Rickey Green (born August 18, 1954) is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the NBA.
Green, a 6'0" (1.83 m) and 170 lb (77 kg) point guard, led Chicago's Hirsch High School to the 1973 IHSA Class AA State championship. He then played college basketball at Vincennes University and the University of Michigan; at the latter school, his team lost to the undefeated Big Ten Conference rival Indiana Hoosiers in the championship game of the 1976 NCAA Tournament. Green was selected with the 16th pick in the 1977 NBA Draft, and competed in 14 seasons, playing for the Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Boston Celtics. His highlight season was in 1982-83 with the Utah Jazz, when he averaged 14.3 points, 8.9 assists and 2.82 steals per game, and represented them the following year in the 1984 NBA All-Star Game. He retired in 1992 with NBA career totals of 8,870 points and 5,221 assists in 946 games. In 1982, as a member of the Utah Jazz, Green scored the five millionth point in NBA history.
Green is the color between blue and yellow on the spectrum of visible light. It is evoked by light with a predominant wavelength of roughly 495–570 nm. In the subtractive color system, used in painting and color printing, it is created by a combination of yellow and blue, or yellow and cyan; in the RGB color model, used on television and computer screens, it is one of the additive primary colors, along with red and blue, which are mixed in different combinations to create all other colors.
The modern English word green comes from the Middle English and Anglo-Saxon word grene, from the same Germanic root as the words "grass" and "grow". It is the color of living grass and leaves and as a result is the color most associated with springtime, growth and nature. By far the largest contributor to green in nature is chlorophyll, the chemical by which plants photosynthesize and convert sunlight into chemical energy. Many creatures have adapted to their green environments by taking on a green hue themselves as camouflage. Several minerals have a green color, including the emerald, which is colored green by its chromium content.
All-star (also stylized as All-Star) is a term designating an individual as having a high level of performance in their field. Originating in sports, it has since drifted into vernacular and been borrowed heavily by the entertainment industry. It can also be used for a group of individuals, who are popular in certain areas.
"All-star" as a sports term refers to individual players named to an "all-star" roster or team representing the top performers during and before the end of a season in a given sport, or to a list of top participants who played in individual sports such as golf and bowling. Events limited to such honorees are referred to as "all-star games" or events.
In American team sports the premier all-star games are the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, NBA All-Star Game, Pro Bowl, NHL All-Star Game, and the MLS All-Star Game. Many all-star teams, such as collegiate "all-conference" and All-America squads, are recognitions of performance only, without the connotation of those selected ever being teammates in a game.

Life ain't easy as a lefty. Awkward elbow bumps at dinner table parties. Scissors never really work quite right. You receive fail marks in calligraphy class because you're constantly smearing as you write. And most importantly, getting golf gear is a pain. I recently started teaching myself to play left handed because i've developed back issues swinging from my dominant side. So it was a crash introduction into what life is like for Lefty golfers. Now I don't know about you, but when i watch a pro golf broadcast i'm imagining myself in their shoes. Part of the fun I get from watching is simply seeing what situations the pros get into, and wondering and asking myself what I would do in that situation. I feel there's a real solid learning opportunity in seeing how the pro golfers ...
(For Tom O. and Kurt V.)
Play me like a player piano
roll me from the cornersof your dark and dusty shadows
Like a player piano,
I sit useless
most of the time
The bar gets darker
it swallows up the scarlet
The barkeep’s looking thin
We sit together
until only the piano
of the player remains
Tell me why you won’t keep it
Tie me up in a shoe-string box
She don’t keep it if
she don’t need it
Get me out of the deep end
my legs are dangling over the roof
The room gets brighter
when I can see inside her
when I can turn the switch
But she’s so together
I can do the damage and
she can manage the flames
