Victor Crivoi (born May 25, 1982^[1]) is a Romanian tennis player who lives in Bucharest. In 2005, he played in the International Tennis Federation's Professional Circuit and won seven titles. As a result, he was named the ITF's "Player Of The Year" for 2005. At the end of 2005, he was ranked #269 by the ATP, up from #488 at the year's start.^[2] His career high ranking is #75, achieved on August 17, 2009.

In the 2009 Internazionali BNL d'Italia, as a qualifier, he beat 14th seed James Blake 7-5, 6-3 in the first round; he then lost to Robin Söderling.

He qualified for the 2009 French Open. He lost to Gaël Monfils in the second round.

Potito Starace (born July 14, 1981 in Cervinara) is an Italian professional tennis player on the ATP Tour. He achieved his career-high ranking of 27th on October 15, 2007 and prefers to play on red clay. Umberto Rianna is the coach from Potito Starace and Daniele Bracciali.

One of the most memorable moments of Starace's career was when he made the men's doubles quarterfinals of the 2006 French Open with Alberto Martín. They defeated eighth-seeded Simon Aspelin and Todd Perry along the way, before walking over to second seeds Jonas Björkman and Max Mirnyi.

He played four ATP finals and lost all. In the Challenger Tour he won the San Marino CEPU Open three times, a record for that tournament. In doubles he won five ATP titles.

He represented Italy at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he lost to Rafael Nadal in the first round.^[1]

Betting scandal[link]

Following Alessio di Mauro's 9 month ban in November 2007, Starace and Daniele Bracciali were each fined and given short suspensions from playing. Starace received a fine of £21,400 and a 6 weeks ban from January 1, 2008. All of the players were Italian. None of the bets pertained to matches they were involved in or had any stake in.

2003[link]

In 2003, Bolelli reached his first ITF Futures tournament semifinal at Egypt F1, losing to 485th-ranked Jaroslav Pospíšil. He played entirely Futures events except for one Challenger tournament in Brindisi, losing to Galo Blanco in the second round. He finished the year ranked 623.

2004[link]

2004 saw Simone reached his first Futures final, losing to Dominique Coene. He then made another final and won two futures titles, making a 2 wins out of 3 finals record for Futures finals in the 2004 season. He won the Italy F15 and F8 titles, and lost in the final of a Challenger event in Braşov. In doubles, Bolelli won the doubles Futures title with Alberto Brizzi at Italy F15, and with Brizzi at Italy F8, winning both the singles and doubles events at F15 and F8. He finished ranked 269 for singles and 533 for doubles.

2005[link]

Bolelli did not win a Futures tournament at all in 2005 for singles, however did reach the finals of a Challenger in Trani. Simone's doubles success in 2005 was also limited: for he didn't even reach any type of Futures or Challenger final.

2006[link]

Simone Bolelli played in a few tournaments higher than a Challenger, receiving a wildcard into the Rome Masters. He lost in in three sets to number 39 Fernando Verdasco. He also won the Como Futures tournament, and made the finals of Recanati before losing to Davide Sanguinetti. He won his first Challenger singles title over Ivo Minář, and then made the final of a Challenger in Bergamo where he lost to Alex Bogdanović. He also played Fernando González in Basel (entering the tournament as a Lucky Loser), taking the second set in a tiebreak and losing the surrounding sets in tiebreaks. Bolelli qualified and lost in the first round of Vienna to number 27 Dominik Hrbatý. He lost in Stuttgart to Jiří Novák, having played 4 ATP matches and winning a set in 2 of them. Partnered with Fabio Fognini, Bolelli lost in the finals of the Naples Challenger doubles tournament in March. Simone won the Rencanati doubles tournament with singles champion (who defeated Bolelli in the final), Davide Sanguinetti, and reached the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters partnering Andreas Seppi, winning three-set matches over Igor Andreev and Nikolay Davydenko and then Leoš Friedl and František Čermák. They eventually lost to Fabrice Santoro and Nenad Zimonjić. He finished the year ranked in the top 200, ranked 127 for singles and 171 for doubles.

2007[link]

In qualifying for the 2007 Australian Open, Bolleli was seeded 15th, but lost in the second round.^[1] Bolelli lost to Fabrice Santoro in the Bergamo Challenger, and bosted a career win over 22nd-ranked Dmitry Tursunov at the Miami Masters, before losing to David Ferrer. He won and lost one singles Davis cup match versus Israel, losing to Noam Okun, but beating Dudi Sela. He lost in the Casablanca challenger final to Marin Čilić and winning his own in Tunisia over Andrei Pavel in three sets. Simone beat former World Number 1 Marat Safin in Barcelona, and competed in the Miami, Rome and Hamburg Masters. He made a Grand Slam debut at the 2007 French Open, beating former runner-up Martin Verkerk and then losing to Guillermo Cañas, and again, beating Guillermo García-López at the 2007 Wimbledon event before losing to former world number 1 Lleyton Hewitt. He lost in the first round of doubles cometition on both occasions, both times with Juan Martín del Potro.

