Alex English - A Lesson in English
Alex English (born January 5, 1954 in Columbia, South Carolina) is a retired American basketball player who played at the forward position. He played at the University of South Carolina and most notably with the National Basketball Association's Denver Nuggets. He averaged 21.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during his NBA career. He was named to seven NBA All-Star teams, his #2 jersey was retired by the Nuggets, and he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame. English scored more points in the decade of the 1980s than any other NBA player. English spent the majority of his career with the Nuggets, but also played briefly with the Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers and Dallas Mavericks. He was drafted in 1976 by the Bucks, and was part of a rookie class that includes fellow Hall of Famer Robert Parish. Most of his time in Milwaukee was spent as a back-up. However, it wasn't until he was sent to Indiana in 1978 that he began his reputation as a scorer, averaging 16 points there before being traded to Denver. English was traded to the Nuggets midway through the 1979-80 season for George McGinnis, a former Pacers star from their ABA days. It turned out to be one of the most one-sided trades in NBA history; McGinnis was out of the league by 1982. English's career ended in 1991, with a short stint for the Dallas Mavericks, where he once again played back-up, averaging ten points a game. English's style has been described as smooth and elegant. After blowing out Denver in the first game of the Western Conference finals, Alex English and the Nuggets come back strong and pull off a blowout victory of their own. English uses his signature leaners and unique off-balance jumpshots to score 40 points at The Forum. I have to add that 21 of those 40 points came in the fourth quarter to put the Lakers away. With his Denver Nuggets missing the injured Fat Lever and struggling on the road at Miami, Alex English picks up the slack and scores 51 points. English is his usual self from the mid-range and uses his signature pump fakes to gain advantage for his high-release jump-shot. I want to point out that Denver's announcers are annoyed with the few calls English gets (he went 24/35 from the field and only attempted 4 free throws) and claim that he's the least respected star in the league. You'll notice that they do have a point on some occasions. Also look out for Alex's 10 assists (the boxscore says 9, yet I came up with 10 sure thing assists) - there's a reason Doug Moe always praised English for his ability to hit the cutter. An amazing game from one of the greats of the 80's. March 10, 1989.

The lyrics are very different from the final version. Much of it was made up on the spot. Jon's part are pretty much the same but Kurts are very different. This is the only video as I can tell that has Jon Mess doing vocals for this song. One of the BEST shows I'VE ever been to.

We wanted to push video mapping on from anything that has been done so far. Using live puppetry, 3D tracking, pyrotechnics (and a whole bunch of our friends' spare time) we transformed a room into three different vignettes. Can you guess the films?!
