Uncontacted tribe filmed on Brazil-Peru border - 30 May 08
Paul Allen reports on one of the world's last remaining uncontacted tribes.
Brazil's government has released pictures of a previously unseen community of people living in the Amazonian rainforest.
It is believed they have never had previous contact with the outside world.
They were located on the border between Brazil and Peru.
The footage was taken from the air by Funai, a Brazilian government foundation, dedicated to the protection of indigenous tribes.
Funai has a policy to not contact tribes similar to this one, and instead try to prevent invasions of their land so they remain autonomous.
But the agency warns the tribe, and others like it believed to be living in the Amazon, that they are at risk from illegal logging.

Each character in the film screws someone's happiness which create extremely humorous situations and rib tickling comedy. ABSTRACT
Dr. Ben Goertzel - Artificial General Intelligence: Now Is the Time Essay: www.kurzweilai.net/articles/art0701.html Abstract: When the AI field was founded over 50 years ago, it was squarely focused on the grand dream of creating software displaying general intelligence at the human level or beyond. Since that time the field has drifted in a direction Ray Kurzweil has called "Narrow AI": the creation of intelligent software applications carrying out highly particular functions. The relationship between this sort of narrow AI and "artificial general intelligence" (AGI) as in the original dreams of the AI field, is an issue of dispute among experts. Some researchers believe powerful AGI will result eventually from the development and combination of narrow AI products -- such as, for example, data mining software as is commonly used in the finance industry; auto navigation software like the kind used in the DARPA Grand Challenge; and last but not least, sophisticated search engines like Google. Other researchers believe that AGI will only come about via emulation of the human brain, once brain mapping technology has advanced further. On the other hand, an increasing minority of researchers believes that AGI is most likely to be achieved via computer science researchers explicitly attempting to create AGI software programs, divorced from any particular narrow application area. In this talk I will briefly overview this emerging subdiscipline of "AGI", including the work of various researchers such as Stan Franklin, Pei Wang and Stuart Shapiro. I will then discuss my own work on the Novamente Cognition Engine, an AGI project based on combining a number of knowledge representations and reasoning and learning techniques into an integrative architecture motivated by complex systems theory, and initially oriented at the control of virtual agents in 3D simulation worlds such as Second Life.

Debate 2.0: DAP & MCA: Whose policies benefit the country more?
At a press conference held on May 30, 2012, at the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI), Dr Michael Yeoh announced that the second debate between MCA president Chua Soi Lek and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng will be held on July 8, 2012.
The debate, known as 'Debate 2.0: DAP & MCA: Whose Polices Benefit the Country More?', will be at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre.
The time allocated for the debate is two hours, that is from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The debate will be conducted in English.
The topics that will be covered on are:
• Education
• Healthcare
• Economic Prosperity
• Community Service
• National Unity
• Public Welfare
• Poverty Alleviation
The rationale behind the choice of the topics is that as the election is just around the corner, the debaters will get to discuss their public policies and the public will get to see which party has better policies.
The debate will continue the series of public policy discussions that ASLI had been promoting for a long time. Yeoh said that it is important because there a greater need to focus on public policy issues that are important to the country and to different communities.
He thinks that for politics in Malaysia to develop to a greater level we need to be able to debate on issues and public policy matters rather than be emotional and criticize personalities.
Half an hour will be given for a panel to post questions. ASLI will select a panel of three persons, who are academicians or newspaper editors. The panel will also be agreed upon by the debaters.
A Q & A session will be opened to the public. According to Yeoh, the questions will have to be submitted earlier, and then representatives from both parties can select and ask the debaters. Or questions can be submitted on cards and posted to the debaters. Yeoh said this will prevent people from rushing to the microphone.
As the seating capacity for the convention hall is 1500, each party will be allocated about 400 to 500 seats each, the remaining 500 seats will be allocated to the public. Registration for the seats will be on a first come first basic. Registration is open from June 1, 2012, and the entrance fee for the public is prized at RM88 each.

Conspiracy theories about the citizenship of Barack Obama claim that Barack Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States and is therefore not eligible to be President of the United States under Article Two of the U.S. Constitution. Some theories allege that Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii, or that his birth certificate is a forgery. Others allege that Obama became a citizen of Indonesia and lost his U.S. citizenship. Still others claim that because Obama's father was from Kenya, that means he held dual citizenship at birth (British and American), and the supposed dual citizenship means Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States. These theories have been characterized by some commentators as racist, or a racial reaction to the first African American president of the United States.[4]
The claims have been promoted by a number of fringe theorists and political opponents, often referred to as "birthers", some of whom filed unsuccessful lawsuits seeking to disqualify Obama from running for, or being sworn in as President, or to obtain additional proof that he is constitutionally eligible to hold the office of President. Some Republican elected officials have expressed skepticism about Obama's citizenship or have displayed a lack of willingness to acknowledge it.[5] Republican members of the U.S. Congress and state legislatures have proposed and voted for legislation that would require presidential candidates to provide documentation of their qualifications to be president, including natural-born citizenship.[5]
Belief in the conspiracy theories has persisted despite Obama's pre-election release of his official birth certificate from Hawaii in 2008,[1] additional confirmation by the Hawaii Department of Health based on the original documents,[6] and the April 2011 release of a certified copy of Obama's original Certificate of Live Birth (so-called long-form birth certificate). Other evidence of Obama's Hawaii birth has surfaced such as birth announcements published in August 1961 in two Hawaii newspapers.[7] Polls conducted in 2010 suggested that at least one quarter of adult Americans doubted Obama's U.S. birth,[8][9] while a May 2011 Gallup poll found that doubts persisted among 13% of Americans and 23% of Republicans.[10]
A tropical cyclone is a storm system characterized by a low-pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and heavy rain. Tropical cyclones strengthen when water evaporated from the ocean is released as the saturated air rises, resulting in condensation of water vapor contained in the moist air. They are fueled by a different heat mechanism than other cyclonic windstorms such as nor'easters, European windstorms, and polar lows. The characteristic that separates tropical cyclones from other cyclonic systems is that at any height in the atmosphere, the center of a tropical cyclone will be warmer than its surroundings; a phenomenon called "warm core" storm systems.
The term "tropical" refers both to the geographical origin of these systems, which usually form in tropical regions of the globe, and to their formation in maritime tropical air masses. The term "cyclone" refers to such storms' cyclonic nature, with counterclockwise wind flow in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise wind flow in the Southern Hemisphere. The opposite direction of the wind flow is a result of the Coriolis force. Depending on its location and strength, a tropical cyclone is referred to by names such as hurricane (/ˈhʌrɨkeɪn/, /ˈhʌrɨkən/), typhoon, tropical storm, cyclonic storm, tropical depression, and simply cyclone.
While tropical cyclones can produce extremely powerful winds and torrential rain, they are also able to produce high waves and damaging storm surge as well as spawning tornadoes. They develop over large bodies of warm water, and lose their strength if they move over land due to increased surface friction and loss of the warm ocean as an energy source. This is why coastal regions can receive significant damage from a tropical cyclone, while inland regions are relatively safe from receiving strong winds. Heavy rains, however, can produce significant flooding inland, and storm surges can produce extensive coastal flooding up to 40 kilometres (25 mi) from the coastline. Although their effects on human populations can be devastating, tropical cyclones can relieve drought conditions. They also carry heat energy away from the tropics and transport it toward temperate latitudes, which makes them an important part of the global atmospheric circulation mechanism. As a result, tropical cyclones help to maintain equilibrium in the Earth's troposphere, and to maintain a relatively stable and warm temperature worldwide.
