Brian R. Sabean (born July 1, 1956), as of 2015, is the executive vice president of baseball operations of the San Francisco Giants. He served as the team's general manager from 1997 to 2015. He succeeded general manager Bob Quinn. The Giants had a winning record in thirteen of the eighteen seasons in which Sabean served as general manager. Prior to his tenure, the team had suffered losing seasons in five out of six years. He is a native of Concord, New Hampshire.
Sabean's 18 years as the Giants' general manager is the longest run by a general manager in the club's history, surpassing Spec Richardson (seven seasons, 1975–81), Al Rosen (seven seasons, 1986–92) and Tom Haller (five seasons, 1981–85). Sabean had the longest tenure with the same club among active general managers. During his tenure, the Giants won three World Series (2010, 2012, and 2014), four National League pennants (2002, 2010, 2012, and 2014), five National League West Division flags (1997, 2000, 2003, 2010, and 2012), two National League Wild Cards (2002, 2014), and forced a National League Wild Card tie-breaker game with Chicago in 1998. On two other occasions, the club was eliminated from post season contention on the last day of the season. He has guided the club to seven post season berths—the club's most since it made eight appearances in a 14-season span from 1911 to 1924. From 1997 to 2014, the Giants recorded the third-best winning percentage in the National League (.534, 1,556–1,358), behind only the Braves and Cardinals. His .534 career winning percentage ranks 10th all-time among all general managers since 1950 who served at least 10 years.
San Francisco (/sæn frənˈsɪskoʊ/), officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California and the only consolidated city-county in California. San Francisco encompasses a land area of about 46.9 square miles (121 km2) on the northern end of the San Francisco Peninsula, which makes it the smallest county in the state. It has a density of about 18,187 people per square mile (7,022 people per km2), making it the most densely settled large city (population greater than 200,000) in the state of California and the second-most densely populated major city in the United States after New York City. San Francisco is the fourth-most populous city in California, after Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose, and the 13th-most populous city in the United States—with a Census-estimated 2014 population of 852,469. The city and its surrounding areas are known as the San Francisco Bay Area, and are a part of the larger OMB designated San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland combined statistical area, the fifth most populous in the nation with an estimated population of 8.6 million.
The San Francisco Giants are an American professional baseball franchise based in San Francisco, California. Originally known as the New York Gothams, the team moved to San Francisco in 1958. The Giants compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the National League (NL) West division.
As one of the longest-established professional baseball teams, the franchise has won the most games of any team in the history of American baseball, and any North American professional sports team. The team was the first major league team based in New York City, most memorably playing at the legendary Polo Grounds. They have won 23 NL pennants and appeared in 20 World Series competitions – both NL records. The Giants' eight World Series championships rank second in the National League and are tied for fourth overall (New York Yankees are first with 27, then the St. Louis Cardinals with 11, the Oakland Athletics with 9, and the Boston Red Sox also with 8). The Giants have played in the World Series 20 times (14 times in New York, six in San Francisco) but boycotted the event in 1904.
Bruce Douglas Bochy (/ˈboʊtʃi/; born April 16, 1955) is the manager of the San Francisco Giants. Prior to joining the Giants for the 2007 season, Bochy was the manager of the San Diego Padres for twelve seasons. He has led the Giants to three World Series Championships, and also led the Padres to one World Series appearance during his tenure in San Diego.
Bochy is the only former Padres player to serve as the team's manager. He has participated in all five postseason appearances in Padres history, as a backup catcher in 1984 and as their manager in 1996, 1998, 2005, and 2006. In 1998, he led the Padres to their first National League pennant in 14 years; they lost the 1998 World Series to the New York Yankees.
He reached the World Series for a second time as a manager in 2010 with the Giants, this time in a winning effort over the Texas Rangers, and brought the first ever World Series Championship home to the city of San Francisco. It was the first for the Giants franchise since 1954. Bochy returned to the World Series for the third time in 2012, also with the Giants, who won over the Detroit Tigers in a 4-game sweep. He reached the World Series a fourth time in 2014, and managed his third World Championship in 5 years, this time leading the Giants over the Kansas City Royals in seven games.

Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy chat with four bloggers (Bay Area Sports Guy, Crazy Crabbers, Giants Nirvana and SF Giants Rumors) during San Francisco Giants Media Day.
Willie leads of questioning about a recent Dodger signing that Ned Coletti had never seen, and then asks Sabean about the possibility of Brian Wilson coming back, as Bruce Bochy mentioned that he thought it was possible. Sabean essentially shut the door on his return, saying that Wilson's camp is trying to get a large contract, while the Giants are seeking an incentive-based contract, and he doesn't see it working out. They are in constant touch, as the Giants are still in charge of Wilson's rehab.

That very afternoon Timmy Lincecum delivered his second no-hitter, which got things off on a high note. Beach Blanket Babylon's Tammy Nelson, wearing the Giants ballpark hat, belted out a rousing "San Francisco" with an introduction tailor-made for the guys on-stage. And the smell of hotdogs, beer and garlic fries dominated the atrium. It was an unforgettable and fitting Giants love-fest.
