Ancient Greek - Lesson 1 - The Ancient Greek Alphabet
This video covers the Ancient Greek Alphabet. I'm a Greek native speaker. I use the Erasmian pronunciation with some adaptations, so you can sound more Greek. I'm not going to use the concepts of long and short vowels because we don't have sure how the Ancient Greeks used to do it. There are no Ancient Greek native livings anymore. There is no recordings. Also, our modern greek ears cannot understand long and short vowels anymore. So, let's make the Ancient Greek simple. If this video was helpful. Let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions about this video. For more information and video lessons, visit my Youtube page.

Lyrics: Nikos Veliotis
Music: Pantelis Thalassinos
First version: Pantelis Thalassinos
Do love the mountains and the seas, do,
the familiar places and the unknown,
the birds, the flowers, the clouds,
and do love the people very much, do.
Do love the wild animals and the fierce ones,
the islands, the rivers, the stars, do.
And if ever they wound you in the heart,
friends, bad nights, white doves,
love them, do, forget, find joy
in your own peace and in all things
that light our mind with love
and sprout lilies that never fade.
Lyrics: Nikos Veliotis
Musica: Pantelis Thalassinos
Prima esecuzione: Pantelis Thalassinos
Ama le montagne e i mari,
amici, bestie, colombe bianche,

***UPDATE / 100.000 Plays!***
After just a week, we reached the awesome goal of 100K plays. Thanks to everybody who shared, commented, liked and got inspired by watching Further Up Yonder. It has been an intense week, spent answering a ton of nice messages that people from all over the world sent to me. You made possible to have this video featured on blogs, forums and major media websites during this week. You helped this video crossing borders, as the astronauts asked us, reaching out to every continent. Thanks for your incredible support. Keep sharing!
***TO THE STARS!***
A timelapse message from ISS to all Humankind. - 2K version available on my blog: http://wp.me/p2fVm6-bv
I wanted to use pictures taken from the International Space Station to tell a story and share the message sent by the astronauts who worked on the station in the last 11 years.
They are working to open a Gateway to Space for all humankind, but people on Earth must understand that they have to get rid of the concept of borders on our planet if they want to follow the astronauts to new worlds in outer space. While the cosmonauts speak a day passes on Earth, from dawn to sunset, until the Gateway opens with a burst of light. The ISS then gains speed, the astronauts are leaving our planet which they see spinning faster and faster, merging earth, oceans and people together, ready to follow them, Further Up Yonder.
Making of
As a filmmaking student, this was my first attempt to craft a timelapse video. It has been a time consuming process, but it turned out as one of my most satisfying projects.
I focused my workflow on colours and harmony of movements, syncing every frame with the music and the voices of the astronauts. Every picture has been post processed individually before being imported in the NLE software, as I tried to take the most out of every image in terms of colours, contrast and neatiness.
Pictures were downloaded from the Image Science & Analysis Laboratory, NASA Johnson Space Center and edited with Photoshop CS6. Even if they were Hi-res images shot with Nikon D3S cameras, a lot of noise removal and color correction was needed, especially for those shots at ISO 3200, which was the highest ISO speed limit I've allowed myself to use, exception made for the last sequence of the spinning world, which comes from a sequenze of shots taken at ISO 12800. Daytime shots were taken at ISO 200. I've used Topaz Denoise 5 for noise removal, as it is very powerful and accurate when dealing with shadows and blacks.
Editing was made with Adobe Premiere CS6, with a 2K workflow, which allowed me to scale, rotate and pan image sequences whose native resolution is 4K. The video was downscaled to 1280x720 resolution for Vimeo. The original 2K version is available for download on my blog (link on top of this description).

