Will Beatty

William Keith Beatty (born March 2, 1985) is an American football offensive tackle who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Giants in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Connecticut.

Professional career

Pre-Draft

Beatty participated in the 2009 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. He wore the OL2 jersey. He was a top performer in the 40yd Dash, the Vertical Jump, the Broad Jump, and the 3 Cone Drill. Beatty did 27 reps of 225 lbs at the Combine, but elected to re-do the Bench at the UCONN Pro-Day, where he did 30 reps of 225 lbs.

Draft

Beatty was drafted with the 28th pick of the second round (#60 overall) by the New York Giants in the 2009 NFL draft. On July 30, 2009, the Giants announced that they had signed Beatty to a 4-year contract worth $2.67 million.

Rookie Season 2009

In his rookie season, Beatty played in all 16 games. He began the season as a special teams player and situational tight end when the Giants wanted to use an extra blocking tight end. Beatty started 4 games in his rookie campaign at Right Tackle, replacing the injured Kareem McKenzie. His first career start came against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday Night Football on NBC on October 25, 2009. This ended the current streak of 38 consecutive starts by the offensive line unit. Not until the final 3 games of the regular season did Beatty get the opportunity to start again as McKenzie went down with another injury. Beatty started against the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football on December 21, 2009; the Carolina Panthers on December 27, 2009; and the Minnesota Vikings on January 3, 2010. In all of the final 3 games Beatty went up against premier defensive ends including Washington's Brian Orakpo, Carolina's Julius Peppers, and Minnesota's Jared Allen. The Giants failed to make the playoffs in 2009 despite winning their first 5 games of the year.

Eli Manning

Elisha Nelson Manning (born January 3, 1981), known as Eli Manning, is an American football quarterback for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He is the son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and the younger brother of Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning played college football at the University of Mississippi after attending prep school at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans. He was drafted as the first overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers and immediately traded to the New York Giants, who in return gave up a package highlighted by fourth overall selection Philip Rivers.

Manning holds Giants franchise records for most passing yards, touchdown passes and completed passes in a career, and the NFL record for most fourth-quarter touchdown passes in a season. He led the Giants to victory in Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI, defeating the New England Patriots in both games. Manning was named Most Valuable Player in each Super Bowl, becoming one of only five football players to have two or more Super Bowl MVP rings (Bart Starr and Terry Bradshaw have two, while Joe Montana and Tom Brady have three Super Bowl MVP rings). He is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 4,900 yards and win the Super Bowl in the same season. Manning is also currently the active iron man for consecutive starts by a quarterback. Often cited as a game manager with statistics significantly lower than his brother Peyton, they each have two Super Bowl rings. Eli is the third quarterback in NFL history with at least 44,000 career yards, 290 touchdowns, four Pro Bowl appearances and two Super Bowl championships, joining John Elway and Tom Brady. Brother Peyton became the fourth quarterback to join the club after winning his second championship in February 2016.
