Seona Dancing
Seona Dancing /ˈʃɔːnə/ were a 1980s British new wave group, best known for providing comedian Ricky Gervais with his first experiences as a public performer. Although the band was not successful, their single "More to Lose" went on to become a teen anthem in the Philippines.
History
In June 1982, in his final year as a student at University College London, Ricky Gervais and his friend Bill Macrae formed Seona Dancing, with Macrae writing the songs and playing keyboards and Gervais writing and singing the lyrics. After recording a sixteen-song demo tape, they were signed by London Records which released two of their singles: "More to Lose" and "Bitter Heart". In June 1983, the duo performed their single "More to Lose" on the ITV syndicated children's television show Razzamatazz. Yet, despite the promotion of "Bitter Heart" through its music video and "More to Lose" by its TV performance, both singles failed to break the Top 40, with "More to Lose" charting at number 117 and "Bitter Heart" at number 79 on the UK Singles Chart. After the lacklustre performance of their two singles, the band split up in 1984.

MACRAE Bill 118567 Born in 1913 Bill was working in London when the war broke out. He first joined the British Army, graduating as a Lieutenant in March 1940, but later joined the RAF where he was selected for pilot training. A posting to the Middle East followed with Bill flying Wellington aircraft as part of the Desert Air Force. Based in various locations including Malta, Bill was involved in raids on Tobruk, Palermo and El Alamein. Following his tour he instructed at an OTU at Lossimouth in Scotland. Bill was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Force Cross. In 2015 at the age of 102 and a half Bill was part of a group of Bomber Command veterans visiting the Temora Aviation Museum.

The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Born in 1913 Bill was working in London when the war broke out. He first joined the British Army, graduating as a Lieutenant in March 1940, but later joined the RAF where he was selected for pilot training. A posting to the Middle East followed with Bill flying Wellington aircraft as part of the Desert Air Force. Based in various locations including Malta, Bill was involved in raids on Tobruk, Palermo and El Alamein. Following his tour he instructed at an OTU at Lossimouth in Scotland. Bill was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Force Cross. In 2015 at the age of 102 and a half Bill was part of a group of Bomber Command veterans visiting the Temora Aviation Museum.
Seona Dancing
Seona Dancing /ˈʃɔːnə/ were a 1980s British new wave group, best known for providing comedian Ricky Gervais with his first experiences as a public performer. Although the band was not successful, their single "More to Lose" went on to become a teen anthem in the Philippines.
History
In June 1982, in his final year as a student at University College London, Ricky Gervais and his friend Bill Macrae formed Seona Dancing, with Macrae writing the songs and playing keyboards and Gervais writing and singing the lyrics. After recording a sixteen-song demo tape, they were signed by London Records which released two of their singles: "More to Lose" and "Bitter Heart". In June 1983, the duo performed their single "More to Lose" on the ITV syndicated children's television show Razzamatazz. Yet, despite the promotion of "Bitter Heart" through its music video and "More to Lose" by its TV performance, both singles failed to break the Top 40, with "More to Lose" charting at number 117 and "Bitter Heart" at number 79 on the UK Singles Chart. After the lacklustre performance of their two singles, the band split up in 1984.
