Abbie Cornish (born 7 August 1982) is an Australian actress known for her film and television roles, particularly her award-winning lead performance in 2004's Somersault, and internationally for her role as Fanny Brawne in Bright Star and her appearance as Sweet Pea in Sucker Punch.

Cornish was born in Lochinvar, New South Wales, as the second of five children. She grew up on a 70 hectare (170-acre) farm,^[1] attended Catholic school,^[2] and was fascinated by independent and foreign films.^[3]

Her name is rather notorious for being linked to actor Ryan Phillipe during his highly publicized divorce from Reese Witherspoon, with whom he has two children. The four-year relationship between Phillipe and Cornish ended in 2010.^[4]

Her career began at the age of thirteen, when she began taking jobs as a model after reaching the finals of a Dolly Magazine competition.^[5] In 1999, Cornish was awarded the Australian Film Institute Young Actor's Award for her role in the ABC's television show Wildside and was offered her first role in a feature film, The Monkey's Mask.

In 2004, Cornish appeared in the award-winning short film Everything Goes with Hugo Weaving. She received the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actress at the FCCA and IF Awards and Best Breakthrough Performance at the 2005 Miami International Film Festival for her role in 2004's Somersault. Cornish received critical acclaim for her role in 2006's Candy, opposite Heath Ledger.^[5] She has also starred in A Good Year, Elizabeth: The Golden Age and Kimberly Peirce's Stop-Loss. In April 2010, Cornish was cast in Limitless, the film adaptation of the novel The Dark Fields,^[6] directed by Neil Burger and also starring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro.^[7]

Cornish narrated Zack Snyder's film Sucker Punch at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con International.^[8]

Cornish played the role of Wally in Madonna's film W.E. about Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson.^[3]

James D'Arcy (born 24 August 1975) is an English actor.

Early life[link]

James D'Arcy was born as Simon D'Arcy and grew up in Fulham, London, with his mother, Caroline (a nurse) and his younger sister Charlotte. His father died when he was young. After completing his education at Christ's Hospital in 1991, he went to Australia for a year and worked in the drama department of a school in Perth, which gave him an interest in acting. When he returned to London he applied for drama school. He did a three-year course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, completing a BA in Acting in 1995.

During his time at LAMDA he appeared in training productions of Heracles, As You Like It, Wild Honey, The Freedom of the City and Sherlock Holmes. On leaving drama school: "It was only when I finished the course and left my graduation diploma on the bus that I realized I'd become an actor."

His first appearances on television were small roles in the TV series Silent Witness (1996) and Dalziel and Pascoe (1996), followed by roles in TV film such as Nicholas Hawthorne in Ruth Rendell's Bribery and Corruption (1997), Lord Cheshire in The Canterville Ghost (1997) and Jonathan Maybury in The Ice House (1997). In 1997 he furthermore played Blifil in the Mini-series The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling. In 1999, he acted alongside Daniel Craig in the World War I-drama The Trench as well as having a small role in the comedy Guest House Paradiso.

From 2001 on, D’Arcy played bigger roles and leading characters in the mini-series Rebel Heart (film) (2001, Ernie Coyne), The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (2001, Nicholas Nickleby), with Sophia Myles and Charles Dance and Revelation (2001, Jake Martel). In 2002, he portrayed a young Sherlock Holmes in the television film Sherlock: Case of Evil. In 2003, he played the role of Barnaby Caspian in the film Dot the I alongside Gael García Bernal and Natalia Verbeke, and the character Jim Caddon in the series P.O.W In 2003, he also gained wider recognition when he portrayed Lt. Tom Pullings in Peter Weir's Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, opposite Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany.

He played in horror films Exorcist: The Beginning (2004, Father Francis), An American Haunting (2005, Richard Powell) and Rise: Blood Hunter (2007, Bishop). Apart from that, he appeared on television as Derek Kettering in the Poirot episode The Mystery of the Blue Train (2005), as Jerry Burton in Marple: The Moving Finger, as Tiberius Gracchus in the episode Revolution of Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire (2007), as Toby Clifford in Fallen Angel (2007) and as Tom Bertram in ITV's production of Mansfield Park, opposite Billie Piper, who played Rose Tyler in Doctor Who.

He has also worked for BBC radio dramas such as Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Bram Stoker's Dracula and Winifred Holtby's The Crowded Street. He played the role of Duncan in Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

In 2010, he played the role of Edward VIII in W.E., the second film directed by Madonna.

Emily Jane Browning^[1] (born 7 December 1988)^[1] is an Australian film actress, singer and fashion model. She won the 2005 AFI International Award for Best Actress for her role in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Browning won an AFI Young Actor's Award in 2002 and was nominated for the same award in 1999 and 2003. She was also nominated for Broadcast Film Critics Association Critics' Choice Award for Best Young Performer and Young Artist Awards Best Performance in a Feature Film, Leading Young Actress^[2] (both in 2005).