2008[link]

Bolelli was banned by The Italian Tennis Federation from future national team events for skipping the Davis Cup tie with Latvia in Europe-Africa zone relegation playoff. The ban prevents Bolelli from playing in Davis Cup and the Olympics. It will also prevent him from getting wild cards that are assigned for select tournaments by the federation. Bolelli said he told Italy captain Corrado Barrazzutti well in advance of the tie that he preferred to work on his fast-court game in Asia.

2009[link]

Bolelli represented Italy along with Flavia Pennetta in the Hopman Cup. He won 2 out of 3 matches, the loss being to former World Number 1, Marat Safin. He defeated Gilles Simon in straight sets, his first top 10 defeat. In the Medibank International, he defeated compatriot Potito Starace in the first round 7–6, 6–4, before falling to third seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets.

At the Australian Open Bolelli beat Kristof Vliegen 7–6, 7–6, 7–5 in the first round. In the second round Bolelli lost to the 23rd seed Mardy Fish 6–4, 6–1, 7–5. In the ABN AMRO tournament in Rotterdam Bolelli face Word No. 1 Rafael Nadal in the first round. Bolelli won the first set 6–4, but this was not enough and Nadal won 4–6 6–2 7–5.^[2]

Emil Boc (Romanian pronunciation: [eˈmil ˈbok]; born September 6, 1966) is a Romanian politician who was Prime Minister of Romania from 22 December 2008 until his resignation on 6 February 2012. In June 2004, he was elected Mayor of Cluj-Napoca, the largest city in Transylvania. Boc is also the president of the Democratic Liberal Party, which designated him as Prime Minister in 2008. On October 13, 2009, his cabinet fell after losing a motion of no confidence in Parliament. He was acting as the head of an interim cabinet until a new Prime Minister and cabinet were confirmed by Parliament. On December 17, 2009, he was given a mandate by President Traian Băsescu to form a new government, afterwards receiving the vote of confidence from parliament.

On 6 February 2012, Boc submitted his resignation to the president, citing the need to "defuse political and social tension" over austerity cuts.^[1]

Personal life[link]

Emil was born to Ioan and Ana Boc in the village of Răchiţele, commune Mărgău, Cluj County; he has three older brothers (Ioan, Gheorghe, and Traian) and one sister (Dorina). Emil Boc and his wife Oana, a university lecturer whom he married in July 1994, have two daughters, Cezara and Patricia. He and his family belong to the Romanian Orthodox Church.^[2]

Political career[link]

Boc's entrance into mainstream Romanian politics was in 2003, when he was elected executive president of the Democratic Party; he had been proposed by Traian Băsescu. His original job was to define clearly the Democratic Party's identity so that it would not be confused with the National Liberal Party.^[3]

Mayor of Cluj-Napoca[link]

He assumed the position of mayor after the 2004 election victory against the far right nationalist Gheorghe Funar, who had been mayor of Cluj-Napoca for twelve years. In that election, Funar lost out in the first round to both Boc and the Social Democratic Party candidate Ioan Rus. Boc went on to defeat Rus in a run-off election. In the 2008 election, Boc received 76.2% of the vote, avoiding a second round.^[4] He almost died in May 2006 because of a bad fall during a TV show.^[5]

Following the 2008 legislative elections, the Democratic Liberal Party and the Social Democratic Party joined forces to form a government. President Traian Băsescu initially nominated Theodor Stolojan as Prime Minister, but, following Stolojan's withdrawal, on December 15 Boc was nominated as head of government and was confirmed by Parliament on December 22, 2008.

Boc's government fell after a vote of no confidence in the Parliament on October 13, 2009.^[6] The vote followed the collapse of his ruling coalition, which was caused by his ousting of Dan Nica, the interior minister.^[7] Boc acted as interim Prime Minister until a new government was to take charge. The opposition parliamentary groups proposed Klaus Iohannis as a candidate, but President Traian Băsescu nominated Lucian Croitoru, and after his failing to obtain the Parliament confirmation for his government, he nominated Liviu Negoiţă. Eventually, Boc was reinstated as Prime Minister after the presidential elections ended with the victory of incumbent president Traian Băsescu who supported him.

On 6th February 2012, Boc resigned from office amid ongoing anti-austerity protests.

Adrian Garcia is the Sheriff of Harris County, Texas. He defeated Tommy Thomas in 2008,^[1] who had been the sheriff for 14 years. Adrian Garcia spent 23 years with the Houston Police Department before serving as Sheriff to Harris County. Former Houston Mayor Bob Lanier appointed Sheriff Garcia to the position of HPD’s liaison to the Mayor’s Anti-Gang Office And in 1999, Adrian was named Director of this anti-gang effort.

After leaving HPD, Adrian served six years as a Houston City Councilman eventually becoming Mayor Pro-Tempore under former Mayor Bill White.
