Jody Williams - Lucky Lou
Retired from the Chicago blues business for decades and now back again and sounding as good as ever, Jody Williams's stinging lead guitar work is still stirringly felt every time someone punches up Billy Boy Arnold's "I Was Fooled," Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love," Otis Spann's "Five Spot," or Williams's eerie minor-key instrumental masterpiece, "Lucky Lou."

Jody Williams - Nobel Women's Initiative
Jody Williams received the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for her work with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL). She is now the founder and chair of the Nobel Women's Initiative, where six of the seven women alive today who have received the Nobel Peace Prize together bring change for women around the world. In this three-minute interview with Global X, she tells of her passion for global affairs. She remembers being worried about the Vietnam war when she was still a student, which led to her involvement around the US presence in El Salvador. But she is quick to say that "you don't need to be a full time activist to make the world a better place." Her advice: "Find an organization working on an issue of interest to you. Volunteer. Give one hour a month. Maybe you will become so engaged that you will give two hours a month, then maybe an hour a week. Imagine if all the people who believed in a better world did that --what a world could and would be!" Her wish: "Just don't whine about issues! Get up and take action to make a better world!"

Jody Williams/Little Papa Joe-Looking For My Baby
Back to Back 'Looking For My Baby' from 1955 and 2004 by Jody Williams. First recorded for Al Benson on his Blue Lake logo in '55 under the name Little Papa Joe. So you think you don't know Jody Williams? If you know 'Evil' or 'Forty-Four' by Howlin' Wolf, you know Jody. If you know 'Mona' or 'Who Do You Love' by Bo Diddley, you know Jody. If you know 'I Wish You Would' or 'I was Fooled' by Billy Boy Arnold, you know Jody. All those hot guitar licks were his. Not Wolf's or Hubert's, not Bo's, they were Jody's. Now, when Big Bad Bo gave Jody's licks from 'Billy's Blues' to Mickey and Sylvia, I guess Jody had had it and quit in the 60's. But he's back 40some years later, and better than ever. He rerecorded 'Looking' and here's the chance to hear both back to back. He is simply, and has always been (ask Otis Rush), one of the best Chicago Blues pickers ever. Nobody does a Chicago shuffle or boogie better. Bless you Jody for the great music you've given us.

Jody Williams - Oslo Freedom Forum 2011
Jody Williams, peace advocate and Nobel Prize Laureate, outlines the steps for successfully making a change in the world. An individual or group must start with a concrete goal; in Williams' case, the goal was an international treaty banning landmines. Then, a call must be made to find others with the same ambitions. Williams allied herself with other people and organizations that identified with her vision, from Afghan deminers to Cambodian monks. The efforts should not stop, however, once the goal is achieved. After the treaty was signed, Williams and her team pushed to make sure that governments complied with the new rules. Williams ends her motivational speech with a message about peace--"Security," she says, "will come to us when we live in a world with sustainable peace, which is peace with justice and equality." Williams closes her address by reminding the audience that peace is more than the absence of conflict and more than rainbows, doves, and singing Kumbaya. For Williams, sustainable peace can only exist in conjunction with justice and equality, and in order to achieve this kind of peace, individuals, "can and must become agents of change."
