Our humble attempt to help Hindi speaking students learn basics of English Grammar! In this part, starting with a brief introduction to the meaning and concept of direct and indirect speech we explain the rules of change from direct speech to indirect speech in a simple to understand way. This and others of my videos are meant for Hindi/Urdu speaking learners from the Indian sub-continent. Indirect rule was a system of government that was developed in certain British colonial dependencies (particularly in parts of Africa and Asia). By this system, much of the day-to-day government of localities was left in the hands of traditional rulers (who in principle gained prestige and stability, albeit at the cost of a loss of autonomy), thus allowing a limited number of European colonial administrators to effectively oversee the government of large numbers of people spread over extensive areas.
The ideological underpinnings, as well as the practical application of indirect rule in Kenyan colonialism is usually traced to the work of Frederick Lugard, the High Commissioner of the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria from 1899 to 1906. In the lands of the Sokoto Caliphate, conquered by the British Empire at the turn of the century, Lugard instituted a system whereby external, military, and tax control was operated by the British, while most every other aspect of life was left to local pre-colonial aristocracies who had sided with the British during their conquest. The theory behind this solution to a very practical problem of domination by a tiny group of foreigners of huge populations is laid out in Lugard's influential work, The Dual Mandate in British Tropical Africa.

Our humble attempt to help Hindi speaking students learn basics of English Grammar! In this part, starting with a brief introduction to the meaning and concept of direct and indirect speech we explain the rules of change from direct speech to indirect speech in a simple to understand way. This and others of my videos are meant for Hindi/Urdu speaking learners from the Indian sub-continent. Please do comment on the contents and style of this lesson to help us improve our performance in subsequent parts.

Exercise_Present Indefinite Tense 4. Past Indefinite Tense (2nd Version) 5. Past Indefinite (uploaded in September 2012) 6. Future Indefinite Tense (2nd Version) 7. Future Indefinite Tense (uploaded in September 2012) 8. Continuous Tenses 9 Present Perfect Tense 10. Past Perfect Tense and Future Perfect Tense 11. Perfect Continuous Tenses 12. Use of is/am/are/was/were/has/have/had 13. Imperative Sentences 14.Active Voice to Passive Voice 15. Direct and Indirect Speech 16. Conditional- Type 1 17 Conditionals- Type 2 and Type 3
Videos on errors may be watched in any order.. I strongly recommend that you move to the next video only when you are sure that you have learnt well what has been taught in the previous video.There is no substitute for sufficient practice on making sentences of each tense before moving to the next one..Many of these videos carry 'Video No.' at the top, when being played.
