Think tank predicts 50,000 Romanians and Bulgarians will enter UK 'every year'
Between 30,000 and 70,000 Romanians and Bulgarians will come to live and work in the UK every year from 2014 onwards, according to Alp Mehmet from the think tank Migration Watch UK.
Twenty nine million Romanians and Bulgarians will gain the right to live and work unrestricted in Britain in 2014 under European "freedom of movement" rules.
Despite previous claims by ministers that no estimates on the number of immigrants had been made, Nick Clegg has now conceded that there are "broad" figures that have been seen by the Government.
Mr Mehmet, who spent three years living in Romania as a diplomat, said that it was difficult to put an exact number on the number of immigrants from the two countries, but that Migration Watch believed around 50,000 people a year would arrive until 2019.
"If you compare the relative wealth between us and them, it compares pretty well exactly to the sort of situation we had when the Polish citizens came here after the last enlargement of the EU," he added.
"It will be a mix of people. Some will come here simply looking for a better life, more wages, a better standard of living.
"It would be, I think, odd if human beings were not looking to have a better way of life, have a better existence than they have at the moment.
"Britain is an attractive country, it's a civilised country. Why wouldn't they want to come here?"

The Bulgarians
"The Bulgarians, these are the people, who had everything they wished for. A nation, where the one who buys the nobility with the blood of the enemy receives titles. A nation, where the battle-field brings glory to the family, because for them the nobler is considered the one whose weapon was blood-stained in a battle. They are a nation, to whom before the battle with you, there hasn't been an enemy, who could resist them..."

Отговора на БЪЛГАРИТЕ The Bulgarians reply to England
In an answer for that video
None of the Bulgarian politics had the courage to answer the insults to Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people So... this is done by as, the 16 or 17 year olds awaken patriots. Because we can't ignore the insults to our country for which our grand grandfathers have sacrificed them self's
We can't tolerate this. Bulgaria has 13 centuries history filled with great doings.
So. You say that the minimal wage in Bulgaria is 200 Euros?
But why don't we remember Dojran when 3000 Bulgarian soldiers defeated and killed more than 20,000 Englishman.
WHY?!
You say that the minimal pension is 100 euros
But why don't you say that we are a country why has been under Ottoman rule for 5 centuries AND we kept all our traditions, habits, and holydays
WHY?!
You say "if I was Bulgarian" dear Briton
If you were Bulgarian you would have known that love for the motherland is important
It is NOT of importance what the minimal wage is.
If you were Bulgarian you would have known what is to have 1,300 years of glorious history
Filled with greatness, pangs, tragedies and wins, what do you have? 2000 $ paycheck?
Maybe you have just this
We Bulgarians that live on the poverty threshold love Bulgaria more than every penny you get from "servicing" someone.
You say "if I was Bulgarian I would have packed my bags"
If you WERE Bulgarian and knew that the lands you walk were walked by your father, grandfather, grand grandfather.
If you knew that this poor for you Bulgaria was of 3 seas
if you knew that here thousands known and unknown fighters gave their lives and paid with their blood So that you can call yourself "Bulgarian" calmly
Would you run from Bulgaria for money because we would never
We love our country dear Briton
We love our Flag
We know 1,300 history, what do you know?
Oh yeah be happy with your money you have. We don't give a ***
We are richer, always have been. We have history in it our people gave their lives.
BULGARIA OVER EVERYTHING !!!
For Bulgaria if it is necessary we will give our lives too
So don't insult a country, don't think we are stupid by just looking at the paychecks
In Bulgaria people are richer than all Englishman
This was only a small part of the things we could share with you
Bulgaria is here for 1300 years will be for a lot more 13,300

