Digital Life
A parody of the first music video to appear on MTV : Buggles with "Video Killed the Radio Star". This is my first endeavor on my own (I miss Herb!) so I went completely low-key - all video shot on the iPhone 4 and edited in iMovie with no frills. Vocals were self produced in GarageBand with a Snowball mic. This project was created as my digital artifact submission to a Massive Open Online Course I'm taking through Coursera- "E-Learning and Digital Cultures" (#edcmooc).
Special thanks to my daughter and husband, who helped with the artwork, sets, and performing.

Lyrics by Amy Burvall
We've had the Internet since 1992
And now I never have a sense of "what to do?"
Because we're all just nodes- connecting- me and you
Oh-a oh
We wonder if all information should be free
And with our education -- how "tech" could it be?
..If our devices might change our biology
Oh-a oh
I'll get my Mac Pro
Oh-a oh
and go to Google
Digital Life has changed who we are
Digital Life has changed who we are
We're binary in our hearts
Oh-a-a-a oh
And now we tweet and blog and hashtag all our thoughts
Our children start to play with personal robots
Nothing is real until we Instagram our shots
Oh-a oh
You gotta post it
Oh-a oh
that makes it Le-git
Digital Life has changed who we are
Digital Life has changed who we are
GPS to drive my car
my phone finds me restaurants and bars
Oh-a- oh
Oh-a-oh
Digital Life has changed who we are
Digital Life has changed who we are
Sometimes I think it's so bizarre
I'm with you but my mind is far
Distraught when I lose Wi-Fi bars
just want to be a YouTube star.....
...a viral video star

You can get the my entire training at http://www.photoserge.com/apps and get the raw files and see all my Podcast at http://www.photoserge.com/podcasts
In this episode we will continue to study the powerful workflow of Dynamic Range Increase. The idea is to use bracketed photos but instead of using an HDR software we are going to use layers in Photoshop to blend the various exposures.
The idea is to get a more natural result, specially for very contrasty scene like sunsets.

This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide.
Spain´s highest mountain @(3718m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories.
The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide. I have to say this was one of the most exhausting trips I have done. There was a lot of hiking at high altitudes and probably less than 10 hours of sleep in total for the whole week. Having been here 10-11 times before I had a long list of must-see locations I wanted to capture for this movie, but I am still not 100% used to carrying around so much gear required for time-lapse movies.
A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert on the 9th April (http://bit.ly/g3tsDW) and at approx 3am in the night the sandstorm hit me, making it nearly impossible to see the sky with my own eyes.
Interestingly enough my camera was set for a 5 hour sequence of the milky way during this time and I was sure my whole scene was ruined. To my surprise, my camera had managed to capture the sandstorm which was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like golden clouds. The Milky Way was shining through the clouds, making the stars sparkle in an interesting way. So if you ever wondered how the Milky Way would look through a Sahara sandstorm, look at 00:32.

I spent a week capturing one of the biggest aurora borealis shows in recent years.
Shot in and around Kirkenes and Pas National Park bordering Russia, at 70 degree north and 30 degrees east. Temperatures around -25 Celsius. Good fun.

PLEASE WATCH IN HD FULL SCREEN w/SOUND. It is a much better viewing experience. Hopefully you have a 1080P monitor and good connection. If not, bug a friend or colleague that does. It is worth it.
Landscapes: Volume 2 is the second of a three part series. Every frame of this video is a raw still from a Canon 5D2 DSLR and processed with Adobe software. In Volume 2 I again show off my beautiful home state of Arizona and I also made several trips to Utah. This video has some iconic landmarks that we have seen before. I felt that showing them again with motion controlled HDR and/or night timelapse would be a new way to see old landmarks.
Sales Pitch: I would now have to say that my timelapse skill set is very complete. The amount of knowledge I have gained through research, testing, and shooting experience is astounding. From moon phases to high dynamic range to motion control rigs to noise reduction, you would have a tough time finding someone with more overall knowledge of timelapse. If you need help with your next timelapse project you can reach me at 888-444-2739 or DustinF@crewwestinc.com
Most of the motion control for this video was done with the Stage Zero Dolly by Dynamic Perception. Once I got comfortable using the DP dolly I fell in love. I can set up shots now in much shorter times. More importantly for me, it is much smaller and much more portable than my homemade motion control. Without it, shots like the Delicate Arch shot in Utah would be nearly impossible due to the length of the hike. Buy the Stage Zero Dolly if you are looking for quality, inexpensive, easy-to-use motion control. http://dynamicperception.com/
In addition to the Stage Zero, I also used a three axis motion controlled CamTram. The CamTram is the most versatile dolly I have ever used. Its applications are only limited by your creativity. The CamTram has virtually no weight limit. I was able to achieve shots that dolly-in with the camera just over the ground because of the CamTram's ability to hold heavy counter weights.

Behind the Magic: Building a Digital New York for "The Avengers"
Although roughly a third of "The Avengers" is set in New York City precious little was actually filmed there. ILM crew members photographed 7-miles of city streets from a variety of heights and at different times of day totaling 250,000 images. The crew then digitally recreated roughly 20 square blocks of mid-town Manhattan using a variety of techniques. Live action shoots were held primarily on sound stages in New Mexico and in the streets of Cleveland.

PLEASE NOTE: that "crackling" some people are pointing out is an effect, like a bit crusher effect. It was done on purpose to show how the location of your touch effects the sound. You can apply any control parameter you want to each axis of the touch screen. This instrument is not limited to one type of effect. I personally like the sound, but it is subjective like all music is.

RZA aka Bobby Digital "La Rhumba" uncensored
Top Videos ... click: http://youtube.com/nogoodflix
BUZZ ... must see: http://flix.bz .... NEW today: http://cieon.me
Enjoy the completely UNCENSORED cut of the hot track "LA RHUMBA" from RZA aka BOBBY DIGITAL.
Digital Bullet is RZA's second album under his alias, Bobby Digital. It's no shock that he brought Bobby back; the first Digital outing, Bobby Digital in Stereo, was a high mark in the Wu Tang Clan producer's prolific career. What is a bit surprising is the sound of this effort, which frequently stretches all the way back to the mystical murk of the Clan's first album, Enter the Wu-Tang. The muffled beats and disorienting, late-night soundscapes of that hip-hop classic have been imitated countless times since its 1993 release, but nobody does 'em like the Rizza, and uneasy tracks like "Must Be Bobby" and "Domestic Violence Pt. 2" seem to bring him full circle — as does the presence of several Clan members, including the legendary ODB. Even the nods to the mainstream — "Glocko Pop" and the swaying single "La Rhumba" — seem, like RZA's best work, to have arrived from a slightly different dimension. Meanwhile, there is a storyline to this installment of the Digital story, but as on In Stereo, listeners have to use some imagination to fill it out; RZA's rhymes are often as evocative and opaque as the kung-fu flicks he loves. But as always, he creates tracks that are more about atmosphere than message — and when he's on his game, as he is here, it's hard to argue with that approach.
