Phoronids (scientific name Phoronida, sometimes called horseshoe worms) are a phylum of marine animals that filter-feed with a lophophore (a "crown" of tentacles), and build upright tubes of chitin to support and protect their soft bodies. They live in most of the oceans and seas including the Arctic Ocean but excluding the Antarctic Ocean, and between the intertidal zone and about 400 meters down. Most adult phoronids are 2 cm long and about 1.5 mm wide, although the largest are 50 cm long.
The bottom end of the body is an ampulla (a flask-like swelling), which anchors the animal in the tube and enables it to retract its body very quickly when threatened. When the lophophore is extended at the top of the body, cilia (little hairs) on the sides of the tentacles draw food particles to the mouth, which is inside and slightly to one side of the base of the lophophore. Unwanted material can be excluded by closing a lid above the mouth or be rejected by the tentacles, whose cilia can switch into reverse. The food then moves down to the stomach, which is in the ampulla. Solid wastes are moved up the intestine and out through the anus, which is outside and slightly below the lophophore.

Two zooids of fresh-water Bryozoan (also known as the "moss animals"), Plumatella punctata, were observed using the digtial camera. Two zooids were found attached to a small root from a pond sample. Observations were made first with the dissecting scope and then the colony was removed and placed in a hanging drop slide to allow movement of the lophophore. The individual zooids secrete a minerialized shell or tube called the zooecium, which each zooid can retract if disturbed. Each zooid has a crown shaped lophophore of ciliated tentacles used to trap prey by creating a vortex to trap food particles. The video explains the development of certain species of calyptraeid gastropods and shows the planktonic stage, the veliger, of these marine snails. Veligers use cilia to swim and also to catch algae and other small particles. Veligers remain in the plankton for days or weeks before metamorphosing into juveniles and settling on rocks or shells in intertidal zone. Video by: Matt Starr Collin Lab 2012
These worms came with my tube anemone, they were under it living on it's skin cast (not sure what to call that). They seemed able to control each feather strand. Tools used: Olympus Tg-2 (Macro shot). Settings: From an indoor 1 feet cube tank, right at the glass wall. Under Exo Terra UVB 1.0 bulb.
The tentacles of the lophophore of the bryozoan, Plumatella punctata, are examined in this video. This zooid was slightly damaged during slide preparation but was a great way of looking at the tentacles reaction. It was interesting to observe the detached tentacles behave as if they had a life of their own. The final sequence of the video is taken of a normal zooid with the lophophore behaving as it should as it actively feeds. Sorry for the shaky camera; was holding camera up to a dissecting scope.

Hot as the dessert, she stings like a rose.
Waiting for someone to get her that text,
Protection, the friction, so good in a text.
Dance with the devil and she's in control,
Give her the chance and she'll burn thorough your soul.
Faster and faster we head by disaster
There's no slowing down till we fail!
Chorus:
Now I'm busy like a freight train,
Tired of being insane!
Money I don't care,
Come on you, I want more, and more, and more!
She got me wrapped around... like a ...

Every last touch... chosen for more,
Too late for leaving when locking the door.
