World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

At a nutrition centre in Mogadishu, mothers learn how to ward off malnutrition in their children while receiving fortified foods from the World Food Programme. In a country like Somalia, which suffers from some of the highest child malnutrition rates in the world, it's important for mothers to understand how vitamins and minerals are key to keeping their children healthy.

Ten years after families from Iraq began fleeing to Syria to escape the conflict in their country, families from Syria have now come to the Domiz camp in Iraq in search of food and safety. WFP is providing food vouchers to some 30,000 families at the camp, which allow them to buy fresh meat and vegetables at local shops.

A series of food assistance projects in northeastern Afghanistan are helping to teach women how to read and write as well as grow fresh vegetables they can sell on the local market. As an extra incentive to take part in the project, the women are provided food rations by WFP.
