Failure to report child sexual abuse to become an offence
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has announced a failure to report child sexual abuse will become an offence. This was during a statement on child sexual exploitation and abuse in the House of Commons, after Elon Musk criticised ministers over the grooming gangs scandal.
The prime minister said those "spreading lies" about child sexual abuse are "not interested in victims". Sir Keir also said "a line had been crossed" in the attacks on safeguarding minister Jess Phillips, who Musk labelled a "witch" and "rape genocide apologist". He also attacked the Tories for not calling out the comments, saying too many politicians were "casual about honesty and decency".

Top civil servant quits over alleged ‘vicious’ campaign by Home Secretary
As resignations go, it was incendiary. Civil servants aren't expected to turn on their political masters or effectively describe their bosses as liars.(Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Add to that the fact that the usually faceless Sir Philip Rutman used a Television interview to announce he was quiting and taking his former employers to court. Given that the Prime Minister's senior adviser Dominic Cummings has put the civil service in the cross hairs, has the relationship with the Mandarins now turned malign?

Home secretary Yvette Cooper: Those breaking law 'will pay the price'
Yvette Cooper, the home secretary, has said people engaging in violent disorder "will pay the price".
She said: "Criminal violence and disorder has no place on Britain's streets."
Ms Cooper added: "We've been clear to the police that they have our full backing in taking the strongest possible action against perpetrators, including making sure that there are more prosecutors, there are sufficient prison places and also that the courts stand ready because anyone who engages in this kind of disorder needs to be clear that they will pay the price."

Calls mount for Home Secretary to be held accountable over bullying allegations
"You shouldn't have bullies in government", according to the former top civil servant at the Home Office. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Sir David Normington says Boris Johnson is the first prime minister he can recall who won't stand up for standards in public life.
The former home secretary Ken Clarke and former party chair Baroness Warsi joined a host of former Sir Humphries dismayed that Priti Patel is still in her job.
Downing Street did not deny newspaper claims that the prime minister tried to get Sir Alex Allan to tone down the findings of his report into bullying allegations - before rejecting them and prompting Sir Alex's resignation.
