To find out more about Premiership Rugby visit: www.premiershiprugby.com Premiership Rugby on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Saracens debutant Chris Ashton stole the show with a villain to hero two-try display as his new side kicked off their Aviva Premiership campaign in style by beating London Irish 40-3 in the London Double Header at Twickenham. Ashton - who joined from Northampton in the summer - was in his new fans' bad books in the first half when he was sin-binned for a late tackle on Steve Shingler. However that transgression was quickly forgotten after the break as he crossed for two debut scores in a Sarries jersey and produced a moment of brilliance to set up a Brad Barritt for another. The England wing's heroics were the catalyst for a ruthless display by last year's beaten Aviva Premiership semi-finalists which featured 17 points from Charlie Hodgson and a bonus-point sealing score from Nils Mordt. Having retired from international duty after the tour to South Africa fly-half Hodgson was as impressive as ever with the boot as he took his tally of Aviva Premiership points over the 2000 mark - cementing his position as the league's all-time top scorer. The Exiles' only points on a tough afternoon at Twickenham came from the boot of Tom Homer in the first half ...

To find out more about Premiership Rugby visit: www.premiershiprugby.com Premiership Rugby on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Second-half tries from Joel Tomkins, Will Fraser and David Strettle helped Saracens pick up a 35-14 bonus point win over London Welsh and leapfrog Harlequins into top spot in the Aviva Premiership. Tomkins and Fraser scored within 15 minutes of each other after the break while Saracens wing Strettle touched down inside the final ten to add to a penalty try in the first half. London Welsh scored first through new signing from Harlequins Seb Stegmann with fly-half Gavin Henson kicking two penalties and a drop goal but, once in front, Saracens were never reeled in. Discipline contributed to London Welsh's downfall as Phil Mackenzie and Tom Bristow were yellow carded in the first half while of Hodgson's 15 points nine were from penalties. The bonus point win moves Saracens top of the Aviva Premiership with the cushion over reigning champions Harlequins four points with five matches of the regular season left. Sarries got their first points on the board inside the first minute as Alistair Hargreaves' charge down earned them a penalty in front of the posts that Hodgson converted. Saracens were camped in London Welsh's half and the visitors were penalised for not ...

Leicester Tigers 25-50 Saracens - Aviva Premiership Rugby Highlights Round 4 | 24-09-11
Six-try Saracens silence Welford Road Charlie Hodgson starred as Saracens crushed under-strength Leicester Tigers 50-25 at Welford Road for a third consecutive win in the defence of their Aviva Premiership Rugby title. Share Hodgson scored a try, three penalties and three conversions, while back-row forward Ernst Joubert claimed two tries as Saracens made light of their own problems with injuries and World Cup absences. Saracens underlined their dominance with a three-try burst early in the first half and had too much power and experience for the hard-working Tigers in what was a one-sided re-match of last season's final. The result leaves Leicester, who were without 16 first-team squad players, with just one win from their opening four matches, while Saracens' third consecutive win came despite having eight of their top players away on World Cup duty. Saracens began the match in ominous fashion, with Hodgson kicking three early penalties to one by Twelvetrees as the visitors opened up a 9-3 lead. Premiership Rugby's all-time top scorer then grabbed a nicely worked try, which he converted to make it 16-3. At that point, Leicester's under-strength side were acquitting themselves well but struggling to cross the advantage line, relying heavily on some smart clearing kicks by young fly-half George Ford to relieve the pressure. Twelvetrees did notch his second penalty just before the half-hour mark, but a sudden rash of missed tackles cost his side dear moments later, as ...

To find out more about Premiership Rugby visit: www.premiershiprugby.com Premiership Rugby on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com England fly-half Owen Farrell kicked 22 points and Charlie Hodgson came off the bench to haunt his former club as Saracens eased to victory against bottom club Sale Sharks in the last-ever Aviva Premiership match to be played at Vicarage Road. Farrell hammered over eight kicks from eight attempts as second-half tries by David Strettle and Hodgson helped move Sarries to a comfortable win. The Sharks remain five points behind London Irish at the foot of the table and only had four Danny Cipriani penalties to show for their efforts. However, the Sharks started the game on the front foot and led within five minutes thanks to Cipriani's penalty. And just after the restart, the fly-half was fortunate when his kick from inside the 22 was charged down by George Kruis only for the ball to bounce over the dead ball line. But Cipriani soon doubled the Sharks' lead when he belted over a terrific penalty from just inside his own half, although Saracens were to halve to deficit through Farrell. Five minutes later, Farrell brought the score level with another penalty, left-of-centre on the 22-metre line, after James Gaskell was penalised for not rolling away. It was all Sarries at this point ...

