Rodney P
Rodney P (born Rodney Panton in Battersea, London) is an EnglishMC who entered the UK hip hop scene in the 1980s. He started out as a member of the London Posse, one of the UK's first home grown hip hop acts who were highly influential in the development of the genre. Rodney P has had one of the longest and most respected careers in UK hip hop. Also known as da riddim killa, he cites the reggae he heard while growing up as a second-generation West Indian immigrant as an influence on his dub-heavy music.
History
In 1986, The London Posse were invited by Mick Jones of The Clash to support his new band Big Audio Dynamite on a UK tour. A recording contract with Big Life records followed, and Rodney P went on to support hip-hop heavyweights N.W.A and Soul II Soul in the early nineties.
The decision to guard his creative control led to the birth of his own label Riddim killa, a collaboration with Low Life Records, one of the leading labels of the rapidly growing scene. He was introduced to DJ Skitz by a mutual friend from the Deal Real workshop in the West End, and appears on Skitz’s albums Countryman and Homegrown volume 1. The pair went on to host a show on the BBC 1Xtra radio station, a leading black music network, which ran for five years until 2007. This development in his career led to involvement in radio documentaries, including a programme recorded in Johannesburg about the aftermath of Apartheid.

Rodney P. Rempt
Rodney Paul Rempt (born June 13, 1945) is a retired Vice Admiral of the United States Navy who served as the 58th Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy from 2003 to 2007.
Biography
Rempt was raised in the Los Angeles suburb of Van Nuys and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with the Class of 1966. His initial assignments at sea included deployments to Vietnam aboard Coontz (DLG-9) and Somers (DDG-34) followed by command of Antelope (PGM-86), one of four missile-armed patrol gunboats homeported in Naples, Italy.
Rempt commanded Callaghan (DDG-994) during two WESTPAC/Indian Ocean deployments, and Bunker Hill (CG-52) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. While on Bunker Hill, Rempt served for 18 months as the Anti-Air Warfare Commander (AAWC) for Seventh Fleet.
Duties ashore included three years in the Weapon Prototyping office of the Naval Sea Systems Command as the initial project officer for the MK 41 Vertical Launch system, and both the Program Coordinator for the Aegis Weapon System, and the Director, Anti-Air Warfare Requirements Division (OP-75) on the CNO’s staff. Rempt also worked in the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) where he initiated the development of Naval Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (TBMD).

The latter of these three things is what we're suggesting would best thing to do, and of course bus a one foot skank - standard.”

After Rodney broke down his life story so far, including his music journey, Spray put him through his ‘RTM Fire Round’, before getting into some ‘Current Affairs’ including Andrew Tate’s recent arrest and Loski getting found guilty. We had a break for some ‘RTM Banter’ then got into the main subject which was “Fatherhood”. The ‘RTM Dilemma’ and ‘Book Suggestion’ closed the show as usual with Rodney blessing us with three books he suggests we read. This conversation was so transparent and Realer Than Most so you know no stones were left unturned and one thing you’ll be sure to get from Spray is a bit of banter. “Holes In The Building” sees London Posse man and all-round Godfather of British hip hop Rodney P linking up with Bristol’s DJ Die, one of UK dance music's most influential figures whose exploits include co-founding Reprazent with Roni Size. Here, the pair combine their talents to forge an attention-grabbing slice of conscious ska- and hip hop-infused pop music. With early support from MistaJam, Rodigan, Ace and Charlie Sloth on 1Xtra, Annie Nightingale (BBC R1), Edward Adoo (BBC 3CR), BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq and Don Letts (to name a few), this punchy and magnetic track is spreading far and wide.
Connecting with their common ska and two-tone roots, Rodney P & DJ Die simultaneously turn back the clock while updating the script – although, as they concede, when it comes to the social message of the song and prospects of the kids it calls out to, the script sadly hasn't changed much since the heyday of The Specials, The Selecter, Bad Manners and all the others they used to listen to as young wannabe rude-boys.
“The inner city is still falling apart, the kids are still bored with not much to do other than party all night with the occasional riot to spice things up”, says DJ Die; “The only other alternatives are to either get a regular job and work nine-to-five for shit money, sell drugs or get creative. The latter of these three things is what we're suggesting would best thing to do, and of course bus a one foot skank - standard.”

This sit down was absolutely essential and inevitable for our show because along with giving out flowers in general, every now and again we like to bring in the people that deserve their flowers for their contribution to the UK rap scene. Season 5 Episode 6 (Fatherhood) saw us draw for the Legendary Rodney P from the UK’s first real road rap group “London Posse”, their debut album “Gangster Chronicle” having been voted as the most important rap album to come out of the UK. After Rodney broke down his life story so far, including his music journey, Spray put him through his ‘RTM Fire Round’, before getting into some ‘Current Affairs’ including Andrew Tate’s recent arrest and Loski getting found guilty. We had a break for some ‘RTM Banter’ then got into the main subject which was “Fatherhood”. The ‘RTM Dilemma’ and ‘Book Suggestion’ closed the show as usual with Rodney blessing us with three books he suggests we read. This conversation was so transparent and Realer Than Most so you know no stones were left unturned and one thing you’ll be sure to get from Spray is a bit of banter. Taken from their 4th album Rum & Coke, the single is helmed by UK hip-hop legend Rodney P, who works his lyrics into an original blend of dub, hip-hop and reggae with a feel-good, laid-back groove. Ganja? They've never touched the stuff!
With the legendary status that Barry, Jason and the boys have built up over the years, remixers were lining up to take this one for a spin, and we're not disappointed. New producer on the scene Toby Toast proves his worth with a beautifully down-tempo electronic re-working, while Hip-hop legend Skitz hardens things up with added vocals from Deadly Hunter. Atomic Hooligan, 2 Bit Thugs and Ben and Lex represent the breaks contingent, delivering some equally leg-wobbling bass lines and beats. As always, the Sunday Best Remix proves a firm DJ favourite with a fresh cosmic disco edge.
With a frenetic winter tour of Australia, Asia and Europe under their belts, the band embark on their Ganja Tour of the UK in March, culminating in a headline show at Londons KOKO. The summer of 2010 is already looking busy with a host of festival dates confirmed and many more to come.

Rodney P
Rodney P (born Rodney Panton in Battersea, London) is an EnglishMC who entered the UK hip hop scene in the 1980s. He started out as a member of the London Posse, one of the UK's first home grown hip hop acts who were highly influential in the development of the genre. Rodney P has had one of the longest and most respected careers in UK hip hop. Also known as da riddim killa, he cites the reggae he heard while growing up as a second-generation West Indian immigrant as an influence on his dub-heavy music.
History
In 1986, The London Posse were invited by Mick Jones of The Clash to support his new band Big Audio Dynamite on a UK tour. A recording contract with Big Life records followed, and Rodney P went on to support hip-hop heavyweights N.W.A and Soul II Soul in the early nineties.
The decision to guard his creative control led to the birth of his own label Riddim killa, a collaboration with Low Life Records, one of the leading labels of the rapidly growing scene. He was introduced to DJ Skitz by a mutual friend from the Deal Real workshop in the West End, and appears on Skitz’s albums Countryman and Homegrown volume 1. The pair went on to host a show on the BBC 1Xtra radio station, a leading black music network, which ran for five years until 2007. This development in his career led to involvement in radio documentaries, including a programme recorded in Johannesburg about the aftermath of Apartheid.
