Ice Fishing for Crappies
Got out and chased some crappies in Northeastern Minnesota this last weekend. We were fishing a deep hole and the fish were suspended at 20'-45'.
Jr's hot tomalley (blood red) was a good lure early on. Later in the day the Lindy Rattl'n flyer (rainbow/glow) produced a good number of fish. Both baits were tipped with two waxies. I also got a chance to watch the new Strikemaster Solo....that thing has some power!

Ice Fishing - Lake of the Woods Ice Fishing Report Video 12-17-12
Welcome back to another edition of the Lake of the Woods Outdoorsman. I just wanted to start this off by thanking everyone that has made this transition in my life possible. We have the ice cabins/sleepers on the big body of water and they are catching fish!
I started off in close to 18' of water, but have settled in 25' just off Adrian's Road, which is about 2 miles past Pine Island. The glow colors have been working great, but with this light bite many have seen success on the plain hook with a bobber on a dead stick. I have talked with resort workers all over the lake and the bite is steady everywhere right now.
Only snowmobile, ATV and resort Tracker traffic are being allowed on the ice roads at this time. I spoke with Brian Ney with Adrian's yesterday, and he said we need some colder weather before they will start letting full size rigs on the ice...he thought it could be a week away, but that is only speculation...pray for cold weather!
Thank you all for paying attention to these humble reports, and as always, Happy Fishing and God Bless!

Couple of things about this video:
Camera I used was Sony HDR-SR11 with Amphibico HD Elite housing.
The Wheelbarrow was saved from the bottom of the lake and I have used it many times after that.
The rubber duck and the balloon are also home with me.
None of the divers got any permanent damage either.
And yes, we had a lot of fun making this video.

Preseleccionado para los Premios Goya 2012.
Sinopsis:

DAVID BERIAIN Director
David Beriain is a Spanish war correspondent that has covered conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Congo, Colombia and Kashmir, among others. He is currently in charge of coordinating the fea- ture section at Medina Media, a production com- pany based out of Spain.
Beriain is one of the few reporters in the world that has managed to infiltrate the FARC guerrilla camps in Colombia. His work there made him a finalist for the Bayeux-Calvados, the most pres- tigious international award for war correspon- dents. He has interviewed the Taliban command- ers who killed Spanish soldiers, met with the twelve-year-old hitmen that Colombian druglords exploit as child soldiers, and even accompanied the American Army on some of their most danger- ous military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. His latest TV documentary took him to Eastern Congo, where he covered the conflict between the Congolese Army and the rebels who fight, kill and rape in order to gain the control of the Coltan and Cassiterite mines.
During his time at Sea Bites, Beriain was in charge of producing the story and coordinating all the members in the team. He was the one who convinced everyone to get on board and as a true leader, he turned a group of people who did not know each other into a real team.

Images Of Western Australia's Kimberley
Sorry guys, this is a bit of a long one. If you start the movie and then read my ramble it should be ready to watch.
I was fortunate enough to be invited aboard possibly the greatest adventure cruise boat in Australia if not the world. The boat for those of you who have not heard of it is the "TRUE NORTH" and it circumnavigates the Australian continent visiting some of the most remote coastline in Australia and also ventures past these waters to many unseen Pacific Island destinations.
"TRUE NORTH" is designed for pure adventure whilst providing a 5 star luxury platform for those hours not spent diving off spectacular coral atolls, catching elusive Barramundi, swimming in pristine waterholes, or taking in a cultural experience first hand.
All these things are achieved by the incredible design of the "True North" with its shallow water ability and possibly the coolest thing ever, the Bell 407 helicopter. I can only speak of my personal experience on the East Kimberley expedition, and from the moment I landed on the heli deck I was in awe of this amazing vessel.
True North cruises effortlessly through the maze of waterways of the Kimberley placing you in the most amazing locations to maximize your experience. For those locations that can only be visited by helicopter True North's skillful pilot Rob would place you precariously on the edge of an amazing waterfall for a picnic lunch like no other or take you to a waterhole full of Barra that have never seen a fisherman.
The icing on the cake for me was the crew of the True North. Without a doubt these guy's and gal's are a credit to the whole experience of adventure, luxury, comfort, and endless excitement. With 1 crew member for every 2 passengers every need was covered and nothing was left wanting.
I have never seen such an awesome place as the Kimberley and I hope you can get a small sense of what it is like to visit here from my video. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and I must thank Mark and Craig for placing their faith in me to capture some amazing footage for them. I hope it can help in spreading the word about this amazing country and this truly unique experience.
"GO WILD IN STYLE" and check the boat for yourself at www.northstarcruises.com.au
For those of you interested more in how this was shot I used the following gear.
2 x Canon 5D MK2, Canon Prime lenses 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 400mm, Miller Tripod, Lee Filter Kit with grads, Fostex field recorder, Rode Mics, (Sorry about the audio in the fishing segment. That was straight from the camera as I wanted to catch a fish so I didn't set up proper sound.)
Edited in Final Cut Pro
Music from "The Rabbit Proof fence" by Peter Gabriel
"The Thin Red Line" by Hans Zimmer
These guys know how to write film scores.
For those of you who are interested check out our website www.christianfletcher.com.au christianfletcher.wordpress.com
Thanks for being patient to wait and watch this. I think it is worth it.

Ice Fishing for Walleye - Lake of the Woods Ice Fishing Report Video 2-13-13
Welcome back to another edition of the Lake of the Woods Outdoorsman. In this episode the Theis boys from Log Cabin Bait and Tackle let me hangout for the afternoon in their fish house in 17' of water just off of Pine Island, and Walleye's back on the menu!
The pink and gold Macho Minnow and the clear fish scale glowing glitter summer jig from JR's Tackle were the hot lures this evening. The fish were not active at all, tons of lookers until about 5 PM...then the light turned on and it was game on. It's fun to be out there when it happens and this year has been tough, but that why I live here in God's Country! If you're fishing off Adrian's Road, checkout the 26-28' foot range...I've heard of more Walleyes being caught in those depths than the deeper 34-36 foot range.
Have a wonderful day and thank you all for the opportunity that you've given me...Happy Fishing and God Bless.

Ice Fishing - Lake of the Woods Ice Fishing Report 1-29-13
Welcome back to another edition of the Lake of the Woods Outdoorsman. In this episode, the Cropduster and I headed north for a few hours of fishing on Sunday afternoon. Thank you to everyone that has visited us this winter, it's truly because of you that we have this opportunity to try and live a life worth living.
What we found on our journey north was many Saugers and a few large Walleyes hanging out in the deep mud off the rock structures. Many of these active fish were just 1-3 inches off the bottom, and many were regurgitating bugs and had beat up bottom lips. I could only imagine those beat up bottom lips came from digging up the bottom for those bugs. During the evening we move onto the rocks and caught a few smaller Walleyes, but had the best success deep.
I hope everyone enjoys the fishing report and the ministry. We are all servants in one way or another, and I am humble and honored to be yours on Lake of the Woods. Happy Fishing and God Bless.
