Saugus High School "Every 15 Minutes" 2001
In my city, there is a program sponsored by the Sheriff's Department called "Every 15 Minutes" and it is a drunk driving awareness program. The title comes from the then statistic that someone in the country dies as a result of drunk driving every 15 minutes.

Act 5:15

Acts 5:15 (King James Version)
15Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
What is striking about this verse is that something so banal, so disconnected, so passive can have an active and miraculous presence. In the work, I make the attempt to translate this event into a present day vernacular, using Peter Pan (also known to have an active shadow life) in the place of St. Peter. In this act, no miraculous healings were evident, but there was an enthusiasm and a recognized break from the routine. The presence of Peter and his shadow is admired, is interacted with, is photographed, and received with great pleasure.
For approximately 5 hours and 15 minutes Peter's shadow fell upon the people of Chattanooga. What happened wasn't miraculous, but magical, and that counts for something.

2001:Analysis of the Last 10 Minutes.
This is an explanatory video looking at the final scenes of Kubricks classic 2001: A Space Odyssey.
This gives my own reading of what's going on and is intended for those folks who are perplexed by the distinctly enigmatic nature of this film.
2001 is probably my favourite film of all time so I hope you enjoy this departure from my usual content.
Transcript available at my blog..

All images, video and sound are used under fair use to illustrate and comment upon the material.
I'm truly sorry that comments are disabled but frankly there are too many very rude and frankly insane people who take a critique on 2001 as seriously as a personal attack on them and their families. I cannot be arsed to deal with that and since I can't disable notifications from this individual video I have made the sad and long thought over decision to simply close comments. This video will now simply stand as what it is and the discussion is done with in this particular forum.
A massive thank you to all who provided useful comments and interesting discussion in the past, I think almost everything had been said by this point thankfully. Likes/dislikes are still active on the video

What you see is real, but you can't see it this way with the naked eye. It is the result of thousands of 20-30 second exposures, edited together to produce the timelapse. This allows you to see the Milky Way, Aurora and other Phenonmena, in a way you wouldn't normally see them.
In the opening "Dakotalapse" title shot, you see bands of red and green moving across the sky. After asking several Astronomers, they are possible noctilucent clouds, airglow or faint Aurora. I never got a definite answer to what it is. You can also see the red and green bands in other shots.
At :53 and 2:17 seconds into the video you see a Meteor with a Persistent Train. Which is ionizing gases, which lasted over a half hour in the cameras frame. Phil Plait wrote an article about the phenomena here http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2011/10/02/a-meteors-lingering-tale/
There is a second Meteor with a much shorter persistent train at 2:51 in the video. This one wasn't backlit by the moon like the first, and moves out of the frame quickly.
The Aurora were shot in central South Dakota in September 2011 and near Madison, Wisconsin on October 25, 2011.
Watch for two Deer at 1:27
Most of the video was shot near the White River in central South Dakota during September and October 2011, there are other shots from Arches National Park in Utah, and Canyon of the Ancients area of Colorado during June 2011.

Lightning strikes three of the tallest buildings in Chicago at the same time!
On June 23rd, 2010 a line of nasty storms rolled through Chicago in the early evening hours. I stayed late at the office that night to work on some things and to avoid the rush hour chaos that was going on. Once I returned home I wasn't really paying attention to what was happening outside until someone asked me if I was watching the lightning. I took a quick look out my window and saw some quick hits of lightning and ran back to my room to grab my camera and tripod. I was standing out there randomly hitting the record button and hoping I would catch some of the strikes. About 15 minutes in nothing was happening during my current recording so I reached to stop it and start a new one. At the moment I touched the camera three of the tallest buildings in Chicago were struck by lightning at the same time. Willis Tower (Tallest), Trump International Hotel and Tower (2nd Tallest) and the John Hancock Building(4th tallest). If you listen closely, you can hear me lightly say "yes!" after the triple strike happens.
**** 6/27 - Posted the sequel with more strikes from this storm! http://vimeo.com/12905965 ***
HD Video was shot on a Canon EOS 7D. Video was edited with Sony Vegas Movie Studio.

"Kinetic Rain" Changi Airport Singapore
In the course of refurbishment works ART+COM was commissioned to create a signature art installation for the Departure-Check-in hall of Terminal 1 at Singapore Airport. “Kinetic Rain” is composed of two parts, each consisting of 608 rain droplets made of lightweight aluminum covered with copper. Suspended from thin steel ropes above the two opposing escalators, each droplet is moved precisely and seemingly floating by a computer-controlled motor hidden in the halls ceiling. The drops follow a 15-minute, computationally designed choreography where the two parts move together in unison, sometimes mirroring, sometimes complementing, and sometimes responding to each other.
