Consensus

By: Brady Campaign to Reduce Gun Violence and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner

The overheated rhetoric in Washington belies a broad consensus among voters and gun owners that it is possible to reduce gun violence in this country while protecting the Second Amendment. Voters and gun owners come together to support basic, common sense steps, such as strengthening background checks, expanding and promoting safety courses and training to improve responsible gun ownership, or increasing penalties for those who illegally traffic in guns, that can make a difference. Few voters we talked to believe additional gun laws will stop all gun violence in the country, but voters support taking steps that can address some of the violence. At the same time, few voters we talked to, including gun owners, believe any effort to strengthen gun laws is inherently a violation of the Second Amendment.

yogapantsLululemon Athletica is a major producer of yoga activewear, with annual revenue of over a $1 billion and over 200 stores across North America and Oceania. [1] On March 17, 2013, they announced a recall of their yoga pants made with luon fabric because there were reports that the fabric was revealingly transparent. This major quality complaint for a vanguard product posed a significant threat to how the company and its products were viewed by consumers.

For most companies in retail, conversations about their products are happening all the time. Previous water cooler conversations now occur online. Information is no longer limited to just traditional news or social media, but flows through both simultaneously. This makes responding to crises more complicated and the need for real-time research more important.   Online discussions are often public and can provide companies with real-time information about how consumers view their products. When misfortune strikes, it is beneficial to have a social media monitoring system already in place to be able to respond immediately.

In January, Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research conducted a bipartisan survey for the American Lung Association that showed overwhelming support for such standards.

EdnaThis week Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny met with President Barack Obama at the White House for the annual St. Patrick's Day event. Obama praised Kenny's "great leadership during the difficult times" and noted the "progress in the Irish economy," while the Taoiseach admitted there is "still a long way to go on the journey to national recovery... but confidence is returning."

Kenny certainly knows something about this road to recovery: In 2011, he took over an economy with nearly 15% unemployment, and public debt estimated at over 105% of GDP. Yet today, Kenny's governing party, Fine Gael, remains the most popular party in Ireland and the island has seen no major protests on the scale experienced elsewhere in Europe against massive cuts and new taxes.