Browning was born in Melbourne, the daughter of Andrew and Shelley Browning, and has two younger brothers (Nicholas and Matthew).^[1][3] She has always been interested in the arts, citing English literature, photography, and fashion design as her favourite school subjects.^{[citation needed]}

She took a break from acting in order to complete her education at Eltham High School, where, in November 2006, she concluded her Victorian Certificate of Education exams.^[4]

Browning's acting career began at the age of eight, when she was noticed by a classmate's father at a school play and he recommended that she pursue acting as a profession.^{[citation needed]} Her debut role was on the 1998 Hallmark Channel movie Echo of Thunder.^[5] Additional roles in Australian film and television productions soon followed, including recurring parts in the television series Blue Heelers from 2000 to 2002, and Something in the Air from 2000 to 2001.

In 2001, Browning appeared as the daughter of a character played by Billy Connolly in The Man Who Sued God. She made her American film debut in 2002's Ghost Ship, and won an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Young Actress, the same year.^[6] In 2003, she appeared opposite Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom in 2003's Ned Kelly, and then reunited with Connolly the following year in the film adaptation of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, in which she played Violet Baudelaire.

In 2006, Browning appeared in the music video for Evermore's "Light Surrounding You".^[7] In the behind-the-scenes video for the clip, the band stated, "[We] suck as actors, so we decided to get Emily."^[8] She attended the L'Oreal Fashion Festival as a festival ambassador on 1 February 2007.^[9]

Browning played the lead in the 2009 horror film The Uninvited, an American remake of the 2003 South Korean film A Tale of Two Sisters. However, citing exhaustion, she then turned down a request to audition for the role of Bella Swan in Twilight, despite an endorsement from series author Stephenie Meyer.^[10][11] In 2009, she was cast as Baby Doll in Zack Snyder's action film Sucker Punch, as a replacement for Amanda Seyfried, who dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.^[12] Filming took place in Vancouver from September 2009 to January 2010,^[13] and the film was released on 25 March 2011.^[14] In an interview at the convention, she confirmed that she would be singing in the film, while claiming that her audition tape brought tears to her casting agent's eyes and the song she selected ("Killing Me Softly") was one of Zach Snyder's wife Deborah's favourites, which Browning referred to as the "selling point" on her being cast in the role.^[15]

Browning plays the lead role in the independent Australian film Sleeping Beauty, directed by Julia Leigh.^[16] She replaced friend and fellow young Australian actress Mia Wasikowska, who was committed to a film adaptation of Jane Eyre at the time.^[17] The film screened at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and the Sydney Film Festival. Browning said, "Even reading the screenplay, it made me feel uncomfortable. But that was something that attracted me to it. I would prefer to polarise an audience as opposed to making an entertaining film everybody feels ambivalent about."^[18]

She was also considered for the role of Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games" but was beaten out by Jennifer Lawrence.

Alex Cornish is an Edinburgh-based singer songwriter. He was educated at The Harvey Grammar School, Folkestone.

His début album 'Until the Traffic Stops' was initially released in 2008 on Bellevue Records, his own label, and was co-produced by Stuart Wilson. Later in 2008, the album was remixed with much of it re-recorded, this time with Cornish working on his own. The album was again re-released at the end of April 2009. Cornish wrote, sung and performed all the tracks on the album, in his home studio in Edinburgh^[1] with Simon Berriman (drums) and Bevis Hungate (piano) contributing. They also form part of Cornish's live band.

Cornish has been played on BBC Radio 1,^[2] BBC Radio 2,^[3] BBC 6 Music^[4] and XFM Scotland. He was the Sunday Times' 'hottest download of the week'.^[5] One of his tracks, I'm on the Right Side was used as the play out track to the film Solstice.^[6]

Cornish spent 2009 touring and supported Alison Moyet throughout November and December 2009.^[7] His second album 'Call Back' was released on 27 September 2010.^[8] The album was recorded in Cornish's home studio and also at Watercolour Studios in the Highlands of Scotland.^[9] In May 2010 he performed another session for Dermot O' Leary on BBC Radio 2 alongside Ellie Goulding.^[3] The cover of Brothers in Arms performed in that session was included on the Dermot O' Leary Saturday Sessions CD which was released on Sony in October 2010.^[10]

In 2010 Alex toured through various Cafe Neros in the UK sponsored by the Nokia Music Store. He also supported Amy MacDonald.^[11] Cornish has also supported, amongst others, Tom McRae,^[12] and Starsailor^[13]

Cornish's third album "No Shore" was released in June 2011.

Alex Cornish's music has featured in various US TV shows including Showtime's 'The Big C'^[14] and ABC's 'Private Practice'^[15]
