The Lines are a four-piece indie rock band from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England who are signed to Amboy Road Records, although previously had released their debut single on Weekender records in February 2008.The band members are Dean Bate (Lead Guitar), Dave O'Connor (Drums and Samples), Alex Ohm (Vocals and Guitar) and Danny Pease (Bass Guitar).
The Lines formed in 2006 with lifetime school friends Dean Bate and Alex Ohm. Following a few early line up changes, drummer Ryan Edwards joined in January 2007 and completed the groups most successful line. The Lines released their debut single 'Domino Effect' on Weekender Records on February 25, 2008, and achieved number ten in the UK Charts. Edwards left the group in late 2008 as he felt he needed a career change from music, Chris Titley also left the band due to 'personal reasons', and was quickly replaced by Danny Pease.
The Lines achieved various support slots between 2006-2008 which have included The Killers, Editors, The Maccabees, The Twang, The Charlatans, Babyshambles, Jack Peñate, Supergrass, Ian Brown Good Shoes. They also headlined at Birmingham ArtsFest and the Bang Music Festival at Donington Park, in front of 80,000 people.
On February 11, 2008, lead singer and guitarist Alex Ohm performed an acoustic version of their debut single during the half-time at the Wolverhampton Wanderers versus Stoke City Championship football match to more than 25,000 people. During early 2008, the Lines toured the UK in support of Little Man Tate (band), at concerts throughout & after the tour Little Man Tate (band) have claimed The Lines blew them off the stage every night, and were said to be the best band in the UK. The Lines staged concerts of their own, including sell-out shows at local Wolverhampton venues Little Civic, Civic Bar and, on February 23, 2008, the 1,200 capacity Wulfrun Hall.
The band have been compared to The Verve.
In April 2010 the latest line up of the band signed to Independent Record Label; Amboy Road Records Ltd for the release of their debut album, due out on October 11, 2010, this will be supported by a 16 date UK tour with the album launch held at a hometown gig at Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall on October 8, 2010. The first single from the album is Glorious Aftermath available as a digital download from the August 22, 2010.
