|The Super Fight League, or SFL, is an Indian mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.^[1] The organization was formed in late 2011 by Sanjay Dutt and Raj Kundra.^[2] The SFL is the first MMA promotion based in India. SFL events can be watched on Colors in India^[3] and on YouTube live worldwide due to a 3 year contract between the promotion and the website.^[4]

The SFL was founded by celebrity entrepreneur IPL cricket team owner Raj Kundra and Bollywood megastar Sanjay Dutt in January 2012. It's intent is giving Indian mixed martial artists a platform to compete and grow in its home country whilst bringing in talented fighters from different parts of the world. They launched their first event on March 11, 2012, which was headlined by Bob 'The Beast' Sapp and James 'The Colossus' Thompson.^[5][6] Two future events are scheduled for Chandigarh, India, on April 7, 2012, and New Delhi, India, on May 6, 2012.^{[citation needed]}

On January 1, 2012, Ken Pavia was named as CEO of the Super Fight League. He was asked by Kundra personally to become CEO of the SFL, with Pavia saying in an interview "Raj Kundra believes he needed experienced in each department of his organization and has put together the most impressive team that I have seen in 10 years in this sport".^[7]

On February 27, the SFL announced that they had signed Todd Duffee, Trevor Prangley, Baga Agaev^[8], Paul Kelly, Xavier Foupa-Pokam and Lena Ovchynnikova to four fight exclusive contracts.^[9]

On July 5th, the SFL air their reality show, The Super Fighter. Similar to the the Ultimate Fighter, the show will take young up-and-coming Indian mixed martial artists, place them in the same house as each other. The show will go for 50 days and each week people will vote for who they want to see fight on a Friday night. The fighters will also be given tasks each week, as well as being trained by some of the best international trainers available. It is most likely to air on Colors.^[10]

Rules[link]

SFL's current rules^[11] are based upon the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts that were originally established by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board and modified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.^[12]

Cage[link]

SFL uses a structure called the 'O'Zone. The 'O'Zone is a circular cage of chain-link fence that has been coated in black vinyl. The height of the fence varies between 5 feet 6 inches (1.68 m) and 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 m), is 30 feet (9.1 m) in diameter and sits atop a 4 feet (1.2 m) platform. There are two gates on opposite sides of the cage to allow for people to enter and leave the cage.^[13]

Combat, or fighting, is a purposeful violent conflict meant to establish dominance over the opposition, or to kill the opposition, or drive the opposition away from a location where it is not wanted or needed.

The term combat (French for fight) typically refers to armed conflict between military forces in warfare, whereas the more general term "fighting" can refer to any violent conflict between individuals or nations. Combat violence can be unilateral, whereas fighting implies at least a defensive reaction. However, the terms are often used synonymously along with the term "Battle Ready". A large-scale fight is known as a battle.

Combat may take place under a specific set of rules or be unregulated. Examples of rules include the Geneva Conventions (covering the treatment of soldiers in war), medieval Chivalry, the Marquess of Queensberry rules (covering boxing) and several forms of combat sports.

Combat in warfare involves two or more opposing military organizations, usually fighting for nations at war (although guerrilla warfare and suppression of insurgencies can fall outside this definition). Warfare falls under the laws of war, which govern its purposes and conduct, and protect the rights of soldiers and non-combatants.

Combat may be armed (using weapons), or unarmed (not using weapons). Hand-to-hand combat (melee) is combat at very close range, attacking the opponent with the body (striking, kicking, strangling, etc.) and/or with a melee weapon (knives, swords, batons, etc.), as opposed to a ranged weapon.

Hand-to-hand combat can be further divided into three sections depending on the distance and positioning of the combatants:

• Clinch fighting
• Ground fighting
• Stand-up fighting

Verbal combat[link]

Specific speech act structures related to verbal and also physical exchanges are extant in ancient times as well as today.^[1] Fixed speech act patterns employed in a verbal exchange are a phenomenon found in historical and modern texts alike. Although conventions change over time and from one culture to the other, ritualised exchanges seem to be part of the basic inventory of language usage, and so it is quite common to find similarities between the way individuals from various cultures engage in a verbal duel. Verbal combat may result in physical combat after a certain extent.

Jimmy "The Titan" Ambriz (born March 20, 1977) is an American mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Super Heavyweight division. He is a former King of the Cage Super Heavyweight Champion. His nickname "The Titan" is for his enormous size and raw power. Ambriz sports victories over Dan Bobish, and Ruben Villareal.

Ambriz was expected to face former WWE and TNA wrestling star Bobby Lashley on January 30, 2010 at Strikeforce: Miami,^[1] but for reasons unknown, Ambriz was dropped as an opponent for Lashley.^[2]

Ambriz stepped in for injured Jesse Wallace to fight Mike Guidry at Tachi Palace Fights 7 on December 2 in the heavyweight division.^[3]

It is announced the next opponent of Ambriz. The Titan is expected to face the Bulgarian giant Lyubomir Simeonov at the MAXFIGHT-21 event, in May 27, 2011.^[4] After numerous punches Ambriz was forced to tap in the first round.

Ambriz' last fight was at the first Super Fight League event, SFL 1, and he fought against debuting Indian fighter Satish Jamia.^[5] He won the fight via TKO (punches) in the 1st round of the fight.
