Himalayas - World's largest mountain range
The Himalaya Range or Himalayas for short, is a mountain range in Asia, separating the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau. By extension, it is also the name of a massive mountain system that includes the Karakoram, the Hindu Kush, and other, lesser, ranges that extend out from the Pamir Knot. Together, the Himalayan mountain system is the planet's highest and home to the world's highest peaks, the Eight-thousanders, which include Mount Everest and K2. To comprehend the enormous scale of this mountain range, consider that Aconcagua, in the Andes, at 6,962 metres (22,841 ft) is the highest peak outside Asia, whereas the Himalayan system includes over 100 mountains exceeding 7,200 m (23,622 ft).

The Andes: World's Longest Mountain Range
Tucked away in the high reaches of the Andes mountains, along the border between Bolivia and Peru, lies one of the highest regions inhabited by people anywhere in the world. Here in the "altiplano" farmers raise sheep, llamas and alpacas, as they have for thousands of years. But unlike most farmlands, the altiplano is surrounded by jagged mountains, volcanic peaks that drop steeply down to deserts in some places, to rain forests in others, and on the western side, to a deep trench of the Pacific Ocean.
The Andes are the longest mountain range in the world, stretching 7,250 kilometers (4,200 miles) down the southern half of the world. The Andes run north to the warm equator, and stretch south towards Cape Horn and Patagonia, a windy, cold, semi-desert where the winter temperatures stay below freezing. The southern tip of the Andes is not far from Antartica, home of the south pole!
The name "Andes" comes from a native word whose meaning is unkown today. The tallest peak is Mt. Aconcagua, a giant volcano towering 6,959 meters (22,831 feet) above sea level. The Andes mountains have been formed by one of the crustal plates of the Pacific ocean floor pushing slowly against the American continental plate. This pressure has caused the sedimentary rocks to bend and fold up into long ridges, called "sierras." Where the sedimentary rocks cracked, molten granite and igneous rocks erupted from below as volcanoes, caused by the oceanic plate melting from the friction and exploding to the surface.
Most of the highest mountains in the Andes are volcanoes, some still active, many dormant or extinct. Eruptions and strong earthquakes can cause landslides on the steep slopes. Rich minerals formed here include gold, silver, tin, copper, platinum, lead, and zinc.
From Lake Titicaca, the highest lake in the world, to Machu Picchu, the most famous Inca ruin in South America, the Andes Mountains are a precious treasure that we all should plan to visit in our lives.

The Himalaya Range or Himalaya Mountains
The Himalaya Range or Himalaya Mountains (play /ˌhɪməˈleɪ.ə/ or /hɪˈmɑːləjə/;[1][2] Sanskrit: Devanagari: हिमालय, literally "abode of snow"), usually called the Himalayas or Himalaya for short, is a mountain range immediately at the north of the Indian subcontinent. By extension, it is also the name of a massive mountain system that includes the Karakoram, the Hindu Kush, and other, lesser, ranges that extend out from the Pamir Knot.
Together, the Himalayan mountain system is the world's highest, and home to the world's highest peaks, the Eight-thousanders, which include Mount Everest and K2. To comprehend the enormous scale of this mountain range, consider that Aconcagua, in the Andes, at 6,962 metres (22,841 ft) is the highest peak outside Asia, whereas the Himalayan system includes over 100 mountains exceeding 7,200 m (23,600 ft).[3] However the Alleghenian mountains, formed during the formation of Pangaea, likely rivalled or exceeded the Himalayas in height.[4]
The main Himalayan range runs west to east, from the Indus river valley to the Brahmaputra river valley, forming an arc 2,400 km (1,500 mi) long, which varies in width from 400 km (250 mi) in the western Kashmir-Xinjiang region to 150 km (93 mi) in the eastern Tibet-Arunachal Pradesh region. The range consists of three coextensive sub-ranges, with the northernmost, and highest, known as the Great or Inner Himalayas. Some of the world's major river systems arise in the Himalayas, and their combined drainage basin is home to some 3 billion people (almost half of Earth's population) in 18 countries. The Himalayas have profoundly shaped the cultures of South Asia; many Himalayan peaks are sacred in Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism.
Geologically, the origin of the Himalayas is the impact of the Indian tectonic plate traveling northward at 15 cm per year to impact the Eurasian continent, with first contact about 70 million years ago, and with movement continuing today. The formation of the Himalayan arc peaks eventually resulted from this, since the lighter rock of the seabeds of that time were easily uplifted into mountains. An often-cited fact used to illustrate this process is that the summit of Mount Everest is made of marine limestone.[5]

What a great morning of flying with Nick Blizzard here in Central Oregon. Took off near Mt Bachelor and enjoyed our time over Sparks Lake, Broken Top, Todd Lake, Green Lakes, South Sister and the Cascade Mountain range.
While it looks cold, it's like any other sport. If you plan for it, dressing properly, then you'll have a blast. Great shots of the mountains, ice crystals and flying between the trees.
I can always use more flying buddies. If anybody is interested in meeting up or getting started in the sport of powered paragliding, just drop me a line. More information, photos and videos can be found on Byron's website at http://www.ppgfun.com
Video taken with GoPro Hero2
Settings were 720p/60fps
Edited on Final Cut Pro X at 23.98fps after optimizing media upon import. I was then able to take advantage of Conform Speed effects in FCPX dropping the speed to 40% without effecting image quality.

