Bow Down is the debut album by American gangsta rap group Westside Connection, released on October 22, 1996 through Ice Cube's Lench Mob/Priority Records. It featured production from Bud'da, QDIII and Ice Cube among other producers.
The album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 on November 9, 1996, shipping 145,000 units. It went on to sell 1.7 million copies, certifying it platinum by RIAA on October 1, 1997. The songs King of the Hill, Cross 'Em Out and Put a 'K, and Hoo Bangin' (WSCG Style) are all disses to the rap group Cypress Hill.[citation needed]
The album generally received positive reviews from most music critics and fans with the exception of Robert Christgau and Entertainment Weekly.
Westside Connection was an American gangsta rap supergroup formed by Ice Cube, WC and Mack 10. The group's debut album, Bow Down, reached the number 2 position on the Billboard 200 in 1996, going platinum that year.
Westside Connection began performing together in 1994, appearing on Mack 10's self-titled debut album, Mack 10, on the song "Westside Slaughterhouse". A few months later, the group again joined forces, this time appearing on WC's album, Curb Servin', on the song "West Up!". Around this time the group began working on their debut album, Bow Down, which was released October 22, 1996.
Individually, Ice Cube, DUBC and Mack 10 continued working on solo projects in between group albums. Together, as Westside Connection, they produced several songs released on film soundtracks and compilations including "Bangin'" (from West Coast Bad Boyz II), "Let It Reign" (from Thicker than Water) and "It's The Holidaze" (from Friday After Next).
On December 9, 2003 the group released their second album Terrorist Threats, hallmarked by the lead single "Gangsta Nation" Produced by Fredwreck and featuring Nate Dogg.
Ice cubes are small, roughly cube-shaped pieces of ice, conventionally used to cool beverages. Ice cubes are sometimes preferred over crushed ice because they melt more slowly; they are standard in mixed drinks that call for ice, in which case the drink is said to be "on the rocks."
Ice cubes that are crushed or sheared into irregularly-shaped flakes may add an interesting aesthetic effect to some cocktails. Crushed ice is also used when faster cooling is desired, since the rate of cooling is governed by the number and average radius of the ice particles.
Melting ice cubes sometimes precipitate white flakes, commonly known as "floaties". This is calcium carbonate which is present in many water supplies and is completely harmless.[citation needed]
American physician and humanitarian John Gorrie built a refrigerator in 1844 with the purpose of cooling air. His refrigerator produced ice which he hung from the ceiling in a basin. Gorrie can be considered the creator of ice cubes, but his aim was not to cool drinks: he used the ice to lower the ambient room temperature. During his time, a dominant idea was that bad air quality caused disease. Therefore, in order to help treat sickness, he pushed for the draining of swamps and the cooling of sickrooms.
Paul Morton (May 22, 1857 – February 19, 1911) was a U.S. businessman, and served as the 36th Secretary of the Navy under Theodore Roosevelt.
He served as the Secretary of Navy between 1904 and 1905. Previous to this, he had been vice president of the Santa Fe Railroad. When it came to light that the Santa Fe had given illegal rebates under Morton, he was forced out of the cabinet to avoid scandal, though Roosevelt maintained that Morton himself was unaware of the improprieties. After leaving government service, Morton was President of Equitable Life Assurance Society.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, and growing up in Nebraska City, Nebraska, he was the younger brother of Joy Morton, founder of Morton Salt, and the son of pro-slavery racist Julius Sterling Morton, who had served as Secretary of Agriculture under President Grover Cleveland. Though his father was a "Bourbon" (i.e. conservative) Democrat, Paul Morton was a Progressive Republican. This shift of party by father/son cabinet secretaries is paralleled by that of Henry Cantwell Wallace, who served as a Progressive Republican Secretary of Agriculture under Harding and Coolidge, and his son Henry A. Wallace who served in the same office as a Democrat under Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Thomas Carlyle "Tom" Ford (born August 27, 1961) is an American fashion designer and film director. He gained international fame for his turnaround of the Gucci fashion house and the creation of the Tom Ford label before directing the Oscar-nominated film A Single Man.
Tom Ford was born August 27, 1961 in Austin, Texas, to realtors Tom Ford and Shirley Burton. He spent his early life in the suburbs of Houston, Texas, and in San Marcos, outside Austin; his family moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, when he was 11. In Santa Fe, he entered St. Michael's High School and later moved to Santa Fe Preparatory School, from which he graduated in 1979. Ford left Santa Fe at age 16, when he enrolled at Bard College at Simon's Rock, but quickly dropped out.[citation needed] He then moved to New York City to study art history at New York University.
Ford dropped out of NYU after only a year, preferring to concentrate on acting in television commercials; at one time, he was in 12 national advertising campaigns simultaneously. Ford then began studying interior architecture at The New School's famous art and design college, Parsons The New School for Design. During his time in New York, Ford became a fixture at the legendary nightclub Studio 54, where he realized he was gay. The club's disco-era glamor would be a major influence on his later designs. Before his last year at New School, Ford spent a year and a half in Paris, where he worked as an intern in Chloé's press office. Though his work primarily involved sending clothes out on photo shoots, it triggered his love of fashion. He spent his final year at The New School studying fashion, but nonetheless graduated with a degree in architecture.

