Brahms - Symphony No.3 - Poco Allegretto
The third movement of the Symphony No.3 by Brahms, in a recording by the Berlin Philharmonic under the legendary conductor Wilhelm Furtwangler.
This movement contains one of Brahms's most delectable melodies, tender, wistful, rich in poignancy. I have tried to select photos that will fit well with the overall mood of the piece. I hope you enjoy it.
The recording is a live one, so there is some (very minor) audience noise. It's hardly distracting.

北ドイツ放送交響楽団(NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg)
Sayaka Shoji is the first Japanese and youngest winner at the Paganini Competition in Genoa in 1999.
She was born into an artistic family and spent her childhood in Siena, Italy. She studied at Hochschule für Musik Köln under Zakhar Bron and graduated in 2004. Her other teachers have included Sashko Gawrillow, Uto Ughi and Shlomo Mintz.
Zubin Mehta has been her strong supporter. When Shoji auditioned for him in 2000, he immediately changed his schedule in order to make her first recording with the Israel Philharmonic possible in the following month, then invited her to perform with Bavarian State Opera and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Brahms Symphony 4 - Carlos Kleiber / VPO (audio)
Brahms: Symphony No. 4 (Carlos Kleiber/Vienna Philharmonic)
Composer: Johannes Brahms
Work: Symphonie Nr. 4 e-moll, op. 98
Orchestra: Wiener Philharmoniker
Conductor: Carlos Kleiber
Location: Vienna, Musikvereinssaal
Date: 12 and 15 March 1980
Here's the award-winning 1980 recording of Brahms' last symphony, with Carlos Kleiber conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Kleiber opts for a lean, austere sound, which is greatly structured and highly energetic. It's a cliche, but once you start listening, nothing can distract you from following it all the way to the end. His tempi are fast, and the dramatic climaxes - the coda of the first movement, for instance - are punched home with the greatest vehemence. The final passacaglia movement is simply sensational: Brahms marks it "allegro energico e passionato", and that's exactly what it comes as. Kleiber's grasp of the architecture ensures a tremendously powerful impact.
Brahms began working on the piece in 1884, just a year after completing his Symphony No. 3, and completed it in 1885. The work was given its premiere in Meiningen on October 25, 1885 with Brahms himself conducting.
Movements:
1: Allegro non troppo (E minor)
2: Andante moderato (E minor/E major)
3: Allegro giocoso (C major [might also be interpreted as E phrygian])
4: movement: Allegro energico e passionato (E minor)

Allegretto grazioso (B-flat major)
The Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 83 by Johannes Brahms is a composition for solo piano with orchestral accompaniment. It is separated by a gap of 22 years from the composer's first piano concerto. Brahms began work on the piece in 1878 and completed it in 1881 while in Pressbaum near Vienna. It is dedicated to his teacher, Eduard Marxsen. The premiere of the concerto was given in Budapest on November 9, 1881, with Brahms as soloist, and was an immediate success. He proceeded to perform the piece in many cities across Europe.
The additional movement results in a concerto considerably lengthier than most other concertos written up to that time, with typical performances lasting around 50 minutes.

JOHANNES BRAHMS SYMPHONY Nº1 Op.68 GUSTAVO DUDAMEL director OPhRFrance LIVE
Brahms began composing his first symphony in 1854, but much of his work underwent radical changes. The long gestation of the symphony may be attributed to two factors. First, Brahms' self-critical fastidiousness led him to destroy many of his early works. Second, there was an expectation from Brahms' friends and the public that he would continue "Beethoven's inheritance" and produce a symphony of commensurate dignity and intellectual scope—an expectation that Brahms felt he could not fulfill easily in view of the monumental reputation of Beethoven.
The value and importance of Brahms' achievements were recognized by Vienna's most powerful critic, the staunchly conservative Eduard Hanslick. The conductor Hans von Bülow was moved in 1877 to call the symphony "Beethoven's Tenth", due to perceived similarities between the work and various compositions of Beethoven. It is often remarked that there is a strong resemblance between the main theme of the finale of Brahms' First Symphony and the main theme of the finale of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Also, Brahms uses the rhythm of the "fate" motto from the opening of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. This rather annoyed Brahms; he felt that this amounted to accusations of plagiarism, whereas he saw his use of Beethoven's idiom in this symphony as an act of conscious homage. Brahms himself said, when comment was made on the similarity with Beethoven, "any ass can see that." Nevertheless, this work is still often referred to as "Beethoven's Tenth".However, Brahms' horn theme, with the "fate" rhythm, was noted in a letter to Clara Schumann (dated 1868), overheard in an alphorn's playing.
Fritz Simrock, Brahms' friend and publisher, did not receive the score until after the work had been performed in three cities (with Brahms still wishing trial performances in at least three more still).
The manuscript to the first movement apparently does not survive, yet the remainder has been reproduced in miniature facsimile by Dover Publications. The autograph manuscript of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th movements is held by The Morgan Library & Museum. (Wikipedia)

Denmark October 11. 2012: I must for the FOURTH time STRONGLY protest over the continuesly FALSE claims from YouTube/partners presenting yet another new false claim that INFRINGES the proper copyright owner: "Danmarks Radio", OWNER of the concert in question.
This video IS "Ein Deutsches Requiem" from 1869 by Johannes Brahms where © video and © audio ENTIRELY is produced and solely owned by Danmarks Radio SymfoniOrkestret and conducted by Herbert Blomstedt!
**** It is NOT as falsely claimed the sound recording of "Cristian Mandeal-Ein deutsches Requiem, Op. 45/Langsam, marschmäßig - Allegro non troppo", which sound recording may be administered by administered by SME. As I write im my -sadly necessary- FALSE CLAIMS LOG FILE attached to the video
**** It is NOT the previous mentioned "Ein deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem), Op. 45-43738" as claimed by the "GoDigital MG For a Third Party" that continuously and falsely claims ownership to a COMPOSITION that is not the uploaded recording.
**** Neither is it as previous claimed "Introitus:Requiem aeternam",administrered by The Harry Fox Agency, Inc. (HFA) who also falsely claims to own the composition!
**** It is a "PUBLIC DOMAIN Johannes Brahms recording/composition solely administered by Danmarks Radio SymfoniOrkestret.
**** ANY COMPOSITION of Johannes Brahms is PUBLIC DOMAIN as the oldest legal copyright-claim can date to his last living day + 70 years = 1967.
**** Public Domain compositions - as this video - CAN NOT and MUST NOT be administered by anyone else than the producing company/orchestra itself or the companys OWN administrator particular for each concert/performance of its OWN.
**** I strongly urge YouTube to redraw the false claim from GoDigital MG For a Third Party" AND The Harry Fox Agency, Inc within 3 day from today.
This 9/11-dated dispute is here- 4 days later NOT yet released?

The video is ABSOLUTELY NOT "Cristian Mandeal-Ein deutsches Requiem, Op. 45/Langsam, marschmässig - Allegro non troppo", which sound recording is claimed to be administered by SME.
By FALSELY claiming ownership to the video, SME is infringeing Danmarks Radios copyright, and I urge The YouTube Team and SME within 3 days - to release the claim & in addition to the release, also remove the blocking of the video in Germany removed at the same time.