Journey Through the Cross: #2 The Power of God
Paul, Bond-Slave to the King!
Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ, To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul designates his highest office as bond-servant (doulos). He puts that before his office as apostle.
Paul calls himself a bond slave of Christ Jesus. The case classification is genitive of possession. The apostle is proud of the fact that he is a slave belonging to his Lord. There were certain individuals in the Roman empire designated "Slaves of the Emperor." This was a position of honor. One finds a reflection of this in Paul's act of designating himself as a slave of the King of kings. He puts this ahead of his apostleship.
You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV)
We are not our own, and Paul was proud of that fact. Instead of seeing Christianity as a system of do's and don'ts, he saw it as the privilege of privileges. His was a position of honor.
Who you are in life is largely a result of how you see yourself. We tend to value our life on the basis of our job, our possessions, our influence, our friends, our activities. Paul saw his value by Whose he was. He was a servant of the King of Kings. Who are you? When you lay in bed at night, do you fret about your health, the things you need to do, the things you didn't do? If you are a slave of the King of Kings, you have no rights over tomorrow, over your body, over your job. He has total control. There is no need to fret, no need to worry, no need to be concerned. Only the need to praise Him, draw closer to Him, wait patiently upon Him.
He was a slave first, an apostle second.
The adjective comes from the verb kaleō, "to call" in the sense here of "to call to assume an office." Paul was a called apostle in the sense that God summoned him to that position and placed him in it
Most translations say called to be an apostle, but actually the greek simply says (κλητὸς ἀπόστολος) "kletos apostolos", called apostle.
Paul heard the call of Christ on the Damascus Road, and in answering that call and seeing His Savior, he was placed as one of Christ's Apostles. He took the place of the son of perdition-Judas.
What enabled the violent, self-possessed Saul to become the slave Apostle of the one he admittedly wanted crucified?
Paul allowed himself to be set apart for the Gospel of God!
But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace, Galatians 1:15 (ESV)
But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. Acts 9:15 (ESV)
Paul became a chosen instrument, a chosen vessel for Jesus Christ! Was he forced to comply on the Damascus Road? It may seem that way. Blinded by a strange light, hearing a strange voice-he could have resisted and kept on kicking against the Lord. Or he could have made a profession, but inwardly resented the Jesus. In any case we never would have heard from old Paul again. He would have been a pothole on the pavement of life.
But something happened to this fiery little dynamo. All his training, his intelligence, his passion for the Law and the ways of the Jews melted away when he gazed upon the one whom he had been persecuting. Yes, Paul was made to realize that he had not only been maiming and murdering 'Christians', but he had been doing the same to the very Son of God, the Messiah whom he professed to love so much.
We can't begin to fathom what the Holy Spirit was doing in those three days after his experience on the road to Damascus. But whatever it was, when Saul gave his life to Jesus Christ, he was changed completely. He was a new man, he was set apart no longer to just Jehovah. He was set apart into the GOSPEL of GOD!
Set Apart Into the Gospel
aphōrismenos (aphorizmo)
He was set apart into the Gospel, because the set apart is the word aphoridzo which pictures marking an area with boundaries, with a wall or fence.
So it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous Matthew 13:49 (ESV)
The Gospel of God is a natural divider of man. It will be the divider in the end times. People, you can either believe God or you can chose not to.

If the slides pass too fast, pause.
I also will be happy to hear your requests, or corrections.
Oh, I'm sorry I forgot the letter ή when I showed the accent on top of the vowels.

Byzantine Hymn for Nativity in Greek language
Byzantine Hymn for the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ (in Greek language) Wondrous Mystery
Magnify, O my soul, her who is more honorable and more exalted in glory than the heavenly hosts.
I behold a strange and wonderful mystery: the cave a heaven, the Virgin a cherubic throne, and the manger a noble place in which hath lain Christ the uncontained God. Let us, therefore, praise and magnify Him.
Magnify, O my soul, the God born in flesh from the Virgin.
When the Magi saw a new and strange star appearing suddenly, moving in a wonderful way, and transcending the stars of heaven in brightness, they were guided by it to Christ, the King born on earth in Bethlehem, for our salvation.
Magnify, O my soul, the King born in a cave.
The Magi said, Where is the Child King, the newborn, Whose star hath appeared? For we have verily come to worship Him. And Herod, the contender against God, trembled, and began to roar in folly to kill Christ.
Magnify, O my soul, the God worshipped by the Magi.
Herod ascertained from the Magi about the time of the star by whose guidance they were led to Bethlehem to worship with presents Christ Who guided them, and so they returned to their country, disregarding Herod, the evil murderer of babes, mocking him.
Magi and shepherds came to worship Christ, Who was born in the city of Bethlehem.
Verily it is easier for us to endure silence since there is no dread danger there from for us. But because of our strong desire, O Virgin, and Mother of sameness, to begin well-balanced songs of praise, this becometh indeed onerous to us. Wherefore, grant us power to equal our natural inclination.