London Irish 29 v 16 Saracens | Premiership Rugby
Tom Homer kicked 19 points as London Irish gave their Aviva Premiership survival bid a huge boost by inflicting a first defeat in nine games on Saracens. With Sale Sharks beating Exeter Chiefs on Friday night the Exiles were under serious pressure at the wrong end of the Aviva Premiership table heading into their clash with Sarries and they didn't disappoint. Homer's 19 points - plus tries from Shane Geraghty and Ofisa Treviranus - ensured the home side secured just their fourth Aviva Premiership win of the season. Sarries - without the likes of England backs Chris Ashton, Alex Goode and Owen Farrell - saw their points come from David Strettle's try and 11 points from Charlie Hodgson but it was not enough. Sarries drew first blood when Hodgson kicked a three-pointer however it was 3-3 when Homer made a tricky-looking penalty from out wide look easy. Hodgson's first three-pointer wasn't the cleanest of strikes however his second attempt, after Matt Garvey was penalised for crossing, was perfectly struck to put Sarries back ahead. Former England prop Matt Stevens was penalised for a tip-tackle on Halani Aulika on the quarter-hour mark and Homer's penalty once more levelled proceedings. Hodgson blotted his copy book midway through the half when his third penalty attempt was off target Pat Phibbs then wasted a golden chance to score the first try of the game for the Exiles just after the half-hour mark before Homer missed a very kickable penalty minutes later when Sarries ...

Owen Farrell - Saracens | Aviva Premiership Player of the Month
Owen Farrell - Aviva Premiership Player of the Month Owen Farrell is a rugby union player (born 21 September 1991) currently playing for Aviva PremierShip Rugby side Saracens. He is Andy Farrell's son. His primary position is centre, but he often plays flyhalf/centre. He held the record of youngest ever player to appear in English professional rugby union after playing for Saracens 11 days after his 17th birthday, in a 26--17 home defeat against Llanelli Scarlets in the EDF Energy Cup on 5 October 2008,[2] until this record was broken in November 2009 by Leicester's George Ford, the son of another former Rugby League international (Mike Ford). In the 2010--11 season, Farrell signed for Bedford Blues on loan. However, he returned to Saracens and was pivotal in the 2010-11 Aviva Premiership Final kicking five penalties and converting James Short's try for a personal haul of 17 points in the 22-18 victory over reigning champions Leicester Tigers. Saracens 19 v 20 Leicester Tigers - Aviva Premiership Rugby Highlights Round 15 | 19-02-12
The official Youtube channel of Premiership Rugby with exclusive news, match highlights, player profiles and more. Leicester skipper Geordan Murphy ended Saracens' unbeaten home record with a sensational drop-goal with the last kick of a gripping Aviva Premiership Rugby game. Sarries were heading for victory at Vicarage Road when Tigers launched an astonishing 26-phase attack that ended with the Ireland full-back's goal. Saracens' last home defeat was to Exeter - in October 2010, and their overall record over 52 weeks is 32 wins from 36 games. The first set-piece after 58 seconds left Leicester down to 14 players. Lock Ed Slater was sin-binned following a mid-air clash that saw Saracens number eight Jackson Wray fall heavily to the ground. But Alex Goode's penalty attempt drifted just wide of the right hand post. Inspired by Schalk Brits, Saracens took their game to a Leicester side armed with more of their regular Test stars than their hosts. And the pressure told in the 10th minute with Thomas Waldrom penalised for not releasing. It was a simpler kick than his first, but Goode's second penalty attempt rebounded off the upright. Leicester showed how it was done with their first shot at goal, awarded when Goode was tackled and failed to release. Toby Flood made no mistake with a spot-on kick after 12 minutes. Saracens repeated attempts at counter-attacking failed, but then so did Flood's second attempt on goal, a long-range effort after Carlos Nieto blocked Thomas ...

To find out more about Premiership Rugby visit: www.premiershiprugby.com Premiership Rugby on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Andy Goode's right boot proved the difference in the battle of the misfiring kickers as Worcester Warriors eked out a 12-3 Aviva Premiership win against Saracens at Sixways. Goode kicked all of his points in the first half but despite failing to cross the whitewash the Warriors were good value for the win against a Sarries side shorn of many of their big names. The visitors are still unable to call on Chris Ashton, Mouritz Botha, Mako Vunipola, Alex Goode, Brad Barritt and Owen Farrell, who are part of Stuart Lancaster's England squad for the autumn internationals, with Schalk Brits among those also called up for other Test sides. And Nils Mordt, who started at fly-half in the absence of Farrell and the injured Charlie Hodgson, was wayward from the kicking tee all night, finishing one from four before being replaced by Sam Stanley who also missed a penalty that would have at the very least earned Mark McCall's troops a losing bonus point. Saracens went into the game on the back of a four-match Aviva Premiership winning streak while the Warriors had lost three in their last five in the league and after cagey opening stages it was Goode who opened the scoring in the 11th ...
