjustment of the loop size by finding one of the loop leads and creating slack, which is worked back thru the knot. You can do it the other way around to make the loop longer. This is just the way 'I' learned to tie this knot, there are other methods shown in books and online if you look for them. More paracord work can be found on Instructables.com and google will also bring up a lot of info. The music with the video is from YouTube's audioswap, and is listed as 'The Tar Baby' by Ryan Kickland. Knot responsibly.

Two-Bight Turk's-Head Paracord Lanyard
More knotty stuff on my blog: stormdrane.blogspot.com This video tutorial will show how to tie a Two-Bight Turk's-Head lanyard using about 5.5 feet of 550 paracord. The Turk's Head part of the knot is described in 'The Ashley Book of Knots', knot #595. I added the lanyard knot and loop on the end to make it useful as a lanyard. The actual time it took me to make the lanyard, from start to finish, was under 20 minutes, but I edited the video down to 10 minutes. The time consuming parts are making additional passes and then tightening up and working the slack out of the knot. Knot responsibly. A great site to visit, for those interested in knot work, is Knot Heads World Wide www.khww.net Another to learn from is Animated Knots by Grog www.animatedknots.com *The AudioSwap music that is playing with the video is 'Amy' by Thinkstandard.

How To Make A Paracord Bracelet or Lanyard
This is my shortened version of how to make a survival bracelet with paracord. I did so many takes on this video, I had to settle for the best one. I forgot to mention that this knot is called the "cobra" knot. You can also do a "king cobra" knot by tying the cobra knot again on top of an already finished cobra knot (this makes a bracelet of the same thickness of the ones I show at the beginning of the video). Also, I did the duo tone (OD green and black) by simply fusing two different colors together on my knot rope. You can do this by just melting the ends and then pushing the ends together quickly before they solidify. Hope this makes some kind of sense and helps if you are trying to learn how to do it!

Tip To hold the hook steady, place a tack into a wall and secure the lanyard hook to the tack. Step 2: Braid Braid the cord by weaving the piece farthest to your right under the two center cords. Then weave it over the cord on the left. Step 3: Reverse and tighten Weave the far left cord under the two center cords and then over the top of the ...

► Lanyard Spin Top - Random Tutorial
[CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO] I was playing around with rexlace and got bored with doing my box stitch- so I cut more pieces and tried joining them... then I realized I made an X with a giant hole. I thought it looked "unfinished" and stuck more strings into the mix- then I made this weird star thing... I messed with it and then randomly decided to spin it and it worked... I've successfully invented the rexlace spinning top. Enjoy. The Paracordist's Tactical Retention Lanyard II
www.Paracordist.com Http twitter.com So this is an advancement to my original paracord creation the "PSK Lanyard" (see my other video). Based on great input from others, I've removed the knot at the bottom that forms a loop and replaced it with two decorative stoppers. This allows one to draw up the paracord bead when hiking, resulting in two single strands and NO LOOP to catch or snag in the bush. When the paracord bead is slid down, a loop of adjustable size accommodates thumb-thong style grip, or just a simple wrist leash for retention (for use on a boat for example).
