Colin Murphy (born 1944) is a former football player and manager who has taken charge of numerous clubs during a long management career, including Derby County, Lincoln City, Stockport County, Al Ittihad, Southend United, Shelbourne, Notts County, Cork City, the Vietnam national side and Burmese national side.
Murphy had a brief career in semi-professional football for several non-league clubs in the early 1970s. These included Gravesend & Northfleet, Folkestone Town and Hastings United. However he failed to break through into professional football. Turning to coaching, Murphy began coaching at Nottingham Forest and Notts. County. He was then quickly catapulted into the spotlight when Derby County surprisingly appointed him as their manager in November 1976, having been reserve team coach under Championship winning Dave MacKay. However, he lasted only ten months in the role before being sacked in September 1977 having led the Rams to just seven wins in 35 games. He was replaced by Tommy Docherty.

Undrafted, Murphy played collegiate hockey with Michigan Tech of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Scoring at a point per game pace with 152 points in 145 games, Murphy was signed as a free agent by the Toronto Maple Leafs on September 14, 2005.
Murphy made his professional debut upon completion of his college career, playing the Leafs affiliate the St. John's Maple Leafs at the end of the 2004–05 season. Colin started his first full pro season in 2005–06 and became the first player to score for new leafs affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.

Murphy played four years of college soccer at Boston College between 2009 and 2012. He was a team captain his junior and senior years. A graduate of the Northfield Mount Hermon School, he was team captain and all New England there his senior year.