Bulgarians March In Protest of High Electricity Prices 2-17-2013
2/17/2013 In Varna tens of thousands of Bulgarians protested in more than 20 cities against high electricity bills on Sunday, piling pressure on the government after a week of persistent demonstrations.
Protesters chanting "It will be the same every day until we win," paralysed city centres and demanded the resignation of the cabinet and the re-nationalisation of power distributors. Electricity prices are politically sensitive in the European Union's poorest member since power bills bite off a big chunk of monthly incomes, especially during the winter.
Demonstrators threw eggs, bottles and fruit, burned their electricity bills and attacked the offices of power firms in five cities. More than 2,000 people blocked the highway to Greece near the southern town of Dupnitsa. In the capital Sofia, protesters blocked traffic on the famous Eagles' Bridge and along several main roads.
"We cannot stand it anymore," said Penka Slavova, a pensioner. "My pension is 155 levs (82€) and my December bill was 175 (89.5€) levs. What should I do?"
Local media reported that protesters, including women and children, clashed with police when trying to reach the headquarters of Czech firm CEZ which supplies power to Sofia and northwestern Bulgaria.
Monthly pay averages 400 euros, just a fraction of the EU norm, while the average monthly pension is 131.5€ ($176).
The government has said it will look into the issue of rising electricity bills, but Finance Minister Simeon Djankov on Wednesday ruled out the re-nationalisation of power firms."There is no such possibility and I don't think any European Union member can afford to talk about nationalisation," Djankov told the state television BNT.

Great Britain is happy with everybody to come, except with Romanians and Bulgarians. Great Britain is afraid of massive invasion of these nations to the UK. Brits think they will take their jobs.

An American in Bulgaria
I recently traveled from Atlanta, GA to Sofia, Bulgaria (and all over the country) to visit my boyfriend's family and experience a new culture. It was an amazing trip, and I loved every minute of it. The Bulgarian food, culture, music, nature, and people impressed me more than I could ever have imagined.
PS. Any Bulgarians who might watch this: if you know of ANY reliable source for me to learn and become fluent in Bulgarian, please let me know. I will be eternally grateful. :)

Bulgarians protest over hike in electricity bills
http://www.euronews.com/ High electricity bills brought hundreds of people onto the streets of several Bulgarian cities to protest on Sunday.
In the capital Sofia banners read "mafia", "resign", and "no to legalised racketeering".
Prices went up by 13 per cent last July but it has taken the cold winter for the impact to be felt.
There is anger at the influence of foreign companies. Bulgaria's power distribution market is divided into three regions, controlled by Czech firms CEZ and Energo-Pro, and Austria's EVN.
"We want all these electricity distributors to disappear from Bulgaria. They continue milking us, ordinary people, with the support of the state," said protester Yanko Petrov.
Two EVN cars were burnt overnight, the company said, condemning the attack.
The Energy Minister Delyan Dobrev explained that some bills were higher because they covered a longer period than usual, to take in the Christmas holidays.
But when he came out of the ministry to try to talk to demonstrators, he was hit by a snowball from the crowd.
The ministry has ordered checks on the higher bills, while power distributors also say they are investigating complaints.
Electricity prices are politically sensitive in Bulgaria since power bills eat into a large part of people's incomes, where pay averages 350 euros a month.

'Bulgarians are already the poorest EU citizens'
The major political parties in Bulgaria have arrived at a critical juncture. During their congresses, they drew the line ahead of anticipated general elections in 2013.
In the past decade alone, Bulgaria has had 3 types of governments. First, the centrist government of the former King who returned from exile to become a Prime Minister.
Then the left-wing, socialist government of Sergei Stanishev. And now - the right-wing, conservative government of Boiko Borisov.
The past 3 years of Premier Borisov are "a lost time", according to his emerging rivals. Reminiscence of the King's former party, they are led by the country's first EU Commissioner - Meglena Kuneva - and are calling themselves "Bulgaria-for-Citizens".
Boiko Borisov's ruling party fought back.
Those were blamed on the former Prime Minister, who was recently elected President of all European socialists, and is planning a come-back in charge of the country.
With average pensions of 150 euros and average salary of 350 euros - Bulgarians are already the poorest EU citizens, statistics reveal. But instead of coming up with growth platforms to change this, officials are "locked" in political bickering. This has led citizens to a dead-end, desperate and indifferent, experts say.

Bulgaria tells Britain to stop 'scapegoating'
Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Nicolay Mladenov has told Al Jazeera he believes British politicians are singling out his country in the UK immigration debate. EU restrictions are due to be abolished next year, and some members of British parliament have said it will open the floodgates for Bulgarian workers. But many Bulgarians said they are happy to stay in their home country, and scoffed at allegations that they are out to exploit Britain's social services. Al Jazeera's Tim Friend reports from Sofia.