Slow down Bow Down Bow Down slow down Bow Down

Making lame excuses for their greed while that

And the Whalers now still killing whales and old
growth bush still being raped
And I know we will have busy lives but sing along
if you have the time
Bow Down to your God
but don't forget about the earth
place your hand on a tree
Who's helping your breath
Give thanks to the sun
when you open your lungs
Throw your buts in the bin
help the old turtles swim
Selling tourism on sacred land while the local
mob sit on their hands
if what I'm speaking here makes any sense open
up my friend and jump the fence
Bow Down to your God
but don't forget about the earth
place your hand on a tree
Who's helping your breath
Give thanks to the sun
when you open your lungs
Throw your buts in the bin
help the old turtles swim

[ICE CUBE--Spoken]
(Yea lemme tell you sumthin)
(gangsta's make the world go round)
(you aint gotta clown)
(But if you livin on tha WEST SIDE of yo town)
Use Disney masks to hide the grins
Of unseen rulers than never wince,
No need to care for disposable staff,
Human rights once more deep in the ass.
Exploitation, power abuse, alienation
Mind control, deception, illusion,
Money, despair, profit,
Greed, lies, scorn.
Never forget when you go to these places,
That humans behind mask are force-fed with rules,
Just smile all the time otherwise shut up,
Mother, Father, I think that I would rather
Stay at home with you for another year
That building's so tall and it makes me feel so small
That I might get lost and simply disappear
Evil smiles won't change my mind
I'm worried and I'm not the worrying kind
Why's that man rubbing his hands
Looking at me, writing down his plans ?
Today I have been molding plasticine
And I made a little man who looked just like me
His limbs were so weak
And he couldn't move his mouth to speak
And I could bent him into any shape I wanted him to be
Evil smiles won't change my mind
I'm worried and I'm not a the worrying kind
Why's that man rubbing his hands
Looking at me, writing down his plans ?
Those kids with the blazers on
They went in with names on their elbows
Came home with medals on
Spit it out that's way the story goes
A flying start for the briefcase crew
Oh, you didn't have to teach me like you did
But you did
Oh, you didn't have to beat me like you did
But you did, but you did, but you did
But you did, but you did
You did
You did
You did
Fucking bow down
You were the price of the killing
While we were waiting on the other side
The other ones were just standing out
But we were playing on the other side
You can lose your eyes
Forget what you have seen
Bless us all
They are guilty
Bring back what is yours
We tried to escape
But you still waste
Waste away
Nothing remains
Nothing is safe
No mistakes
You can't take away
What you've given away
You were the price of the killing
Mere Christianity
In this insanity
For vanity
You`d get killed like Kennedy
The only remedy
Is the door out the back
But you lack
Self-respect and that`s that
The one thing that bothers me
Is that my brothers see
Emptiness don`t even know
Who they fathers be
Others feel
But suffocate in they hate
Don`t be ashamed
It`s just a little faith
I can`t go on like this it makes me wanna scream loud
I can`t go on like this I want to be more real now
I can`t go on like this it`s time for you to bow down
I seem to be so strong but only if you hear me out
Never gonna go back
Know that
Everything I`ve done
I`ve done for the payback
So lay that down
Take a look around
And know what it`s all about
When I shout
I don`t wanna be like this
Or feel like this
Never gonna go there again
It`s a hit-and-miss
Believe in this
No there ain`t no regrets
But if I can
I`ma leave this mess
Hear me out
I can`t go on like this
Van Gogh lent me his ear
Now the picture is clear
I can finally hear
Girls, they grow like the weeds
We're replaceable beings
Just tell her what you told me
Over-indulge, hit the spot
Take too much, take some more
Let habits form, praise the Lord
Give me more, don't get bored
Bow down to the mass
Fill in the gap, fill the hole in your head
Bow down to the mass
Fill in the gap, fill the hole in your head
How insane would I be
If you fed on me
And I found sanctity?
Bless this body, received
If I say the right things
Will you pretend to love me?
Over-indulge, hit the spot
Take too much, take some more
Let habits form, praise the Lord
Give me more, don't get bored
Bow down to the mass
Fill in the gap, fill the hole in your head
Bow down to the mass
Fill in the gap, fill the hole in your head
Bow down to the mass
Fill in the gap, fill the hole in your head
Bow down to the mass
Fill in the gap, fill the hole in your head
Bow down to the mass
Fill in the gap, fill the hole in your head
Bow down to the mass
Bow Down
Performed by: Muneer and Bassem
Written by: Gaith Adhami
Chorus:
Bow down to The One
He who holds my soul
Lord of the moon and sun
Always givin' me more
Bow down to The King
Majestic, most sublime
He keeps on forgiving
Time after time
Everyday I strive
To keep my heart alive
And every dawn I rise
To help my soul revive
(Chorus)
When the moon slowly falls
And my heart quietly calls
This deep prayer of mine
Seeking for the Divine
You opened my mail
Apart at the seams
Now you know I live beyond my means
Beneath my bed
There's gold in the earth
Above the price
That gold is now worth
Never to Bow Down
Don't you ever slow down