======================
Many have asked about entering the sport, training, equipment, etc... Hope the following info helps.
Proper training...
Don't try learning on your own from watching a few videos.
Don't do a half day, 1 day or 3 day training.
Real training is a good 6-9 days and usually runs just over $2k.
If you find an instructor who will have you flying after the first day, run away. You should be on the ground for the first 3-5 days learning nothing but glider control. Only after you can control your wing with your eyes closed, then and only then should you add a motor. Yup, you will be flying and you want to be properly trained.
As for equipment, I'm happy to share what I fly and why. Like any sport, you have options. There is cheap equipment, equipment that lacks safety and higher end cadillac equipment. At the end of the day, I'm happy to fly with anybody who wants to fly regardless of choice. I personally fly the same units that Red Bull has chosen for their own team.
As for equipment cost...
For what I fly, you can get into the sport on a good used setup for $7k-9k or $12k-$13k new which includes your motor, wing and reserve. Can't beat that price for personal flight. Best thing is it all packs up as small as 22x22x33 inches and fits in the trunk of your car if needed.

Snowmobile Trip to Laramie, WY. Snowy Mountain Range Jan. 2013
Some footage of a sled trip with a bunch of buddies. Most of it is filmed near Centennial, WY the second week of January. The snow wasnt the best, but still beats working. Couple of the crazy bastards made new lines up the Widow Maker. The sleds are Arctic Cat M8's and one M1000. The green sled is running a boondocker turbo.
I do not own the music in this video.

Mountain Range creates evolving, melancholic 'beatscape' music to deliver an unique and vibrant live show.
'Leeds producer Stuart Thomas blends organic percussion with a breathtaking, kaleidoscope backdrop of warm, evolving synthetics, to help produce what might be the most beautiful set of early works DIY has set it's ears on for some time. Strictly, one could class this as ambient music, but it has a modern-day edge that turns it into a more accessible being.... If Thomas' work gets any prettier, we might have to pinch ourselves to check we're not dreaming' - DIY: First On' by Jamie Milton.
'Mountain Range's music ticks the instrumental box, but is a construction of uplifting piano keys and strange, biting percussive experimentation, the work of someone genuinely talented' - 'Music Fans Mic'

Longest mountain range on the planet - Andes - The Dragon's back - Nature
With glaciers marking its tip, active volcanoes running along its spine, snow-capped peaks rising high above its range, both wet and dry tropical rainforests within its interior, and desert, lowland savanna and alpine tundra in between, the Andes is an extraordinary world of diverse terrain, extreme temperatures and multifarious wildlife. Rising out of the Pacific Coast, this high mountain range is 5,000 miles long, extending over seven countries between Tierra del Fuego in the extreme south to the Caribbean coast in the north.
Once the realm of the ancient Incan Empire, this place of myth and legend also has a rich, intriguing natural history going back to the Jurassic period, marked by an event of monumental portion—the formation of the Central American land bridge 3 million years ago. The creatures of the Andes set this land apart from all other places on earth. The Andes are home to the zorro, a "false fox" with adaptations that make it a successful inhabitant of the Andes. The flamingo, too, has developed utterly unique and specialized adaptations in order to thrive in an environment that doesn't even seem livable—a salt pan.
Only a mountain range of extremes could harbor such a rich and diverse variety of life forms. Here you will find some of the highest, saltiest, wettest and driest terrains on the planet. Penguins, opossums, hummingbirds, llamas, pumas, foxes, condors, spectacled bears and many more have all managed to carve out an existence somewhere in one of the many worlds that we call the Andes.

Ozark Mountain Daredevils - Mountain Range
Lyrics & Information
Taken from their 'Men From Earth' album. This song is purely magical. It transports one straight to the great Rocky Mountains or somewhere in Colorado. I love America! They sure knew how to make their music speak.
Lyrics :-
(Guitars & Bass Intro)
Walking down the road
Rocks fly at my feet
I let myself explode
And wake you from your sleep
And the flowers are blooming
In the mountain range
Lay down what you're doing
The season is in change
And my mind is made up
To learn all the dances
before my body's laid up
And the night advances
And the time is here
And the time is here
And the time is here
o-o-o-oh
(Acoustic guitar pickin')
(Oboe Solo)
(ahh, ahh, ahh, ahh)
(ahh, ahh, ahh, ahh)
(ahh, ahh, ahh, ahh)
(ahh, ahh, ahh, ahh)
(End - Acoustic guitar pickin')
