MPs are to pay tribute to Baroness Thatcher in a special session of Parliament following her death at the age of 87. David Cameron announced that the Commons was being recalled on Wednesday, as he hailed the lasting legacy of a "great Briton" who defied barriers. In a statement outside Downing Street, Mr Cameron said: "Margaret Thatcher didn't just lead our country - she saved our country... "Margaret Thatcher took a country that was on its knees and made Britain stand tall again." He added: "We can't deny that Lady Thatcher divided opinion. "For many of us, she was and is an inspiration. "For others she was a force to be defined against. "But if there is one thing that cuts through all of this - one thing that runs through everything she did - it was her lion-hearted love for this country."

When foreign policy is well-reasoned, we see attention given to humanitarian issues like housing, jobs, health care and education. When that policy consists of applying a military solution to a political problem, however, we see death, destruction, and suffering. Director Robert Greenwald witnessed the latter during his recent trip to Afghanistan--the devastating consequences of U.S. airstrikes on thousands of innocent civilians.

The footage you are about to see is poignant, heart-wrenching, and often a direct result of U.S. foreign policy.

We must help the refugees whose lives have been shattered by U.S. foreign policy and military attacks. Support the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, an organization dedicated to helping women and children, human rights issues, and social justice. Then, become a Peacemaker. Receive up-to-the-minute information through our new mobile alert system whenever there are Afghan civilian casualties from this war, and take immediate action by calling Congress.

In a statement outside 10 Downing St, Prime Minister David Cameron pays tribute to the late Margaret Thatcher and her 'lion-hearted love for the country'.

Despite all of the bad news; there are Good moments during war tours. Here the US Army delivers many goodies to the people of Afghanistan (Jegledek Village). The goodies were donated by big hearts in the US. This was Christmas Eve 2004. The Faces of the Children of Afghanistan. Kids are kids are kids everywhere. Beautiful kids. They had the roughest hands that I had ever felt-----even among hardworking adults. Artistically, the "stills" are my favorite (especially in serial) b/c they freeze and preserve a Moment that will never ever happen again. Lesson learned; shooting at a child's eye-view for 4 hours is real physical work! But well worth it. Most difficult of all was deciding when to shoot video and when to go for stills. At the 2:33 mark, the 2 Army women have just been told by the interpreter that the group of men are in a bidding war trying to propose marriage to each of them. They had gotten as high as 5 goats before the interpreter broke the news! You can see the shock on their faces. I would have loved to have known what the goats thought! The biggest surprise of the day was when the bearded man at the end asked me to take a picture of him and his daughter. He was so proud of her. A Proud Papa. I know the feeling-----I quickly obliged. He was so taken by the image. What a day! Mannnnnnnn, we gave those kids waaaaaaaaaay too many sweets! Enjoy. Digg this video: http://digg.com/world_news/Video_of_Casualties_Will_Piss_You_Off_and_Break_Your_Heart_2 When foreign policy is well-reasoned, we see attention given to humanitarian issues like housing, jobs, health care and education. Then, become a Peacemaker. http://www.euronews.com/ Determined to end a problem that has engulfed the Catholic Church for over a decade, Pope Francis has said he wants sexual abuse to be dealt with "decisively". Pope Francis has sent out a clear message that he wants clerical abusers to face appropriate justice and past and present victims to be helped. The Pontiff has met with the man in charge of the Church department that investigates sex crimes, Archbishop Gerhard Mueller who heads the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. A victims' group - Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests - or SNAP said the Pope's words did not go far enough. The group criticised the Pontiff and called his stance a continuation of that of his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI. The Church has been repeatedly accused of previously covering up for priests found guilty of abusing children.
