The Poets - Now We're Thru (1965) from Glasgow, Scotland
One of the most creative and initially successful of the Scottish beat crews during the 1960s, The Poets began life at the dawn of the beat group boom, around the end of 1962. George Gallacher (vocals) joined forces with Hume Paton (lead & 12-string guitar), Tony Myles (rhythm guitar), John Dawson (bass) and Alan Weir (drums). They took Glasgow by storm with their personalized take on rhythm and blues and soul sounds, and their striking image: high-heeled boots, velvet collars and ruffle-front shirts. By the beginning of 1964 The Poets were the biggest live attraction all over the country, with many busloads of teenage fans regularly traveling to their gigs. George, Hume and Tony were also writing highly original material too. Andrew Loog Oldham noted this fact with great interest when he auditioned the group after spotting a photo of them staring out from the cover of Scottish publication 'Beat News', while he was up in Glasgow; on an eloping mission to Gretna with his (in England) still-under-age bride to be. Knocked out by what he heard at the audition, and by the riotous scenes he witnessed at a gig The Poets played that night, the Loog had them whisked off down to London in quick time to record their debut single 'Now We're Thru' / 'There Are Some' for Decca (F11995).

Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust
Clip about Carnival Of Rust.
Lyrics:
D' you breath the name of your saviour in your hour of need,
n' taste the blame if the flavor should remind you of greed,
Of implication, insinuation and ill will, till' you cannot lie still,
In all this turmoil, before red cape and foil come closing in for a kill
Come feed the rain
Cos I'm thirsty for your love dancing underneath the skies of lust
Yeah feed the rain
Cos without your love my life ain't nothing but this carnival of rust
It's all a game, avoiding failure, when true colors will bleed
All in the name of misbehavior and the things we don't need
I lust for after no disaster can touch us anymore
And more than ever, I hope to never fall, where enough is not the same it was before
Come feed the rain...
Don't walk away, don't walk away, oh, when the world is burning
Don't walk away, don't walk away, oh, when the heart is yearning

Lyrics:
There's an old tale wrought with mystery, of Tom the Poet and his muse
And a magic lake which gave a life to the words the poet used
Now, the muse she was his happiness, and he rhymed about her grace
And told her stories of treasures deep beneath the blackened waves
Till' in the stillness of one dawn, still in its misty crown
The muse she went down to the lake, and in the waves she drowned
And now to see your love set free
You will need the witch's cabin key
Find the lady of the light, gone mad with the night
That's how you reshape destiny
The poet came down to the lake to call out to his dear
When there was no answer he was overcome with fear
He searched in vain for his treasure lost and too soon the night would fall
Only his own echo would wail back at his call
And when he swore to bring back his love by stories he'd create
Nightmares shifted in their sleep in the darkness of the lake
And now to see your love set free
You will need the witch's cabin key
Find the lady of the light, still raving in the night
That's how you reshape destiny
In the dead of night she came to him with darkness in her eyes
Wearing a mourning gown, sweet words as her disguise
He took her in without a word for he saw his grave mistake
And vowed them both to silence deep beneath the lake
Now, if it's real or just a dream one mystery remains
For it is said, on moonless nights they may still haunt this place

Dead Poets Society - Oh Captain, My Captain (HD & Sub)
One of the best scene that i have seen in a dramatic movie!!!! Robin Williams is fantastic in this film and the purpose and meaning behind it is a foundation, a mind set that I believe in with all my heart. Its a reminder to do an ordinary thing extraordinarily well, also to constantly look at things in a different way.
"Seize the day boys... make your lives extroardinary"
It just touches the most beautiful aspects of life, its more than a movie, it shows us a way of living, and every time I see this movie it fullfills me with dreams and hope and I try to push myself to go and enjoy do something while I can. This is a movie we all should remind every day we wake up.

1st Day of Class: Dead Poet's Society
Quotes to Discuss on the First Day of Class:
"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may" - Mr. Keating
"Carpe...Carpe diem...Seize the day...Make your lives extraordinary." -- Mr. Keating
"Rip it out... It is not the Bible. You're not going to go to hell for this." -- Mr. Keating
"In my class you will learn to think for yourselves again. You will learn to savor words and language. No matter what anybody tells you words and ideas can change the world." -- Mr. Keating
"Why do I stand up here... I stand upon my desk to remind myself that we must constantly look at things in a different way...Just when you think you know something you have to look at it in another way even though it may seem silly or wrong you must try. Now when you read don't just consider what the author thinks, consider what you think. You must strive to find your own voice because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all. Thoreau said most men lead lives of quiet desperation. Don't be rescind to that. Breakout." -- Mr. Keating
"I don't mind that your poem had a simple theme. Sometimes some of the most beautiful poetry can be about simple things like a cat, or a flower or rain. You see poetry can come from anything with the stuff of revelation in it. Just don't let your poems be ordinary." -- Mr. Keating
----
Note 1: This collection of clips begins with the first day of class and then on to subsequent student-teacher interactions throughout a semester.
Note 2: These clips are edited together in such a way to highlight questions about pedagogy, but not spoil the film, if you have not seen it. I'd strongly encourage you to watch the full film. There is much more in the film.
