The Rolling Stones-Claudine
an unreleased song about Claudine Longet. At the age of 19 Claudine met Andy Williams while in the follies and married him, although she was 14 years younger. She had three children with Williams, and in the mid sixties pursued an acting and singing career. She met Olympic skier Vladimir "Spider" Sabich while at a celebrity ski tournament in Bear Valley in 1972. By 1975 she and her children had moved into Sabich's stone and log chalet in the Starwood section of Aspen, Colorado. Things went well between the two for nearly a year until the relationship started to deteriorate and Sabich asked that she leave the premises by April 1, 1976. On March 21, 1976 Sabich was shot dead on his bathroom floor with a .22 caliber pistol. Longet was responsible for what her lawyers described as an "accident". She said that Sabich had been showing her how to use the gun when it went off. Ballistics experts at the trial testified that the safety catch was defective on the gun. He was killed by a single bullet (the only inaccuracy in the song is the reference to three shots) to the abdomen and bled to death on the way to the hospital. He was 31 years old. On January 14, 1977 she was convicted of negligent homicide and spent 30 days in the Pitkin County Jail. Claudine was granted family rights during the week which meant that she only served time on the weekends. She went on to marry her defense attorney and continues to live in Aspen.

♫♥WHO BROKE YOUR HEART - CLAUDINE LONGET♫♥
Claudine Longet - Who Broke Your Heart Lyrics
Who broke your heart
And made you write that song
Everytime you sing I want to cry along
Everything was right until your love went wrong
Who made you write that song
I remember the happy things and
The song that used to sing
Sunny blue sky and wedding ring
But this morning they're gone
Now the skies have began to pour
There's a wind and your youth fall
And you're really alone once more
I can tell by your song
Then you asked me if I can sing
That this song's only made for me
If you think that you're fooling me
Let me tell you you're wrong
Anyone who has loved for long
After hearing a verse of your song
You can smile but your tears still show
In the words to your song
Everything was right
Until your love went wrong
Who made you write that song
Claudine Longet - Biography
Originally from France, Claudine Longet was a Las Vegas showgirl when superstar crooner Andy Williams discovered her. They were married in 1961, when Longet was still 19 and Williams was 33. He helped boost her career as an actress and singer; in her few TV and film appearances she was typecast as the innocently foxy mademoiselle, but she had more success in pop music. Given a contract by A&M; Records, she recorded mostly soft covers of songs by popular rock groups, including the albums Claudine (1967) and Love is Blue (1968). She and Williams split in 1970, and a few years later she began dating champion skier Vladimir "Spider" Sabich. She shot and killed Sabich at their home in Aspen, Colorado in 1976, leading to a highly-publicized murder trial. Longet pled not guilty, saying the shooting was an accident. She was convicted of criminal negligence and sentenced to 30 days in jail. After her release she retired from the entertainment business and married her trial defense attorney, Ron Austin.
Extra credit: Longet and Williams separated in 1970 but weren't formally divorced until 1975. They have three children: Noelle (b. 1963), Christian (b. 1965) and Robert (b. 1969). Robert was named for Robert F. Kennedy, a close friend of Williams and Longet who was killed in 1968... The night after she shot Sabich, Longet stayed with neighbor John Denver and his wife.
Longet appears with Sonny Bono in our loop Ski Slope Mishaps... Other celebrity shooting cases include those of John Lennon, Robert Blake, Andy Warhol and (possibly) Thomas Ince.
