The Mikado part 1
The irrepressible Eric Idle (Monty Pythons Flying Circus) teams up with the English National Opera in this hilarious performance of Gilbert and Sullivans beloved comic opera, THE MIKADO. This rollicking version of Gilbert and Sullivans most popular tale relocates the action from ancient Japan to a 1920s English seaside resort. Here the rule of the Mikado is absolute--and often prone to whimsy. Ko-Ko (Eric Idle) is sentenced to death for the crime of flirting, but in a strange turn of events is instead named "Lord High Executioner." A delightful farce ensues as Ko-Ko cant behead anyone without first cutting off his own head. But by the second act, the Mikado demands an execution and Ko-Ko must delicately sing and dance his way around a messy situation involving the Mikados son and his secret love Yum Yum.

Hello again, lieber schon einmal im Vorfeld. Ein großes Sorry für die Lichtverhältnisse des Videos. Musste diesmal auf eine andere Location umsteigen und daraus resultierte dies leider. Jorge Bolet plays Bach-Busoni Chaconne (II)
Live in Carnegie Hall, 1974 - Part I : www.youtube.com - Part II ~~~ Jorge Bolet (1914 - 1990) Bolet was born in Havana, Cuba and studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he himself taught from 1939 to 1942. His teachers included Leopold Godowsky, Josef Hofmann, David Saperton, Moriz Rosenthal and Fritz Reiner. In 1937, he won the Naumburg Competition, and gave his debut recital. In 1942 Bolet joined the US Army and was sent to Japan. While there, he conducted the Japanese premiere of The Mikado. He made his first recordings for Remington. He provided the piano soundtrack for the 1960 film about Liszt, "Song without End". His playing, though, was condemned by American critics for decades, as too focused on romantic virtuosity, so he only made a few recordings for smaller labels in the 1960s. This Bach - Busoni recording of him was made in his recital in Carnegie Hall in 1974 that brought him to prominence, which set a seal on his reputation. He later became Head of Piano at the Curtis Institute, succeeding Rudolf Serkin, but retired from this to concentrate once again on his career. A measure of Bolet's stature can be given by the fact that the dean of American music critics, Harold Schonberg, considered him "a kind of latter-day Josef Lhévinne". In 1984, the A&E; Network broadcast a series of three programs entitled Bolet Meets Rachmaninoff, in which the pianist was shown giving master-classes on Rachmaninov Concerto No. 3. This is followed on the ...
