The Bounty (1984) - William Bligh Highlights
Lieutenant William Bligh (Anthony Hopkins) goes insane trying to keep his crew in control.
Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson are obviously easy to notice. But see if you can spot a young Daniel Day-Lewis, Liam Neeson, and Dexter Fletcher (who by the way is 1 of the 4 main characters from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels).

HMS BOUNTY MODEL SHIP
HMS Bounty, was a small merchant vessel purchased by the Royal Navy for a botanical mission. The ship was sent to the Pacific Ocean to acquire breadfruit plants and transport them to British possessions in the West Indies. That mission was never completed, as disagreements between Lieutenant William Bligh and his acting Sailing Master, Fletcher Christian, led to a revolt by half of the crew and their seizure of the vessel on 28 April 1789, leading to the Mutiny on the Bounty

S/V William Bligh is a 1971 Paceship East Wind owned by her skipper Robin Scott Johnson of New Hampshire. In May of 2009 she was sailed from her drydock bondate in Portland, Maine to the wonderful coast of tax free New Hampshire, where she's been much happier.

Talisker® Bounty Boat Expedition to recreate Capt William Bligh's Mutiny on the Bounty voyage
Australian adventurer Don McIntyre to lead 3-man crew in 25ft open boat on 4,000 mile Pacific crossing from Tonga to Timor, starting in April 2009
Tuesday 17th November 2009, Isle of Skye, Scotland: Talisker, the famous single malt whisky distilled on the Isle of Skye has announced its sponsorship of an epic sailing adventure which will be the first to recreate the exact journey of Captain William Bligh's epic 4,000-mile open boat Mutiny on the Bounty voyage. Led by Australian adventurer Don McIntyre and a crew of three, the reenactment will follow the journey across the Pacific from Tonga to Timor and aims to raise vital funds and awareness for the worlds first international research institute into Motor Neurone Disease, currently being built by the Sheffield Institute Foundation.
McIntyre returned to his roots and the roots of Talisker on the Isle of Skye to trace his Scottish ancestry, and hold a Clan reunion at the famous Talisker Distillery. His grandparents Thomas and Mary McIntyre emigrated to Australia shortly after their marriage in 1901 and this was Dons first visit to the island and Scotland. The 54 year-old adventurer, who successfully sailed single-handed around the world in 1992 and has led a series of expeditions down to Antarctica, brought with him the 25ft replica of the Bounty Boat to give his fellow McIntyres an insight into the extraordinary fight for survival that Captain Bligh and his crew faced following the infamous mutiny on HMS Bounty led by Fletcher Christian.
McIntyre and his three-man crew will face the same deprivations as the original Bounty Boat crew, with little food, no charts or toilet paper and only the limited navigation implements that were available to Bligh. They will start the adventure on the same day, at the same time and in the same place 221 years after the original mutiny journey.

B0U /\/ T Y, THE 13
B0U /\/ T Y, THE is the third screen version of one of the best-known stories in naval history, here with Anthony Hopkins as Lieutenant William Bligh and Mel Gibson as Fletcher Christian heading an extraordinary cast including Laurence Olivier, Edward Fox, Daniel Day-Lewis, Liam Neeson, Bernard Hill and Dexter Fletcher. HMS Bounty's voyage to Tahiti of 1787-9 and its infamous consequences are recounted with far greater historical accuracy than in the 1935 or 1962 Mutiny on the Bounty. The movie is gorgeously shot on location in Tahiti, England and New Zealand as well as on a full-size recreation of the original Bounty.
Roger Donaldson's film benefits from a literate screenplay by Robert Bolt, who here as in Lawrence of Arabia (1962), brings real insight into the English institutional mind in conflict. Hopkins is at his complex best and Gibson offers more depth than his usual two-dimensional hero persona; here Bligh and Christian emerge as complex men gripped by circumstances beyond their control. The haunting score by Vangelis contributes immensely to a very underrated film which deserves to be considered a modern classic
