Betty White - Life With Elizabeth - The Chemistry Set
In this episode from 1954 Alvin is trying to make hand lotion with a children's chemistry set...
This is of course bound to go wrong...
________________
From Wikipedia:
Life With Elizabeth was a sitcom which aired from 1953 to 1955.
The show starred Betty White and Del Moore and announcer Jack Narz.
The most unusual feature of Life with Elizabeth is that it was divided into three 8 to 10 minute comic shorts — referred to as "incidents". Sometimes an entire incident might just consist of the two main characters talking to each other. Also unusual was the minimal theme music, which was played by a solo harpist who was partially visible on the opening title screen.
Elizabeth and Alvin are a married couple who live an ordinary suburban life, but inevitably managed to get into predicaments. At the end of most predicaments, Alvin, in variable degrees of frustration, would say, "I shall leave you now, Elizabeth" and would walk out of sight. The announcer would say, "Elizabeth, aren't you ashamed?" She would slowly nod, but then, with a slightly devilish grin, would vigorously shake her head to indicate she wasn't.

WASHINGTON, February 5, 2013 — With regard to tonight's TV lineup, The Taste is a good show with a lot of potential, and NCIS has a proven pedigree that speaks for itself. But Betty White's 2nd Annual 90th Birthday Special is a show I wouldn't dare miss, even to watch either of these fabulous alternatives. I never tire of Betty White's irreverent and bawdy antics. Any chance to look back at the evolution of the most amazing career in TV is a mid-week blessing for all of us, and I do not intend to squander the opportunity.
In case it's not already obvious, anyone who has read this column with any consistency knows that I worship at the altar of Betty White. This is why, despite all the new episodes included in a stellar Tuesday night prime time line-up, what to watch tonight is a total no-brainer for me. I've written about Betty White many times and cannot sing her praises enough. So to keep from repeating myself, here is a link to an article I wrote back in May that best encapsulates her impressive career, as well as my boundless admiration of her.
Shameless self promotion? Well, maybe. But in the Internet biz, the more clicks the better, so feel free to send this link to all your Facebook friends.
Meanwhile, if you need additional reasons to watch Betty tonight, just consider the line-up of guests that will be on hand to sing her praises. Some of the greatest comedic minds of our time will contribute thoughts and personal anecdotes about the national entertainment treasure otherwise known as Betty White. Among these special guests are Bill Cosby, Whoopi Goldberg, Vicki Lawrence, Sarah Silverman and Lily Tomlin. Toss Bill Clinton, Larry King and Blake Shelton into the mix, and you have a sure-fire formula for a wonderful hour of television devoted to a wonderful television icon.

We don't know whether Bill Clinton is bringing his saxophone to the festivities tonight. What we do know is that in his comments to Betty, he suggests she is the best candidate for president in 2016. Bill knows that despite her age, Betty White is one of the busiest and most productive people on this planet. If you try to recall the last time we heard "busy" and "productive" used in a sentence to describe any politician, the thought of electing Betty White president doesn't seem any more ludicrous than re-electing the do-nothing bunch of free-loaders currently occupying taxpayer-supported office space in Washington, D.C.
I'm not sure how Hillary feels about this, but I know how much we all love Betty. So bring on the ballot box! (But leave your hanging chads at home.)
(PS: While U Wait, here's a link to a preview clip of Bill Clinton on tonight's Betty White Special. Commercial first, of course.)
