Charlotte Hornets draft history
The original Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA) were established in 1988 as an expansion team, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team's roster was filled with unprotected players at the 1988 NBA Expansion Draft, and five days later the Hornets made their first picks out of college players at the 1988 NBA Draft. The Hornets remained in Charlotte for 14 seasons before relocating to New Orleans in 2002.
The first pick in the Hornets' history was Rex Chapman, a shooting guard from the University of Kentucky. The Hornets had three top-four picks and all of them have participated in the NBA All-Star Game: Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, and Baron Davis. In 1996, the Hornets drafted Kobe Bryant thirteenth overall, but traded him for Vlade Divac. Bryant is now an MVP, a four-time All-star game MVP, a two-time Finals MVP, a sixteen-time all-star, and a five-time NBA Champion.
Two years after the Hornets' departure, the Charlotte Bobcats were established in 2004 as the NBA's 30th team. The Bobcats first participated in the 2004 NBA Draft, two days after their expansion draft was held. The franchise's name was changed back to the Hornets at the conclusion of the 2013–14 season - one year after the team in Louisiana renamed itself the New Orleans Pelicans. The franchise's history and records while in Charlotte would also be returned to its original city.

The Charlotte Hornets are an American professional basketball team based in Charlotte, North Carolina, that competes in the National Basketball Association (NBA). They are members of the Southeast Division in the league's Eastern Conference. The team is largely owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan, who acquired controlling interest in the team in 2010. The Hornets play their home games at Time Warner Cable Arena in center-city Charlotte.
The original Hornets franchise was established in 1988 as an expansion team. The team owned by George Shinn relocated to New Orleans following the 2001–02 season, to become the New Orleans Hornets. In 2004 the NBA established, what was regarded at the time as a new expansion team in Charlotte, the Charlotte Bobcats. In 2013, the New Orleans franchise announced it would rebrand itself the New Orleans Pelicans, ultimately returning the Hornets name, records, and official history from 1988 to 2002 to Charlotte. The Bobcats were officially renamed the Charlotte Hornets for the 2014–15 NBA season.

The Charlotte Hornets, once a respected upstart Franchise starting in the 1989 NBA Season was at one point a team who had alot going for it in only existing for 14 seasons. From the duo of Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning that ended prematurely, trading for Glen Rice and Anthony Mason who had their time in the sun. And playing soon to be cult hero Mugsy Bouges and one of the best shooters of the 90s, Dell Curry. But as the Hornets became riddled with controversy, which we’ll get into later, the Hornets moved to New Orleans, and rebranded as the New Orleans Hornets. However, after a 2 year hiatus of no Charlotte Basketball, the Hornets came back as the final expansion team becoming the Bobcats in the 04-05 season. And as Charlotte sports fans reveled in reliving the good ole days, what they didn’t know is, the Bobcats and soon to be Hornets, would become the most disappointing Franchise in the NBA spanning 20 whole years. Whether that is making horrible draft selections that aged like milk, owners making moves that hinder the team, and or signings that push the team back rather than forward. These are the many types of blunders we will talk about that creates the Charlotte Hornets only making the playoffs 3 times in 20 seasons, going through 8 coaches, drafting only 3 All Stars, and of course, owning the worst record in NBA History at one point. This is The Eternal Rebuild of the Charlotte Hornets, a 20 year NBA Timeline! But hey, atleast they have Lamelo Ball and Brandon Miller to look forward too.

The Charlotte Hornets, once a respected upstart Franchise starting in the 1989 NBA Season was at one point a team who had alot going for it in only existing for 14 seasons. From the duo of Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning that ended prematurely, trading for Glen Rice and Anthony Mason who had their time in the sun. And playing soon to be cult hero Mugsy Bouges and one of the best shooters of the 90s, Dell Curry. But as the Hornets became riddled with controversy, which we’ll get into later, the Hornets moved to New Orleans, and rebranded as the New Orleans Hornets. However, after a 2 year hiatus of no Charlotte Basketball, the Hornets came back as the final expansion team becoming the Bobcats in the 04-05 season. And as Charlotte sports fans reveled in reliving the good ole days, what they didn’t know is, the Bobcats and soon to be Hornets, would become the most disappointing Franchise in the NBA spanning 20 whole years. Whether that is making horrible draft selections that aged like milk, owners making moves that hinder the team, and or signings that push the team back rather than forward. These are the many types of blunders we will talk about that creates the Charlotte Hornets only making the playoffs 3 times in 20 seasons, going through 8 coaches, drafting only 3 All Stars, and of course, owning the worst record in NBA History at one point. This is The Eternal Rebuild of the Charlotte Hornets, a 20 year NBA Timeline! But hey, atleast they have Lamelo Ball and Brandon Miller to look forward too.

Charlotte Hornets draft history
The original Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA) were established in 1988 as an expansion team, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team's roster was filled with unprotected players at the 1988 NBA Expansion Draft, and five days later the Hornets made their first picks out of college players at the 1988 NBA Draft. The Hornets remained in Charlotte for 14 seasons before relocating to New Orleans in 2002.
The first pick in the Hornets' history was Rex Chapman, a shooting guard from the University of Kentucky. The Hornets had three top-four picks and all of them have participated in the NBA All-Star Game: Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, and Baron Davis. In 1996, the Hornets drafted Kobe Bryant thirteenth overall, but traded him for Vlade Divac. Bryant is now an MVP, a four-time All-star game MVP, a two-time Finals MVP, a sixteen-time all-star, and a five-time NBA Champion.
Two years after the Hornets' departure, the Charlotte Bobcats were established in 2004 as the NBA's 30th team. The Bobcats first participated in the 2004 NBA Draft, two days after their expansion draft was held. The franchise's name was changed back to the Hornets at the conclusion of the 2013–14 season - one year after the team in Louisiana renamed itself the New Orleans Pelicans. The franchise's history and records while in Charlotte would also be returned to its original city.
